Dearest Tutu Twirlers!
It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means? Another installment of my Pink Tutu World! It’s so lovely to see you all back here, on Planet Earth. You won't believe where I've been this week! But first, a little chat about me...
Right, so I'm Emma, and you'll find me prancing around in my signature pink tutu, because, well, pink just makes me feel happy, doesn’t it? It’s so utterly cheerful, a colour that brings me so much joy! And, as a ballerina, it seems the perfect hue for my adventures around the galaxy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not always wearing a tutu, mind you. Sometimes it's all about a fab, elegant ball gown, a snazzy frock, or maybe even some sassy trousers, but the pink tutu is my favourite, and I just love the way it swirls as I dance!
For this blog, I'm reporting live from my home planet – Planet Earth. Now, my earthling friends, you may know me as a blogger, but in my other life, I'm a professional ballerina. It's all thanks to these ballets that I get to experience so many exciting places across the universe. After all, when you can travel by spaceship, what's stopping you?
Just a quick heads-up, dear readers: my main aim is to spread the magic of the pink tutu far and wide. To see the universe twirling in a fabulous cloud of pink tulle! You’ll see it everywhere in this blog; you’ll see it at my ballets, you’ll see it on the streets of new and old planets… It's all about finding that touch of magic and joy that makes us smile. I really believe that the pink tutu brings that magic and spreads love across the universe! And believe me, it's working!
This week I’ve been exploring some truly extraordinary places! First stop – Planet Zylon - you have to see it to believe it! They have amazing dance halls and the best clothes shops on this side of the cosmos. I have a few purchases that I can’t wait to share with you soon! Next up, I took in a few shows on Planet Beryl, where they are just mad for opera, even for intergalactic touring troupes, who tend to be more accustomed to playing to a full moon and a few space stars! Then on to Planet Xylo to perform! Honestly, it was a fantastic experience - I think I made some real pink tutu converts on that planet!
So, back on planet earth, I just had to pop in and catch the "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House in London! The Royal Opera House is, as many earthlings will know, simply a place of magic and grandeur. I don't want to spoil the ending (which I'm sure you know, I'm so well known as the spoiler queen!) but I can say that the choreography and the costumes were dazzling. It’s just as you'd imagine a ballet in England to be – it was utterly perfect! A good ballerina knows how to find magic, in London, or indeed, in outer space.
But you know what really gets me going, my lovely space travelers? I just love, love, LOVE ballet! If there is anything that brings pure joy to the soul it is a well- executed grand jeté or a graceful arabesque. Just a perfect leap! And if you see the stars as you’re soaring through the air? Nothing compares! It’s magic in its purest form, and a true source of inspiration for me, which brings me back to… drumroll
What's going on on Planet Earth on this wonderful, pink tutu-filled day!
My pink tutu dressmaking masterclass at Derbyshire! - I’ll be teaching earthling babes how to make their very own pink tutu, using some special techniques passed down through generations. I think it’s going to be fabulously fabulous, but I'm always open to requests, so if you fancy something else… do let me know. If you happen to be in the neighborhood of my lovely little planet, do pop by for some twirling and pink-hued fun!
The Nottingham Ballet Company is putting on "The Nutcracker". Oh my goodness, the Nutcracker is a show that always gets me in the mood for all things Christmas! (Even though it's January! – but really, a girl needs her Christmas, whenever, doesn't she?!) I really love it. A true story of magic, with all the Christmas fun, excitement and love that ballet can offer. I'll be seeing this and then catching up with friends back in Nottingham after the show.
*If you fancy a little extra fashion inspiration this week… * pop along to *Harrods in London. * I saw their new shoe display the other day. Now that is real ballet! Absolutely divine. It’s on a smaller scale than the space ballet that I create for my audiences, but trust me - they are both as enchanting, beautiful and wonderful as one another.
A ballet performance! What better way to brighten your day than to see some fabulous, fabulous ballet? I mean, if you don’t love watching the amazing movements, it's always good to learn a little more about its fascinating history, and its journey throughout time and into outer space! That’s me! And let’s face it, when it comes to finding new things and experiences across the universe… it’s all about that dress!.
To help get the world’s pink tutu collection rolling, this week we’ll be looking at tutus that really stood out for me – or which inspired me. (In this week's tutu chat, I am focusing on what is considered the ultimate: a history of the tutus. Not just on the planet earth - though it has the most glorious tutu collection - but across the universe… which has produced, to my delight, some of the most extraordinary, amazing, and yes, the most gloriously pink tutus ever! - I am simply captivated.)
This week’s tutu: The "La Sylphide" Tulle tutu. Sigh You have to love this ballet! Such elegant and dramatic, and oh my goodness that tutu is such a showstopper - it simply screams the spirit of ballet, of movement. What I love most about it is how its beauty is enhanced by movement. As it twirls and turns in the performance it gives off an amazing aura.
If you haven’t seen "La Sylphide" yet, go and see it now. And try to see if you can get your hands on one of those beautiful tutu - they are amazing!
Don’t forget, this week on my Pink Tutu Blog we'll be sharing some fabulous pink tutu tutorials and more. If you're inspired by my adventures to create a bit of ballet-inspired fashion yourself, pop by and have a look. Don't be shy about leaving a comment and saying hello too! It really brightens my day, knowing you are all here with me, twirling in a cloud of joy and positivity!
But, for now, until next week – it's off to more ballet-ing for me. See you next Wednesday!
Emma
