Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #715

Wednesday, 7th January 2009

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, where tutus rule and the colour pink is, quite simply, divine!

As I’m writing this, the chill of a Derbyshire winter is settling in outside my window, and inside I’m cocooned in a mountain of fluffy pink blankets. But my mind is a thousand light years away, dancing on a warm summer breeze across the twinkling cosmos. Yes, my lovelies, this week's Pink Tutu World blog post is all about a little adventure, a little galactic adventure, if you will!

I'm so excited to tell you all about my recent jaunt to Planet Earth! Oh, the glamour, the culture, the utter enchantment! Let me tell you, even with a million glittering star systems at my fingertips, the good old Earth still holds a special place in my cosmic heart.

The reason for this visit? A date with destiny, darling! You see, Planet Earth is where the original tutu took root, and no self-respecting ballerina, or indeed anyone who appreciates a good swish, could possibly ignore such a legacy. It all began with a certain Marie Taglioni, that gorgeous sprite who defied gravity and stole the hearts of Europe with her breathtaking grace, and that’s why my mission this time was to retrace her steps and witness the ballet scene for myself.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper Pink Tutu World excursion without some serious fashion finds! You wouldn’t believe the incredible array of colours and textures I discovered! Now, whilst I hold the iconic pink tutu dear to my heart (the colour, darling, is simply magnificent) let’s be real, a little variety adds spice to life, right? I stumbled upon this absolutely divine cobalt blue ensemble, the fabric shimmering like stardust – a definite winner! Then there was this breathtaking scarlet creation, oh my, it made me want to twirl right into the arms of a prince, though admittedly the nearest thing I could find on Earth were some rather bemused looking squirrels in a park.

My travels, darling, were quite a whirlwind, a real flurry of tutus and twinkle toes, if you will. I took in some amazing ballet performances in the capital of London, which is truly the theatre hub of Earth. They had everything from classical Swan Lakes to magnifique modern ballet shows with daring moves, captivating stories, and a cast of dancers that were quite literally, gravity-defying! But what really made my week were the smaller, intimate performances in this little charming town, you know, the type of places where you can practically hear the audience breathing alongside the music! Such passion, such energy! My toes tapped all week, even while traversing the solar system at ludicrous speeds.

To top it off, I even indulged in a spot of history - yes, the real-deal, old history. I went to see the iconic Royal Opera House, that hallowed hall where the very foundations of classical ballet were laid. My dear, to stand in that same space, to feel the same magic that once vibrated within its walls, I tell you, it was utterly electric. And oh, the stories those walls could tell! Of elegant ballerinas gliding on the stage, of whispered dreams, of roaring applause. I imagine it must have been such a heady time to be part of it, to feel the magic in its full bloom.

For those of you Earthlings reading this, it fills me with joy to know you share my passion for the gorgeous world of ballet! So why not celebrate with a little treat, my dears? Perhaps take in a show, a dance class, or maybe just don that favourite tutu and pirouette around your living room! After all, it’s never too late to let your inner ballerina shine.

However, my adventures on Planet Earth are far from over, and I can't wait to tell you all about my next ballet adventure in the coming weeks! For now, I shall bid you adieu with a flurry of pink tutu wishes.

Until next week, darling!

Emma
