Hello darling tutu-lovers!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World blog post! This week has been simply divine and I'm brimming with so much excitement I could literally burst out of my pink tutu.
Where have I been this week? Oh, just gallivanting across the galaxy, naturally! You see, my dear readers, I'm not one for sitting still. This week, I took a whirlwind trip to Earth. (Yes, that Earth!) The journey was utterly fabulous โ a rocket ride, darling, straight from the stars to the planet below! The sight of the big, blue marble from my spaceship was simply breathtaking, and all I could think was 'oh my goodness, pink tutu heaven!'. It felt like the entire planet was just waiting for my tutu-fied magic to touch it.
September 6th, 2006: Planet Earth Diary
As I stepped out of my spaceship onto solid ground (how I love the feel of solid ground!), I was instantly transported to the buzzing metropolis of London. Oh darling, London was everything I dreamt it would be. Towering buildings kissed the clouds, cobblestone streets echoed with a thousand different stories, and the air itself seemed to shimmer with a sophisticated buzz.
I've been wanting to visit London since forever, as it holds so much history about dance and the theatre. In fact, it was where I first became obsessed with tutus. I can still remember that day like it was yesterday - I was 5, my Nana had taken me to the theatre to see 'The Nutcracker', and there it was: a ballerina, with a delicate, impossibly perfect, shimmering pink tutu that spun around her like a celestial dream. At that moment, I knew I had found my calling, and everything since has been leading up to it.
My mission? You know it, my dearies: To get every single creature in the universe wearing a pink tutu!
I landed in London during an absolute ballet extravaganza! The Royal Opera House was buzzing with activity. They were just about to open a new ballet season, so everything felt electric with excitement. Honestly, darling, you could almost feel the energy in the air โ it was contagious. I spent the morning at Covent Garden soaking it all up, taking in the bustling stalls and marveling at the beauty of the theatre. Then I headed straight to a performance at the Royal Opera House. It was absolutely magnificent!
A story about a mythical swan queen with a bewitching tale about transformation, sacrifice, and ultimate love. I have to say, the choreography was divine, the costumes simply breathtaking - a shimmering tableau of delicate tulle and soft pinks. I even spotted a particularly gorgeous ballet flat with a gorgeous, shimmering silver detail โ and a very fetching blush pink to go with my own collection, naturally.
Of course, no visit to London would be complete without a trip to a department store โ my own favourite store, Liberty. The glorious fabrics! The breathtaking selection of tulle, silk and sequins โ the sheer heaven of it all! My tutu needs never felt so alive, you wouldn't believe the sheer abundance of glorious pink silk chiffon and fine cotton tulle available there!
It was an explosion of glorious pinks, with fabrics and lace from across the globe, and enough velvet to upholster an entire spaceship! Oh darling, you simply must visit this place. Trust me, if it's good enough for a fashion icon like myself, it's good enough for you!
Pink Tutu Shopping Spree!
After London, it was on to a city closer to my Earthly roots. Derbyshire! Now Derbyshire may not be the most fashionable place on the planet, but darling, donโt underestimate the heart of England! They may wear flat caps and have more sheep than people, but believe me when I say, even in Derbyshire, there's a glimmer of hope for a tutu revolution!
So of course, while I was there, I couldn't resist taking a stroll around some charming little villages to look for inspiration. I stumbled upon a little artisan's market that had some seriously beautiful homemade tutus. One of the vendors told me the tutus are designed by local dancers. Apparently they're hugely popular for charity performances โ all the proceeds go to local arts organisations and local community theatre! What a fantastic initiative! Even the most practical souls out there can't deny that tutus have a touch of magic in them. They're fun, they're flamboyant and they remind everyone that life's meant to be a bit of a dance!
My shopping trip had me buzzing for a day. I'm not sure why, but everything in a country setting just seems to sparkle brighter! Youโd be amazed by how creative everyone is! And thatโs the key to the success of the Tutu revolution! Everyone, even in Derbyshire, has it in them to become a fashion icon, a dance-loving rockstar!
Remember darlings, everyone has a tutu-fying potential inside of them. It's simply about finding the courage to unleash it!
And with that, darling readers, it's time to fly!
