Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #681

Helloooo my darling tutu-loving friends! It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means! 💅💖 Time for another delightful blog post from your favourite pink-clad ballerina, Emma!

This week, I’m bursting with excitement! It's been quite the adventure, and I have to tell you, the Universe truly conspires to deliver some magic to those of us who wear our hearts on our tulle! This week I landed back on Planet Earth from a rather glamorous tour of… well, you wouldn’t believe me!

Planet Zappitydoo, anyone? You know me, always eager for a new adventure. This planet was known for its electric pink flora and fauna - I’m talking bright magenta grass and holographic, glittery blue butterflies that sing in perfect harmony. Talk about inspiration! 🤩

Before we delve into my thrilling experiences, a little catch-up! Last week, you all may recall my blog post about the fascinating history of tutus, focusing on the origins of the pouter-pigeon-inspired "leg o’ mutton" tutu (a darling of the romantic era!), and then on to the much more practical and streamlined tutu that helped us dancers to twirl and leap with ease in the later periods. Always a story waiting to be told, wouldn't you agree?

But I'm digressing! Back to my trip to Planet Zappitydoo! This dazzling destination had some seriously outstanding dance culture. Every single Zappitydooan (that’s what the locals called themselves) was obsessed with ballet - imagine my joy! I practically had to fight off the enthusiastic fans wanting to buy me cocktails from a pink-hued cloud! You would never believe the number of Zappitydooan dancers sporting pink tutus. Talk about spreading the message, hey! 💗

Of course, being the seasoned ballerina traveller that I am, I gave a couple of spontaneous, impromptu shows in the most gorgeous outdoor theatres they have - built into the trunks of ancient, luminous pink trees. And believe me, they went wild! 🤩 The applause, the cheers - I could practically hear the tutu fabric quivering from excitement! The Zappitydooan love for ballet and, naturally, for pink, is something I can’t even put into words, it was truly moving. 💖

But now, back to good old Planet Earth and a proper update on my happenings! Let me tell you, dear readers, it’s always exciting to be back. After my little adventure, my spirit is feeling especially alive and vibrant. After all, Earth is where it all begins, isn’t it? 🌎🩰

First and foremost, my favourite thing about being back in England is the delicious smells that fill the air. You just can't beat that smell of a hot afternoon walk through a bustling farmers’ market. This week, my senses were overwhelmed by the delicious scent of lavender - I even treated myself to a bouquet! (lavender is, naturally, a fantastic colour when considering my favourite colour pink!). You could just say the fragrance practically whispered of a delightful picnic with tea and strawberry and pink raspberry cake! It’s pure magic! 🍰

But enough about the delectable smells of Planet Earth! It’s the events and exciting happenings of our wonderful planet that I really want to talk about. I've just got back in time to witness one of the most amazing events ever! An open-air performance by the Royal Ballet! A breathtaking performance right here in beautiful, historic Derbyshire! I know, you're all thinking, 'Oh Emma, you are just SO lucky!'. I couldn’t help but let my emotions get carried away, I practically cried happy tears with the performance and was dancing along in my pink tutu before the show had even ended. It just shows that the Universe loves you when you’re truly devoted to the cause, right? 🩰

And while I was absolutely floored by the performance, I also spent some time wandering the beautiful historic streets of Derbyshire. There were some magnificent second-hand clothing stores. And guess what? I found a whole rack of pink tulle!! I practically snatched them all up and am already working on transforming them into something unique and exciting! Expect some fun creations in future blog posts, my lovelies! 💖

Of course, my life isn’t all pink tulle and magical performances. I like to be real with you guys! 😉 There were, of course, moments of pure, blissful procrastination where I simply relaxed and caught up with my favourite things, like a delicious latte in my local cafe. I even had a delightful chat with the barista who loved to wear brightly coloured hair, you could say he was pretty pink obsessed, a man after my own heart. 🌈

But remember, the universe always seems to present new and wonderful things for a ballet-loving, pink tutu-wearing, intergalactic traveller. And while this week, Planet Earth felt like home and held onto my heart a little tighter than usual, next week I am heading for another stellar destination! A new planet, new wonders to be experienced and new tales to tell.

I always wonder, what adventures await me next? One thing's for sure, dear readers, my dancing shoes will be ready! Keep following this blog and see what adventures I get up to! I can’t wait to see what exciting things the next week will hold. See you next Wednesday!

Love,

Emma
