Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #540: Ballet on Planet Earth (2005-08-31)

Darling Delights,

How are you all this Wednesday morning?! Hope you're feeling perfectly fabulous, because I know I am! The stars have aligned for a particularly pink and fluffy adventure today, and guess who's at the heart of it all? (You're right, it's me!)

Remember those intergalactic ballet tours I promised you last week? Well, I'm finally back on Planet Earth! And let me tell you, my travels to Andromeda's Galaxy, a stellar affair involving a whole fleet of sentient space turtles (a surprisingly glamorous lot, by the way) have given me so much to share with you.

But first, let's talk about me. I mean, who else are you going to talk about with all those fabulously feathered pink boas and exquisite silk tutus around?! Honestly, my dear readers, you really need to get your heads down and start practicing that piqué turn, because if I can waltz around galaxies in a perfectly pleated pink tutu, so can you.

Now, for the tea. Today, we're going full-on ballet bonanza! Yes, dear reader, we are going all out on the most magical day, filled with tutus, toe shoes, and that divine twirl that makes my heart flutter (not literally, but my heart does give a good little skip every time).

It's 2005, which means we have a super-special edition of the Bolshoi Theatre performance in Moscow (I can’t wait for this!), and that little darling Giselle is dancing in all her ethereal glory, with those perfect movements, it really makes you feel like you are soaring with the fairies (I may or may not be speaking from experience!).

You see, the reason I adore travelling is seeing all the gorgeous, spectacular ballet shows the universe has to offer! Honestly, the amount of *amazing tutu and footwear combinations... let's just say that I haven't had the opportunity to visit a spaceship sewing shop yet... and frankly, after a few trips, I need some more storage for all this fantastic apparel!! It’s a delightful, glamorous struggle, I tell you!

But that's not all, darlings! Because, of course, this post is all about Earth! Well, the reason for this blog post, as always, is to remind you of all the fabulous opportunities to see ballet wherever you are on our beautiful, twirling Earth (I do believe this planet is the ultimate stage!), *and the show tonight has me all excited!! * My best friend, Olivia, has managed to secure some fantastic tickets and it seems this production has just added another string of sold-out shows (so *lucky that she has this magic touch!) and she is also going to give me the best fashion advice for the evening too, darling, you know, for those little flourishes that take my pink tutu from amazing to *fabulous. * Oh Olivia, you're an absolute darling!!! *

Back to the fabulous programme… Well, for those of you on Earth, the Royal Opera House, (ooh! so glamorous!), also has a wonderful production of "La Bayadère" by Rudolf Nureyev, and if you can make it to that, I will buy you all a cuppa - on me! I’ve just *loved ballet from my time in Derbyshire; those early morning ballet classes have certainly prepared me for this glamorous life *I know! Isn’t it so divine!

So what am I doing? Of course, darling, I'm dancing the perfect pink-tutu dance! That's why I'm sharing my top tips with you - I can’t leave anyone in the dark when there’s a *super-spectacular ballet show coming up on Planet Earth, my darlings ! This Wednesday is the perfect opportunity to practice that graceful pirouette in your pink tutus!

Remember, this planet is amazing, with amazing ballet shows, (and shops darling shops! and shops), *and you don’t need a spaceship to experience all of it. You can travel all over Earth to see fabulous performances, meet amazing people and make memories that will last a lifetime. (Of course, you could also grab a spaceship to do it... just saying... *don't get me wrong - a girl has to make sure her blog readers can get that 'extra special treat' to get that pink-tutu glow!)* **

For the true tutu-wearing, pink-loving princesses out there (that's everyone, darling!), here is a selection of things to enjoy this Wednesday to get you feeling fab:

What to Wear:

  • My Top Tutu Tip! Choose a tutu in your most favourite shade of pink (there's a perfect shade of pink for every gorgeous girl!), and think about embellishing your tutus with feathers, sequins, glitter, rhinestones, jewels or lace for a true fairytale experience. (It does look fabulous in those shows I’ve been attending on these intergalactic tours. Don’t be shy, it’s so fabulous... )

  • Pair that beautiful tutu with a stylish ballet top. I personally favour something with lace and a little sparkle, just enough to let that pink tutu shine through! Don’t forget a pink ribbon to tie into your hair too - always fabulous. And those ballet shoes? Well, who needs to be told what to do with those?! It’s time to make a real statement on Planet Earth... just say the word and we'll get your hair looking fabulous... I know all the best hair stylists on this planet. **

Where to Go:

  • Ballet performance (go on, darlings - try a new one this time!) Dance, Dance, Dance! Don’t be afraid to try something new, darling… remember, I’ve travelled around the universe, so don't let your ballet skills be kept on Planet Earth!

  • Check out some shops!! I don’t just dance in these glamorous tutus - I live in them (yes darling, they are super comfy)! You need to find that perfect piece of clothing that will add that extra dash of sparkle to your life. *Oh, what are we thinking about darling? * It’s always fun to be extravagant! It doesn't have to be pink, but let’s be honest, there’s something a little special about that vibrant colour. I mean, a bit of pink just makes your day better. Just look at it... don’t you want it to be a bit more Pink-Tutu World on Planet Earth?*

To Eat:

  • Pink Cake! Because nothing says ‘fabulousness’ more than a delicious pink cake... I’ll confess that on Planet Earth and in those amazing galaxies I have been touring, this is one food that’s super popular... there’s something so delightful about it!

My Intergalactic Observations:

My latest galactic adventures have been all about pink tutus, naturally. And let me tell you - some galaxies really need my help! (Not that I don’t already love being able to go anywhere in my Pink Tutu... but I just feel like this look is so universal. It doesn’t matter whether you're in a galactic dance show, in a terrestrial shop... anywhere! It just looks amazing!

I noticed on Andromeda's Galaxy that tutus were a rare sight, especially the pink kind! A few, yes, but mostly these planets stuck with black or silver, which is quite sophisticated and sleek... But honestly darling, there’s something *more when a little bit of pink shines through!

So, I’ve taken my tutu and waltzed straight to that Galaxy’s capital and *showed them how it’s done! Of course, darling, after such a brilliant, beautiful, fantastic performance... that Galaxy has fallen in love with my dazzling pink tulle tutus… who doesn’t adore a fabulously-dressed dancer in the right pink, especially when those legs stretch for miles. (Did I mention how many space aliens wanted selfies? This is how I ended up getting those pictures with the galactic turtles!) *

And as you all know, my passion is sharing my love of pink and tutus with every corner of the universe. I really want to encourage everyone, everyone, to embrace the power of a well-chosen tutu (pink of course, but don’t let my biases influence you - it's all about your personal style), and remember, darlings... this world is ready to be spun by everyone with their pink tutu-dreams - just get your fabulous on, embrace the colour pink (yes, darling! I am serious...) and twirl to your heart’s content. You go girl! And never be afraid to just dance on Planet Earth - because, you never know - that little step may lead you straight to your heart's content.

And until next Wednesday, may your steps be graceful and your tutus be pink!

With love, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
