Hello, my darling tutu-loving lovelies! Itās Wednesday, the 9th of April 2008, and Iām back from another whirlwind adventure across the cosmos, this time with my feet firmly planted back on the dear old planet Earth. I canāt believe itās been a whole week since my last post. How can time possibly fly by so fast when there's so much pink tulle to be worn? But don't worry, I'm going to be sharing all the celestial adventures and dazzling discoveries with you now!
Before I tell you all about it, however, a quick announcement ā if you're on Planet Earth this weekend, youāve got to make it to the Royal Opera House. It's the Royal Ballet performing āSwan Lakeā and you just KNOW there will be some beautiful costumes and phenomenal dancing. Trust me, my darlings, itās an absolute must-see. But get your tickets pronto! The performances tend to sell out quicker than a pink tutu in a boutique. Speaking of, if you're in the mood for some serious tutu shopping after the show, I recommend taking a little stroll down Bond Street, there are some fabulous shops and you might just stumble upon a dazzling vintage number.
Right, back to my latest interstellar journey, shall we? This time, I've been taking in all the sights and sounds of the planet Zargon, a world bursting with bright turquoise seas, lavender fields and the most delectable smelling plum trees you can possibly imagine! I could have spent an entire day just lying under the leaves and enjoying their fragrant perfume ā not to mention indulging in the plumpest, juiciest plums I've ever tasted! Yum! They even sell plum-flavored pink champagne on Zargon! If you get the chance to go, definitely try a bottle or two, darling!
The Zargoonians have a truly wonderful ballet culture. Every night thereās an outdoor ballet performance, on a huge, mirrored stage set under the glittering stars ā absolutely breath-taking. I can't forget the costume designers there! I mean, have you seen what they do with that purple and orange coloured fabric? And, they use the most exquisite silver sequin trims⦠oh, the sparkles! The only issue? There's not a single pink tutu to be seen on Zargon. Gasp! They must think it's a fashion faux pas! I took it upon myself, as you all know I do, to set them straight!
Of course, no trip is complete without a spot of sightseeing, so we travelled around on the most gorgeous flying carpets ā Iām talking genuine, hand-woven carpets, not the kind you see on your grandma's floor. We even got to try their delicious plum pastries and, oh my, they are something else. They reminded me of something⦠my mumās plum crumble! Happy sigh
My favourite part of the trip? It wasnāt the spectacular plum tree-lined avenues, the amazing ballet or the pink champagne⦠no. My absolute favourite was seeing their fascinating ballet museum. It wasnāt in a big, grand building like the Victoria and Albert, it was nestled within a lush plum orchard, tucked away behind the most spectacularly decorated plum trees. The inside was filled with historical costumes and amazing storyboards detailing the entire history of ballet on their planet. They told me they have been practicing some form of ballet since, well, forever ā just about as long as the plum trees! Their ancient dance forms, my darlings, are just fascinating and inspired me for my next tutu design⦠hint hint, think plum coloured tulle.
While I was on Zargon, I spotted a little girl on the planet watching the performance. I knew exactly what I needed to do - what a ballet princess needs! And I did it⦠sheās now twirling around in a new bright pink tutu I bought for her. (They were selling such gorgeous, light pink satin ribbons at their bazaar - so I also got a bunch of those for myself!) She has become a new fan of ballet thanks to me⦠how satisfying! After all, isnāt my biggest dream to see the universe decked out in pink tutus? This little ballerina is well on her way!
You see, dear readers, my aim in life is simple: I want everyone, absolutely everyone, in the universe to experience the pure joy of dancing in a pink tutu!
To all you beautiful readers on Planet Earth - what a joy it is to be back. And I'm off again next week - this time to the world of Cantaloupe! I can already hear the sweet aroma of fresh, ripe cantaloupe! I have a feeling Iām going to need a whole lot more pink tulle to cope with the adventures I know will unfold!
Until next week, darlings, remember - you can never be too fabulous. Embrace your inner pink tutu and go forth and twirl!
Your forever tutu-loving ballerina, Emma x
