22nd June, 2011
Hello darling!
Welcome back to Pink Tutu World! 💅🏼💖✨ It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for another stellar update on my galactic adventures, all from the comfort of your very own planet! This week, my lovely little starlets, we're going to be talking about… drum roll … Ballet on Planet Earth! You know me, always searching for the perfect tutu, always on the hunt for a fantastic performance, and this week I'm going to spill the tea on everything ballet on our little blue dot.
It's been an absolutely thrilling couple of weeks here on Earth, full of colour, tutus, and glitter – just the way I like it! As usual, the Earth has delivered in spades when it comes to cultural gems, and I was thrilled to catch a couple of magnificent shows here in London – always a fabulous hub for everything theatrical!
The first was the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House, and let me tell you, the whole experience was just divine! I mean, come on, we're talking Covent Garden, the very temple of ballet – how could I possibly miss out?! The performance itself was a masterpiece, the dancers absolutely effortless on the stage – truly a sight to behold! I loved their costumes, of course, but especially loved this absolutely gorgeous pink tutu worn by the lead dancer during the second act – a real vision of beauty, it was! 🩰
As if that wasn't enough, I then also had the privilege of catching a National Youth Ballet performance, right here in Derbyshire! Always lovely to see a bit of home. And let's just say, this was one spectacular bunch of dancers - the talent there was off the charts, and it was a wonderful reminder of how many amazing dancers there are coming through! So much passion, so much grace. The best part? Not one, not two, but three gorgeous tutus that simply begged to be twirled in! You can just tell these dancers have their hearts set on reaching for the stars.
Honestly, Earth, you just get me. 😉💖
Now, speaking of Earth, what better place to delve deeper into the world of ballet, this week? You guys are actually the absolute experts! I mean, from the first ever ballets to international tours, ballet schools that nurture the talent of so many aspiring dancers, Earth really does have it all!
That's why this week I'm giving a big shout-out to my favorite ballet teacher on the planet – Miss Grace! A lovely lady I met when I landed in London a few weeks ago. She actually runs a little ballet studio right by Covent Garden, so it's perfect! It’s a small place, with a lovely family atmosphere and a very strict focus on classical technique. Honestly, she just gets the whole tutu vibe – she understands the elegance, the tradition, and most importantly - the pink! 💃 You've got to be careful with colour on this planet, they really do love their black and white, so to have a ballet teacher who gets the pinkness of a true dancer's spirit – that's special!
Let's face it – tutus and ballet, they're the perfect match! From the historical court ballets where they were first seen on dancers, all the way through to modern, show-stopping performances on stages worldwide, tutus are absolutely a part of what makes ballet, well, ballet! Of course, there are lots of different kinds of tutus, just like there are lots of different styles of ballet. The Classical Tutu, the Romantic Tutu, the Modern Tutu, The Character Tutu. Even The Ballroom Tutu, perfect for dancing on the dancefloor of your dreams! Each of them with a different look and a different purpose. But what do they all have in common? You guessed it, the pink! 💖
Now, don't get me wrong, a ballet tutu can certainly be all black, all white, even all blue, but for me – a proper tutu is always Pink, whether it’s sparkling pink or a pale blush pink, the tutu has got to have some pink to make my heart sing! And don’t forget the tutu history lesson - that first tutu in 1729? I’ll give you three guesses for the colour… (but just remember it’s got to have pink!)
And I’m not even talking just ballet tutus. You can find amazing tutus for all sorts of events on this planet, even the ones not involving a stage! For a fairy garden tea party, perhaps, a birthday, or for the occasion of a princess royal wedding, whatever the occasion may be, just remember – you can never go wrong with a tutu, darling, and it has to be pink! *
After all, don't forget the Pink Tutu philosophy, the most important thing is not where you go, what you wear, what you do, it's all about bringing that PINK TUTU LOVE into your lives, into your hearts. Spread that joyful magic of tutus! Don’t let anyone tell you that it's too childish. Because, darling, the greatest fashion accessories are the ones that bring a smile to your face!
Speaking of fun and fancy, I am so excited to share with you something extra special for today's post:
* I am now going to be making * Pink Tutu World videos!!!**
That's right, darling, my own little YouTube channel – featuring tutus, of course – where I will be showcasing my journeys, performances, ballet tips and, yes, you guessed it, my passion for pink! I'm going to start posting videos about my travels to the most beautiful dance venues, the greatest shows on Earth – you know, all the ballet adventures I’ve been going on, as well as my personal favourite tutus! (and maybe even a bit of shopping too… don’t be jealous.)
There's no place on Earth, or off of it, where you can't find a place to twirl! And who knows, perhaps one day I’ll find myself on a stage right here on your planet, dancing to my heart’s content! Now you’ll know what I’m doing when I say "My life is a dance!" I truly believe that dance, and tutus, can help us to connect with the best version of ourselves. There’s truly nothing quite like that feeling, a moment where the whole world melts away and there’s only the dance and the tutu. 💖
That’s why it’s so exciting for me to launch this channel, darling, because I want to share my joy and my passion with you all, all the love I feel, every single time I put on a pink tutu, every single time I dance.
And that’s not just a fantasy – it’s an invitation! Come dance with me! Join me for all my ballet fun, join me for my explorations of this gorgeous planet, and yes – you guessed it – join me for some more tutu shopping. 💖 I want this pink tutu world to be your pink tutu world too, and together we can bring some magic, some beauty, and a lot of pink into this world.
Don’t forget, if you see any beautiful tutus while you’re out and about, send a pic my way!
*Sending you lots of *pink tutu love **,
Emma xx 💖

Okay, so today is the 22nd of June 2011, which, believe it or not, is a very big day for our Earthly ballets! 🩰 🎉 It's actually International Dance Day! A celebration of the joy of dance – so it really fits with Pink Tutu World, right? Every year, UNESCO honours this very special day by choosing a different theme. And this year, the theme is Dance unites! Oh, isn’t that just the most magical concept ever? To be honest, it’s really no surprise that dancing, as an art, has brought people together all throughout history – in a way, Pink Tutu World is all about Dance unites.
So get ready, darlings, because this is only the start of an even bigger dance journey!
Stay fabulous!
