Hello my darlings! It's Emma, your resident Pink Tutu Queen, reporting live from Planet Earth. And what a day it's been!
First off, let me just say, Wednesday is definitely my favourite day of the week. Why, you ask? Well, it's the day I get to share all my cosmic adventures with you lovely lot!
This week, my spaceship has touched down on the familiar shores of Derbyshire, England – the very place where my Pink Tutu journey began. You can't beat coming home, even if it's just for a quick pitstop before my next interstellar jaunt.
Speaking of jaunts, can we just talk about the amazing outfit I’ve concocted for today? My spaceship-ready ensemble features a custom-made shimmering pink tutu (sparkly sequins always!) and a tulle-covered leotard, hand-painted with constellations for that out-of-this-world vibe. And because space can get a bit nippy, I've added a matching pink cashmere cardigan for a touch of cosy chic. Let’s be real, what is better than being a little bit pink and fluffy, even in the galaxy?
Of course, no good space-bound ballerina can do without a decent set of ballet pumps! I’ve even managed to incorporate my own personalised design, complete with tiny planets for an extra touch of intergalactic magic.
Oh, and let's not forget my interstellar companion - my precious, hand-stitched pink tutu bag. It’s crammed with all the essentials, from space-proof lipstick to shimmering glitter glue. Never underestimate the importance of sparkle, especially when you’re gallivanting across the universe!
Now, before we delve deeper into this week's adventures, let me tell you about what's been making the celestial news this week. On this very date – 9th February 2011, oh my heavens! – “The Green Lantern”, starring Ryan Reynolds, hit the cinema screens. Talk about cosmic power! Though honestly, a pink tutu gives off just as much fabulous energy if you ask me.
The whole thing reminded me of those fabulous ballet stories that have captivated me since I was a little girl! There was “La Sylphide,” with its ethereal fairies and shimmering tulle, and then “Giselle,” a captivating love story about a young ballerina tricked into the ghostly realm - oh my heavens! I swear, there is something quite mystical and cosmic about the whole concept.
But this week was really all about Derbyshire, and exploring the cultural history of my hometown, which you wouldn't think is super glamorous, but there's something wonderful about the traditional countryside culture of Derbyshire. Especially if you're obsessed with ballerinas!
Did you know, for example, that there’s an incredible old ballet hall nestled in the very heart of Derbyshire? It was constructed by one of the greatest ballet dancers of the last century - Lord Gilbert Dance, a true legend in the tutu world! The place was once the biggest ballet venue in all of Europe! You should’ve seen the intricate architecture - my heavens! - a breathtaking spectacle for any true ballet fanatic. You would not believe the amazing gowns and outfits the people would wear back then! Imagine the dancing they must have seen there - I just can’t help but imagine my sparkly Pink Tutu on those beautiful wooden floors, dancing like a dream.
I, of course, took the chance to experience a delightful performance at the Derby Theatre, one of those fab, quaint old theatres with red plush seats and glorious gold chandeliers, you know. They have the most amazing Ballet workshops there - all under one roof! It's like an immersive ballerina fantasy!
Let me tell you, this week's performance was exquisite! They were putting on a magnificent rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” – the romantic beauty of the performance transported me straight back to my own ballet classes, to those moments when everything fades away, and the only thing that remains is the music, the movement, and that breathtaking feeling of flight.
Of course, I couldn't leave without doing a little bit of tutu-related shopping. Oh, the divine fabrics I saw at "The Milliner" - a heavenly haven of elegant millinery for those special events and outings.
They were, of course, having a grand sale on their collection of magnificent headbands! The moment I stepped through the door, the delightful scent of freshly made silk and velvet filled the air, as if it had been infused with fairy dust itself! It was like a fairytale brought to life. I have a little secret about myself: I have a collection of handmade hair accessories to rival even the most famous queen in the universe!
But I am not just a fan of headbands, oh my heavens! Speaking of millinery, did you know, there’s a magnificent museum in Derbyshire dedicated to the history of hatmaking! It's absolutely charming – with all kinds of vintage millinery designs - fascinators, bonnets, veils - from different eras. Talk about vintage chic, just imagine all the glamorous ball gowns those hats once graced.
I was captivated! Every hat, with its different fabrics and textures, had its own story, a whisper of its former owner and the special moments it witnessed. Just like a Pink Tutu! And of course, they’re not only beautiful to look at, but a crucial piece in a successful ballet dancer's costume. What better inspiration to keep striving for those pirouettes?
This truly remarkable week wasn’t all about Derbyshire though, oh my heavens no!
I flew my spaceship to one of those amazing futuristic, sleek modern dance studios – the most exciting thing is they have massive floor to ceiling windows that look onto a futuristic metropolis. Imagine my Pink Tutu taking center stage as I pirouetted on stage against the city skyline - fabulous! Talk about urban ballet. I could’ve sworn I heard people applaud and I didn’t even leave the spaceship, lol!
And that leads me to my grand mission: it’s my lifelong ambition to turn Planet Earth into the world's most beautiful pink tutu haven. I’ve always believed there’s a Pink Tutu for every occasion, and there's no need to hold back your inner tutu-wearing princess! This mission extends across the galaxy! And don't forget to spread the pink tutu love in your own world!
Until next Wednesday, my little dears, keep shining brightly, wear those fabulous Pink Tutus, and remember - the sky’s the limit when it comes to fabulous fashion. And oh, never be afraid to twirl your way into a world of your own creation.
Stay sparkly, my little darlings!
Your Tutu Queen,
Emma 💖
