Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - #857

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, space-faring, ballet-obsessed blogger, reporting live from planet Earth!

Wednesday 28th September 2011

Today marks my triumphant return to dear old planet Earth! I have to admit, it’s a bit of a change of scenery after spending the last fortnight hopping around galaxies with the stellar troupe of the Orion Ballet. But it's always good to come home - I miss my lovely Mum’s home-baked carrot cake! I'm actually sat in the living room with Mum right now, whilst she's in the middle of an epic tale about how she lost a dance shoe during the 1986 "Strictly Come Dancing" competition (she made it to the regional finals - oh how she loves to tell this tale!).

This trip was seriously out of this world. I danced alongside these amazing dancers, all decked out in shimmering costumes worthy of the celestial stage, and I even got to learn a little bit of their cosmic choreography! It was all a bit much, really. All that stardust was messing up my makeup and hair. I practically had to have my glitter crystals re-applied every two minutes! Oh, but it was worth it. And I’m sure I can use these new skills when I join the next tour of the Royal Ballet back home - maybe for Swan Lake or The Sleeping Beauty. What a dream!

Anyway, before I go any further, I want to take you right back to my journey. It's been a while since I've shared one of my travel stories, and believe me, this one is a real doozy. Hold onto your seats, darlings, as we embark on a glamorous trip through the stars!

A Farewell to Fashion on Neptune

My previous blog entry documented my experience on the vibrant and whimsical planet of Neptune, where I spent a glorious week exploring the fashion scene and of course, participating in a few exhilarating ballet classes. If I’m honest, I found the style there a bit over the top but you know what? The Neptunians certainly know how to dress. Just picture: sparkly seashell garments, turquoise leggings and flowy coral capes - it was absolutely dreamy.

And of course, they took the art of dance very seriously, even their adorable baby octopi took ballet lessons. We shared an adorable giggle during a pirouette workshop; those octopi really were top notch, their underwater skills were impressive. Let’s just say my fellow ballerinas, we definitely got the giggles after I struggled a little with a certain octopus-inspired arabesque! Let's just say that trying to incorporate eight tentacled appendages into my repertoire was an experience I won't forget. My eight-armed octo-pal Octo-Olivia was very supportive though, she even gave me a pep talk at the end of class – apparently, all of her cousins could do a perfectly flawless arabesque, you would think someone who can move their arms in multiple directions at once would be the epitome of flexibility.

Speaking of which, I always pack a variety of tutu designs, with a touch of colour (naturally pink!) for every cosmic voyage I embark on! It’s so important for a ballerinas’ image to be polished when on stage, I really do believe a pink tutu helps my energy reach cosmic levels. My favourite outfit for Neptune was the "Cosmic Sea Shell" - a two-layer tutu, the top layer made of translucent iridescent fabric, like mermaid scales shimmering with colours like the ocean floor. For my ballet classes on Neptune I had a beautiful hot pink leotard (it's definitely on the website!), perfect for showcasing the amazing dancing the Neptunean Octopi can do, and a bright blue, sparkly, sequin-encrusted top-knot (because I just can’t go without a little sparkly top knot!)

Anyway, after an unforgettable dance performance on Neptune, it was time for my intergalactic getaway. A farewell to my fellow Neptunian dance pals and my darling friends (some were the size of elephants!). And then, zoom, zoom, zoom we shot up into the atmosphere of that gorgeous teal planet. What a day! I will never forget it.

A Starry Journey and a Trip to the Venus Fashion Show

Then, I found myself jetting through space – well, space-flying, because let’s face it, we all have to be more inclusive in this universe, right? That's me - all for being respectful.

I found myself orbiting Venus. And oh my god, you’ll never guess what I did… Yes! I saw the fabulous Venus Fashion Show! The Venus fashion scene is legendary; let's just say it's very extravagant - everything is shimmering with metallic colours and their hairstyles? They use special Venusian crystals that change colour in the sun, imagine that, shimmering top knots of pure magnificence! Honestly, I could have sat there all day just looking at all of those magnificent Venusians sporting their incredibly stylish creations. They love pink over there, you wouldn’t believe the tutu scene!

So, the outfits at the fashion show: It’s the epitome of avant-garde glamour! Imagine… floor-length metallic gowns shimmering in gold, pink and red – each one was crafted from rare Venussian minerals with geometric cut-outs revealing the ethereal sheen of their glowing skin, some of the outfits featured layers of silk and lace with designs of their star signs, that looked incredibly impressive against the glittering backdrop of the Milky Way! Seriously, you'd think a Hollywood designer had put their brains to it!

For the occasion, I donned my very own Venusian inspired ensemble! Well, I couldn't go to this spectacular event without something just a tad special! My outfit for the show was oh so divine. Think layers of sparkling pink tulle and shimmering metallic fabric. I added a Venussian necklace, crafted from precious Venusian quartz, with a holographic pattern and a diamond clasp – it’s one of a kind, darlings. My new sparkly pink top knot that was handmade by my new friend Venus, was absolutely spectacular; I felt every inch the glamorous space-age starlet. Oh, my goodness, just a real dream!

I have to admit, after all of that sparkling excitement, it's amazing to be back on earth!

My Journey back to the Real World - Time to Step into my Tutu

So, now I'm back in the real world! Just taking it easy, sipping tea, enjoying my favourite snacks (Mum’s carrot cake and her delicious homemade gingerbread) and soaking up the familiar sights and sounds of planet Earth. However, it won’t be long before I embark on another extraordinary voyage.

I'm already feeling inspired to head off on a brand new intergalactic adventure – perhaps a trip to the shimmering ice moons of Saturn, or perhaps even a journey to the Andromeda Galaxy, to see how their fashion and dance worlds compare! I know, right?! A fabulous idea, if I do say so myself! The galaxies are calling!

I've got all kinds of plans and new outfits in the pipeline – and don't forget about my new Tutu designs, they will be arriving online very soon, so don't forget to follow my blog for all the latest updates! (That's www.pink-tutu.com)

Remember, you can follow my amazing fashion adventures, space travel escapades, and ballet explorations weekly, so stay tuned and don’t forget to grab a yummy pink milkshake.

Until next week, darlings!

Love,

Emma xx
