Pink Tutu World: Blog Post #626 - A Cosmic Ballet Adventure!

Wednesday, 25th April 2007

Darling darlings,

Greetings from the most fabulous, pinkest, twirliest corner of Planet Earth! Your favourite pink tutu-clad, intergalactic ballerina, Emma, is back with another fabulous post. I know you've been eagerly awaiting this weekly dose of cosmic couture, and my dear, you are in for a treat!

This week's adventures have been simply divine, and I just have to tell you all about it!

Remember how I mentioned last week that I'd be taking a little jaunt across the solar system? Well, my spaceship, the aptly named "Twirling Comet," zipped me across the galaxy faster than a ballerina pirouette, landing me in the most exciting destination – the shimmering blue planet known as Earth.

Earth is such an exciting place, especially for a tutu-obsessed girl like me! This planet is chock-full of breathtakingly beautiful cities, rolling hills that inspire my imagination, and a cultural landscape bursting with vibrant history, exquisite fashion, and of course, the best ballet performances in the whole universe!

This week, I was particularly drawn to the enchanting city of Derbyshire, England (my birth place!), a town overflowing with charming cottages and cobblestone streets. Just the kind of quaint scenery to set the stage for a super special ballet experience.

Now, I'm not talking about the usual ballet you see on stage in a grand, opulent theatre (although I love those, too!). This time, I was whisked away to a more intimate, magical performance - a ballet in the open air, nestled amidst a lush garden overflowing with vibrant wildflowers.

It was a breathtakingly beautiful experience! The dancers, clad in exquisite tutus (my heart swooned with delight!), gracefully pirouetted and leaped against a backdrop of blushing sunset hues.

Honestly, the air was electric with excitement and wonder, and it really showcased the true beauty of dance, beyond the grandeur of a formal stage.

After the performance, I enjoyed a delicious spread of local delicacies – scones with clotted cream and jam, just the way my Granny used to make them (oh, the nostalgic twirls I twirled as I nibbled!)

I am obsessed with Earth fashion, it’s full of amazing designs, beautiful materials and everything sparkly and glittery. But, of course, no ballerina visit to Earth is complete without a trip to the local vintage stores, a glorious adventure that always fills my pink tutu wardrobe with fresh delights.

This time, I found the most charming, vintage shop nestled in the heart of Derbyshire. I scored a collection of iridescent silk scarves, a silk brocade shawl, and a fantastic pair of vintage pink ballerina shoes. And, just to keep things balanced, a stunning royal blue tutu just begged to join my collection!

(If I had my way, every Earthling would be sporting a pink tutu, but one must take baby steps, darlings. A little pink in every wardrobe, however subtle, is a step in the right direction! You know I believe in the power of pink.)

On my last night in Derbyshire, I ventured out to a charming pub with live music – an absolute delight! I loved swaying to the music in my dazzlingly pink tutu – they may have looked at me like I'd landed from outer space (which I sort of had), but my love of twirling and a bit of fun transcends even planetary boundaries!

The sheer joy and wonder I found on Earth during my brief visit made me even more determined to travel this fantastic blue planet and experience more of its stunning landscapes, fascinating people, and (of course!) magnificent ballet.

I’m so glad that the people on Planet Earth are embracing the cosmic dance that brings us all together. I'm especially glad that people of all ages and backgrounds find a way to express themselves creatively, whether through art, music, or a dazzling pink tutu (naturally, the best way of all).

Stay tuned for next week's adventures as I hop on the “Twirling Comet” and head for a brand new destination, full of inspiring possibilities and a healthy dose of pink!

Yours always,

Emma x
