Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #707

Hello my darling darlings! It’s Wednesday again, and that can only mean one thing… it’s time for another Pink Tutu World blog post! I’ve got a little something extra special for you today, so get yourselves comfy and ready for a dose of pink-tastic excitement.

Today, 12th November, 2008, I'm finding myself back on my favourite planet – Earth! I've spent the last few weeks jet-setting around the cosmos, from a delightful visit to Neptune's shimmering coral reefs (tutu-inspired seashells are just divine!) to a whirlwind tour of Jupiter's moons.

But there's nothing quite like returning to Earth, especially after my latest intergalactic ballet adventures. Speaking of adventures, my little space-faring heart is brimming with stories to tell.

Let me take you back a few weeks ago, to a dazzling night at the Met, that’s Metropolitan Opera, New York, for all you non-ballerina types, where I was invited to perform in a special galactic collaboration. The show was called 'Celestial Swoon,' and it was truly breathtaking. Imagine ethereal dancers floating across a stage bathed in nebulous colours, their movements reflecting the celestial waltz of the planets. And of course, every dancer on stage was sporting a custom-designed tutu, all in shades of pink – naturally!

You see, I’m not just here for the pretty tutus, although let's face it, who can resist a perfectly constructed pink tulle masterpiece? I am on a mission to spread the joy of dance and bring a pinch of pink sparkle to every corner of the universe. My mission? To make the universe a more fabulous, tutu-filled place. It's a big dream, I know, but even big dreams start with tiny steps, don't they?

Since you're here with me on Planet Earth, why not have a proper Pink Tutu Day! It's not about a specific date; it's a feeling. It’s about celebrating everything pink, everything tutu, everything beautifully whimsical! You can turn a Wednesday into Pink Tutu Day just by wearing a beautiful, big, sparkly, pink tutu – oh, and perhaps throwing a tea party, wearing a hat adorned with sparkly pink butterflies. It’s so easy to inject some fun and colour into even the most mundane of days, you know!

And don't even get me started on the incredible outfits! This past week has been a total shopping extravaganza. I have this gorgeous new sparkly lavender tutu that’s absolutely screaming for a theatrical performance – I think it’s just perfect for my upcoming solo performance at the London Coliseum, featuring the celestial-inspired music of Gustav Holst.

Of course, no Pink Tutu World blog would be complete without a sprinkle of historical brilliance! While I was here on Earth, I visited the Victoria and Albert Museum – absolutely bursting with amazing tutus and fashion. I particularly fell in love with a beautiful 19th-century pink tulle tutu that was worn by one of the most famous dancers of her time. This little gem had the most elaborate embroidery and was even adorned with sparkling crystals, giving me major inspiration for my next collection! Imagine, a sparkling, ethereal Pink Tutu World collection that would befit a galaxy's best dancers... my imagination just went supernova!

Speaking of ballerinas, did you know that a famous 19th-century dancer called Fanny Elssler even wore pink ballet shoes on stage?! (Let’s not forget, she was considered to be the star ballerina of her era!). I can’t imagine the scandal that pink shoes caused at the time - they definitely wouldn't raise eyebrows now! We’ve come a long way, and you know what? We still have so far to go!**

Now, where were we? Oh yes, back to Planet Earth. I just love the unique charm of this little planet – a whirlwind of fashion, art, history, and ballet, of course! Today’s a big day for all us lovers of beautiful things. There’s a huge fashion show showcasing all the latest designs in London’s glittering West End. You’d be amazed at some of the dresses inspired by famous dancers, including some of my designs, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for them, they’re pretty hard to miss!

Today’s post feels a little different, like a letter from a friend who just got back from an amazing adventure. So if you are a fellow lover of the pink and the beautiful, send me your adventures. Maybe you’ll inspire me with my next planet hopping trip!

But I can’t sign off without reminding you, my little tutu lovers: pink is always the answer.

Until next Wednesday, keep shining, keep dancing, and remember, even in a universe of infinite colour, the brightest of them all is still… pink!
