Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - 13th October 2010 - Post 807!

Hello my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, your one-stop shop for all things twirly and pink. This week, we're dancing right back down to Planet Earth after a whirlwind adventure through the Andromeda Galaxy, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fabulous!

Remember how I said I'm all about pushing boundaries, well, pushing boundaries means trying out a new kind of space-faring vessel. This week, we ventured out in a rather unconventional spaceship โ€“ let's just say it resembled a giant pink cupcake with a frosting-covered propeller. It might not have been the fastest craft in the universe, but it certainly got us there, and let's be honest, a girl's gotta be comfy when travelling through space, right?

After arriving safely on Earth, I made my way straight to London's Covent Garden. A dear friend of mine had been telling me all about this incredible dance performance they were putting on at the Royal Opera House. It was called "The Sleeping Beauty" and let me tell you, it was quite simply, magnificent. It was just divine to see how gracefully these talented ballerinas twirled and leapt. Such artistry and precision! And their tutus were simply heavenly โ€“ all billowing silk and sparkling sequins.

Speaking of tutus, dear readers, I must tell you all about a fascinating thing I stumbled upon while exploring a little independent boutique tucked away in the cobbled streets of Covent Garden. A shop filled to the brim with exquisite antique tutus, dating all the way back to the Victorian era!

Honestly, I could have spent the whole day browsing those gorgeous layers of tulle and lace. It was like stepping back in time. I was captivated by how the tutus had evolved over the years โ€“ the craftsmanship, the intricate detailing, the way they perfectly reflected the fashion trends of each era. There was even one little tulle skirt with a faint smell of lavender โ€“ so romantic, darling!

In the end, I had to force myself to leave, I purchased a charmingly delicate, faded lilac tutu, perfectly vintage, for my collection, naturally. You know me, a girl never has enough tutus!

Now, while the history of ballet is truly fascinating, I know you're all dying to hear about my little "Pink Tutu Adventures" during my stay in London! It just wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu World blog post without a shopping spree and a spot of theatre, would it?

Let's just say my trip was a whirlwind of pink delights. There was the "pinktastic" lunch I had with my London friends in a quaint cafรฉ on South Kensington High Street, where we indulged in afternoon tea and pink lemonade. We were like a scene out of a movie โ€“ dainty fingers daintily holding miniature sandwiches and dainty smiles on our dainty faces! And let's not forget the magnificent selection of ballet shops I found along the Kings Road. One particular little shop, filled with exquisitely handcrafted, glittery pink ballet shoes caught my eye. And as if the universe was conspiring with me, a dazzling fuchsia-coloured ballet shoe caught my attention and instantly whispered "Take me home!". Needless to say, I am now the proud owner of a pair of magnificent ballet shoes - and you just wait till you see what I do with them for my next performance!

Oh! I just cannot wait to tell you all about the theatrical experience that awaited me! The London Palladium had a brilliant, flamboyant show, and of course, you just know I rocked my most dazzling pink outfit โ€“ a glittering pink top with matching pink tulle skirt, all cinched at the waist with a sparkling, pink sequined belt. And I won't lie, dear readers, I received more than a few admiring glances and whispered compliments! Honestly, a pink-loving girl needs to shine in the city!

Before I end this delightful update, I must mention one little tidbit: Did you know the British are known for their tea culture? They practically worship the stuff! Well, I have to say, my first afternoon tea at a traditional British cafe was rather enchanting. I chose the traditional "pink tea", with a delicately floral bouquet โ€“ it's basically the perfect combination of charming elegance and quintessential British tradition. You just can't beat a good cup of tea and some lovely biscuits, darling.

Of course, I made sure my adventures extended beyond the city too! I decided to do something I've always wanted to try, ever since I saw a travel blog on Planet Mars - go on a countryside "walkies" in the heart of the English countryside. It was such a joy to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city and escape into the vast fields and lush forests of Derbyshire.

I did wear my tutu, just to be clear. It was just too much fun to skip along the rolling hills, feeling the crisp air on my skin and the sun on my face.

You know, there's just something about dancing amongst the beauty of nature that fills you with pure, joyful energy. I have to say, for all the wonders of intergalactic travel, sometimes there is nothing like a simple moment, enjoying a traditional afternoon tea, and skipping around on the hills. You can be an intergalactic ballerinas in a spaceship or in the middle of a countryside meadow - as long as you are wearing a pink tutu!

So there you have it, my darlings. Planet Earth certainly never disappoints. From sparkling tutus to dazzling theatres and all things pink, it's a veritable paradise for a girl who loves to dance. As always, remember: Stay fabulous, stay twirly and keep dreaming pink!

And do let me know in the comments below if you've ever been to a fantastic ballet performance, if you've been shopping for the perfect vintage tutu, or if you've even been on a trip through space! I'm always up for a little conversation, and remember, darling, life's a performance, so always remember to make it fabulous.

And remember: pink is the colour of happiness, joy and endless possibilities, so put on your pink tutu, spread the joy and spread the twirl. It's time to dance! See you all next week on Pink Tutu World!
