Oh, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, where the only thing more dazzling than my latest pink tutu is the journey we're on! I'm Emma, your celestial style guide, and I'm writing to you from my latest adventure - Planet Earth, you see, and it's as lovely as ever! I've been gallivanting through the most glorious fashion districts in all of London, and just had to tell you all about it. Before I start on all things fashion, let's take a quick moment to appreciate the truly fabulous celestial show going on here on planet earth tonight. Tonight, dear reader, it’s a full moon! I’ve always loved a full moon and it feels extra special tonight!
This trip, I've managed to snag tickets to see the incredible Bolshoi Ballet performing Swan Lake, and believe me, you can't get any more classic or glamorous than that! Oh, my! If you haven’t seen a show like this before then put it on your list for when you visit. It was like something out of a dream, every spin, every leap - simply mesmerising! There were so many amazing outfits, and oh, the shoes, absolutely gorgeous. You should’ve seen my face!
My love of tutus led me to a most curious exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum: "Fashioning a Nation: Dress in Great Britain, 1660–2000," which was completely brilliant! It showcased the evolution of fashion in the UK over four centuries, and guess what? You can imagine how happy it made me, darling, because my sweet tutu made its way in there too! I loved how the exhibit displayed a 1960s mini skirt right next to a giant, feathered, fluffy pink tulle dress, it was just beautiful!
My dear readers, my eyes were popping with excitement as I learned how these fascinating fashion trends influenced and changed, from the decadent ball gowns and the dramatic outfits of the late 18th century right through to the simple, stylish outfits that graced the Victorian era, then on to the amazing 1950s Dior fashion of the 20th Century. I couldn't believe it when I discovered the modern-day influence these iconic fashion trends had on my world of tutus. They weren’t the long, simple and floaty tutu shapes of earlier years that are typically associated with ballerinas, like they would’ve worn at the Royal Ballet School or in my Derbyshire school in England! My fashion tutus are modern, bold, colourful and more daring - the perfect combination for an intergalactic ballerina.
This week I managed to squeeze in a wonderful visit to the V&A’s fashion collection, just outside London. I wandered through decades of fashion - and it really was like taking a trip through a magical wardrobe! My head was absolutely spinning with inspiration for my next tutu designs. Now, as if all that wasn't enough excitement for one day, I spent the afternoon dancing around Kensington Gardens with a bunch of fellow intergalactic travellers! Turns out there's a fantastic underground network of ballerinas and dance enthusiasts on Planet Earth - a secret ballet society! Who would've thought? We were practicing a few routines – we’ll have a mini performance later – I do have a special sparkly tutu all planned out!
Then, I got all my travel necessities for a fabulous trip. And darling, trust me when I say, "You cannot have a fabulous journey through the galaxies without the proper sparkle and shine". So I spent the rest of the afternoon with the wonderful and oh-so-stylish people at Harrods! I have a confession to make - this place truly does have it all. You’ve got your department store fashion from Alexander McQueen to Jimmy Choo and there were so many designers, and oh, my sweet readers, that sparkly display of Dior handbags!
Of course, my shopping basket wasn't just filled with fabulous high heels. My heart simply skipped a beat when I came across a shop crammed full of gorgeous pink tulle, silks and satins - perfect for making a completely delightful and totally pink tutu!
Of course, I have a grand plan in place to share my adventures on my return to the other side of the galaxy - but don’t worry, it’s still under wraps until I come up with the final details for this next adventure!
However, this brings me onto this week’s challenge to you my darlings: Create the perfect intergalactic ballet routine to dance on your next trip across the Milky Way, but make sure it includes your fabulous pink tutus!
So darling, don't forget, I'll be posting on here next Wednesday – and if you haven’t done already, make sure you come and say hi on my Pink Tutu World blog page, where you can tell me all about your intergalactic travels! * www.pink-tutu.com *
And remember: It’s never too late to sparkle!

Pink Tutu World P.S. For this trip, my spaceship landed on Earth in the charming little town of Buxton, a darling spa town in my old county of Derbyshire, England. This town is famous for the amazing Buxton Opera House and a glorious spa complex! If you are a dancer looking for inspiration - and fancy a trip to England - this is the place for you. You never know, darling, I just might be popping back down for another visit one day!
But in the meantime, I’m back off on a space mission to other fascinating galaxies.
Lots of love from,
Emma xx
