Hello darling dears!
Welcome back to another edition of Pink Tutu World! This week, we're back on our very own planet Earth! Can you believe it? I've been traversing the cosmos so much that I almost forgot about home sweet home.
This week has been a whirlwind of ballet and beauty. I can't seem to escape the lure of the dance, my darlings. My spaceship arrived in Derbyshire last Tuesday. A trip back home was simply essential, as you know! Derbyshire, you know, is just full of hidden gems and tucked away lovely places with lots of little cafes and charity shops, which are ideal for finding pre-loved, vintage tutu materials!
Then, I just had to go to the Royal Opera House in London to watch a dazzling production of "Swan Lake." Oh my! I literally felt goosebumps when I saw the prima ballerina soar and float across the stage in her white swan costume, with her billowing white tutu! After all those glittering stars Iāve seen in space, the choreography in this classic show made me think back to why I love ballet. It just took my breath away, darlings!
Oh! Youāre probably all wondering whatās happened to the new tutus Iāve ordered? Iāve already started to make myself a brand new pink tutu, which Iāll be wearing when I go to see a performance of "Sleeping Beauty" this Friday in Leicester. (Oh, donāt tell anyone, but I'm hoping to meet some really stylish influencers! Perhaps even a few princes and princesses!)
So, you see, life on Earth for me has been all about the twirls this week. The first rule for a fabulous tutu girl on Earth is to keep the dancing going - even if you're in an intergalactic spaceship.
I need to tell you about all the wonderful outfits I found in the London department stores! I just loved my fluffy pink cashmere scarf with delicate, sequined tassels! It will be absolutely perfect for my "Sleeping Beauty" tutu.
You really have to plan a trip to Londonās famous Oxford Street. If you need more ideas for tutu costumes, this is your one stop shop.
Of course, the new pink tutu would not be complete without matching pink sparkly platform sandals from my favourite designer in Soho! (Oh, it was worth all that rushing about through Londonās crazy, crowded streets! Just try not to look too obvious with your wallet in the Tube or you'll be a victim of pickpockets! )
There's been something wonderful about being back on Earth after so many years in the far corners of the universe. You all may think of space as the most incredible and fashionable place to visit, and it certainly has its unique charm, but for a true dance lover, there's no place like home!
Remember, my dearest Tutu Tribe, life is a ballet, so dance to the music that makes your soul sing, and be fabulous and always wear pink!
And donāt forget to join me next week for another instalment of "Pink Tutu World"!
See you soon!
What Iāve been loving this week! Here are some things that have really been getting my attention:
"Swan Lake." The sheer perfection of Tchaikovskyās music - that breathtaking ballet and those beautifully choreographed movements. If you havenāt seen it already, then this show has to be top of your list! Oh, I can't believe I was able to sneak a peek at the Royal Ballet. All those star dancers, who Iāve been watching in the ballet world for years! The lead dancersā elegance, and grace as they glided around the stage with their big tutus. It is quite magical. (Yes, I did take the opportunity to get up early to grab some limited edition, designer "Swan Lake" tutu designs. Let's just say my pink and white tutu for "Sleeping Beauty" just got even more incredible!)
I've been in ballet class every day, honing my pirouettes and jetƩs and learning the steps of "Sleeping Beauty" before the show!
You may not think youād find tutu-related products in charity shops on planet Earth, but there's loads of amazing fabrics in vintage and pre-loved stores in Derbyshire! I found an amazing selection of pink sequins and fluffy tulle! (I just love those tiny glittering things.)
āBarbie and the Diamond Castleā. I am so looking forward to watching this movie on Saturday with some of my favourite dancers in the studio. It has an amazing tutu!
For an added twist to ballet life on Planet Earth, why not try ballet classes in a park, by the sea or by a beautiful lake. This was amazing for getting close to nature. Oh, and those cute ducks always seemed to want to dance!
I have also discovered the incredible magic of ballet shoes! Did you know that every "Sleeping Beauty" ballet has different footwear? This Friday's performance will have custom-made shoes. Oh, how I wish they were my size. You see, in Derbyshire, most of the shops sell traditional ballet shoes with ribbon ties. The styles are amazing, but they don't come in all the lovely colours you can find in big, metropolitan shops.
The amazing array of ballet shoes here has really inspired me to look into this type of shoe in a bit more detail. Maybe this will be my new ballet business on Planet Earth! (More news on this later.)
So, what else can I share with you all today?
I had a great conversation in the car on Tuesday with the owner of the Derbyshire charity shop. She was so sweet! She loves dancing to the music of Michael BublĆ©. (We have the same taste, donāt you think? Thatās why I always love to listen to Michael BublĆ© on my way to planet Earth.)
There was also a really fun, girly girly "Tutu and Tiaraā afternoon tea in Chesterfield town square on Tuesday, Oh, my! What a beautiful day out for pink, glitter, tutus and lots of delicious cake and sandwiches. This really did feel like "A Very English Afternoon Tea.ā (Remember my pink high tea with Prince Charming in the spaceship last week?)
I was talking about it this week and someone else mentioned it to me. If you are planning a tutu event or fancy dress, you should visit The Teapot tea shop on Chesterfield town square!
Oh, did you notice that a few of my photos have been re-mixed with a glittery background, all sparkly colours of blue and green? Yes! I just love all the sparkly glitter of planet Earth - it gives you such amazing style.
This was such a special, beautiful week. The highlight was the āSwan Lakeā ballet in Londonās West End! Oh! If you happen to see me walking through London, feel free to say hello! I would love to see what tutus you are wearing!
Until next week, my darlings!
With much love and tutu twirls,
Emma
P.S. I nearly forgot to mention, this Saturday it's going to be another busy day here. Thereās a āBallet and Beautyā exhibition in Leicester! (It will be just around the corner from "Sleeping Beauty.") A few of the "Pink Tutu World" fashion designs are included! If you come to say hello, you can ask me for autographs. (And perhaps I can ask you a few things about your Tutu World on planet Earth?)
P.P.S. If you need help picking a tutu or even have your own fabulous Tutu World on planet Earth to share with everyone, please let me know. I'm here for you all!
