Hello my darlings! It's your favourite tutu-tastic travel blogger, Emma, and welcome back to Pink Tutu World! This week, we're taking a trip back in time - not to a bygone era of corseted ladies and powdered wigs (though I must admit I do have a penchant for vintage style!), but to my bygone era - back to September 30th, 2009, on dear old Planet Earth!
Now, you all know how much I adore the stage. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being a tiny part of a huge spectacle. The lights, the costumes, the audience - the sheer magic of theatre, and let's be honest, no art form does it better than ballet. This particular September, the sun was shining, my favourite shade of pink, and a big ol' smile plastered on my face - why? Well, because I was back on home turf! Yep, dear Derbyshire was calling me back!
And why, you may ask, was I in Derbyshire, well, apart from a healthy dose of homesickness, it was to see "Swan Lake". The classic ballet! It had me captivated from the first arabesque, and the story...oh my! Swan Lake is truly a masterpiece! The contrast between Odette, the innocent white swan, and Odile, the beguiling black swan, was stunning. Talk about giving off some serious drama, not to mention, Odette's iconic tutus (just picture that diaphanous white tulle, swirling with every move, absolute perfection!) It was such a joy to experience it live, after all these years. And, honestly, it made me reflect on how much our shared love for the dance has connected me to such amazing experiences on this very special planet, Earth.
It got me thinking…you see, there's a whole history to ballet, with some serious tutu history interwoven. There’s a reason I fell in love with ballet! It’s not just a dance style, it's a journey, and the tutu is part of the journey. And trust me, if there’s a journey, it’s sure to lead me straight to some fabulous shopping stops!
Oh! Did I mention that, as always, my trusty spaceship, affectionately named "The Tutu Rocket," was waiting for me to whizz me around the galaxy after the show? I truly cannot express how much joy the stars and the Milky Way bring me! (There's no shade against Derbyshire here, just the honest truth. That trip really did make me feel like the universe is my oyster!)
And then, of course, came the big reveal - my new blog post for Pink Tutu World. You know me - gotta share every magical moment, from space adventures to earthly escapades, all with my favourite accessory - a perfectly pink tutu. Now, that was some serious dedication to spreading the joy! I have a vision, darlings! A vision of a universe where everyone wears pink tutus and feels free to embrace their own unique style and grace. After all, who needs super-sized spaceships when you can soar through the cosmos on the wings of a perfectly placed pirouette? (Yes, yes, you are quite right - they are very necessary for galactic travel!)
After a few days exploring the beautiful, lush green landscape, and indulging in my favourite traditional Derbyshire treats, the time had come to bid farewell to Planet Earth and zoom off into the cosmic sea! The "Tutu Rocket" was ready for the ultimate dance - a grand jeté through space! Now, this blog is already way too long, and my precious little spaceship is calling me, so until next time, don't forget - keep it pink and twirl it loud, my lovelies!
As always, your fabulous ballerina blogger, Emma
PS. And on the 30th of September in 2009, besides enjoying that heavenly "Swan Lake" performance and, obviously, all the amazing shopping in the Derbyshire region, it also happened to be the birthday of a dear friend, Emily! How exciting, you might say! Well, imagine my delight! Not only was she having a *wonderful party, but it also meant I was getting lots of birthday-themed tutu-ing done, if you know what I mean! I’m telling you, the tutu is such a versatile and playful fashion piece, even birthdays don’t escape the magic! Slaps the Tutu Rocket Time to make for Emily's party!*
