Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu World update! And this week, I'm absolutely brimming with excitement because I'm finally back on planet Earth! You wouldn't believe the adventure I've just been on…
(Cue the dramatic pause, dramatic music swells in the background).
For my last few cosmic journeys, I took a little trip to visit some of the planets in our solar system. Now, I have to be honest - some of those places were definitely more… challenging than others. You wouldn't believe some of the weird clothes they wear! They even gave me some looks when I told them my goal in life was to make everyone wear a pink tutu! Pfft, if you think Earth has strict fashion police, some of these places are a whole other level!
(Turns into the serious ballerina, hand on hip).
But before I bore you with the nitty-gritty details of intergalactic travel etiquette, I want to talk about something even more important. Something absolutely divine and a subject very dear to my heart - ballet!
(Takes a dramatic sigh, adjusts pink tutu).
You see, as a lifelong ballet fanatic, there's no better feeling in the world than getting lost in a spectacular performance. And guess what? July 1st is a big day for dance lovers! Today is the start of the "Dance Weeks" at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Yes, the very same one in London that used to be an opera house in the early 1700s before it became the most famous and well-respected dance and opera venue in all of England. How wonderful is that?
(Spins on the spot)
Now, you might be wondering, why is this pink-loving ballerina from Derbyshire obsessed with the Royal Opera House?
Well, darlings, let me tell you. The Royal Opera House, especially during its Dance Weeks, is the ultimate celebration of dance and ballet, offering an eclectic mix of performances that range from classical masterpieces to contemporary collaborations, bringing a wide range of talent from around the globe! The lineup is utterly breathtaking - world-renowned ballerinas, innovative choreographers, and vibrant music!
And, as you can probably tell, I just can't get enough!
I absolutely adore those classic tutus, the soaring leaps, the elegant movements… And of course, who can forget those exquisite, exquisite costumes! I've even managed to snag myself some tickets for an incredible production by the English National Ballet. They've gone for a modern twist on Swan Lake! The details are kept hush hush to keep the surprise, but I promise you, I will spill the beans after I've seen the performance, just you wait!
(Whispering)
But if I’m being totally honest, I don’t just love watching the ballet - I love being involved. From the moment I step into the studio, everything about ballet makes me completely happy. I’ve got my beautiful pink tutu, my satin ballet shoes, the gentle stretch of my muscles before the class begins… even the sweat and tears that are often involved in mastering new steps are so exhilarating. Ballet is, without a doubt, the thing that makes me feel truly alive!
But now for a quick break from my beloved ballet, as it’s definitely time for a Fashion Friday interlude!
(Does a quick spin, throws an arm over her shoulder)
Because what better way to celebrate my return to Earth than to go on a splendid shopping spree? It wouldn't be a trip to planet Earth without a dash of retail therapy! So, off I'm off to Covent Garden once again! And while I'm there, I’m also going to have a peek at a couple of delightful little vintage clothing stores I discovered during my last trip to London. They have the most amazing array of vintage fabrics and vintage patterns! If you are into vintage - especially fashion for ballet or for performance art - you must go! Just make sure you go in very early before all the best goodies have gone. Because truth be told, vintage is quite rare. If you find some, it can be very much like finding a magical sparkly gem - you just need to be looking for it and have a bit of luck to be lucky.
Okay, so I'm sure you are probably wondering: “What are you going to be doing for the rest of your visit Emma? You’re making me excited!
Well darlings, I thought it might be fun to have a proper adventure today. I’m planning on taking a little trip into the country, maybe out to Derbyshire for the day to visit my family. You never know, there might even be some local ballet lessons for me to sneak into.
(Waves and gives a big smile).
So until next Wednesday, my lovelies, keep on twirling, keep on sparkling and…
**(Dramatic pause)
… always, always, wear a pink tutu.
Happy Dance Weeks! (End)
