Hello my darlings! It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for another Pink Tutu World blog post, straight from my spaceship, parked just outside the bustling, brilliant city of London. I've been here a while, taking in the sights and of course, catching up on my ballet! Oh, darling, did you know the Royal Opera House is showcasing Swan Lake this week? I couldn't resist, even if my spaceship fuel was looking a little low. The ballet, the costumes, the graceful movements, everything was just sublime!
So much so that I decided to spend some time today learning more about the history of tutus, and I stumbled upon a wonderful exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum called ‘Ballet and Fashion.’ Did you know that tutus first appeared in the 1830s, specifically designed to show off the graceful lines of dancers like Marie Taglioni? Imagine! From simple cotton to extravagant layers of tulle, tutus have evolved in fascinating ways. I was positively giddy, and not just because of all the pink tutus I found! The colours! The fabric! Oh, darling, they even had an original tutus from a performance of La Sylphide - can you imagine!
After my museum adventure, I couldn’t resist a little shopping spree. After all, you know how much I adore clothes, and of course, the ballet boutiques near Covent Garden are a delight! I must confess, I treated myself to a couple of new tutus – just because, you see! It's important to indulge sometimes. And when you're a tutu-loving ballerina travelling the universe, well, it's practically a duty, wouldn't you say? The pink tulle was exquisite! And the satin ribbons... Oh, my! You see, dear reader, a tutu isn't just clothing; it’s a symbol of passion, grace, and, of course, joy. It’s a beacon of femininity, and I believe that every soul, from Earth to the farthest star, deserves a little bit of that sparkle in their life.
But alas, it's time to set course for another destination. My next stop? The glittering shores of Greece, where I'll be performing in a breathtaking ballet show overlooking the turquoise Aegean Sea. I hear they have a particular fondness for the color pink down there, and the costumes are simply divine – think flowing gowns and delicate chiffon!
But I’m already dreaming of a special performance in Derbyshire, the beautiful part of England where I’m from. Oh, I miss the quaint villages, the rolling hills, and, of course, the warm hearts of the people. One day, my darlings, I shall be back to give my home a dazzling, tutu-filled performance they’ll never forget!
Speaking of unforgettable experiences, darling, it’s impossible to write about ballet without mentioning my very own spaceship – oh, it's so lovely, but quite pink, naturally. I named it "Pink Tutu Star" - what else would you name a pink tutu loving ballerina’s spaceship?! - and it allows me to traverse the cosmos in style and comfort. It’s equipped with everything I need - a mirrored dance floor (for impromptu practice, naturally), a well-stocked wardrobe (tutus for every occasion!), a crystal chandelier for added glam, and an intercom that plays classical music.
Oh, and did I mention that it’s powered by star dust? A little sparkle, a touch of magic – it makes for the most exciting, and efficient interstellar travel! It's simply the best way to spread the Pink Tutu message across the galaxies.
As I prepare to blast off for the Greek Isles, I'm thinking about the universal language of ballet, the stories it tells without a single word. The feeling of flight, the delicate movements, the grace and strength, it’s all right there in every step, in every twirl. And I can't wait to share my own story on stage, under the Aegean sky.
Until next week, my darlings, keep spreading the Pink Tutu love wherever you are. And remember, if you ever have a craving for ballet, or even a pink tutu, just send a message, my spaceship will be waiting to take you on the adventure of your dreams.
Stay beautiful, Emma xox www.pink-tutu.com
