Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth, Post 889 (09/05/2012)

Hello darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a brand new blog post and I am absolutely bursting with excitement to tell you all about my latest intergalactic adventure!

You know me, I just can't resist a bit of adventure. This week, it was Planet Earth. Now, I've visited this little planet a few times before, but each trip is a new experience, filled with unexpected discoveries. As always, I had my trusty spaceship and, of course, my signature pink tutu - no adventure is complete without it!

So, you might be wondering, what makes this trip to Planet Earth so special? Well, let me tell you! I was particularly excited because it coincided with The Royal Ballet's 'Romeo and Juliet' season, running at the Royal Opera House in London! Now, anyone who knows me knows I have a complete passion for ballet - and for anything classic and romantic - so, naturally, I couldn't miss this!

It all began with a sunrise flight over Derbyshire. Oh, Derbyshire, you'll always be my home planet. As I drifted through the clouds in my spaceship, I couldn't help but think about all the beautiful dancers and ballerinas who were practicing and preparing for performances right now on Planet Earth. It really was such a magical feeling to think about all that creativity bubbling away.

Before I tell you about 'Romeo and Juliet' itself, let me tell you all about my sartorial adventures this week. London, as you know, is a fashion mecca! You just can't beat a spot of high-end shopping on Bond Street - think Alexander McQueen, Valentino, Dior, Chanel... My spaceship practically zipped itself through those elegant doorways, my inner style queen was going absolutely wild! It really was a ballet dancer's paradise!

Oh, and I can't resist a mention of the exquisite selection of tutus on offer in Liberty's. Honestly, you haven't lived until you've danced in a hand-stitched tutu from Liberty's! The delicate lace, the beautiful silks... pure bliss. I swear, I could have filled my spaceship with them all. But, of course, I had to be practical!

Back to the ballet - Oh, darling, the show was spectacular! It felt so powerful and moving to see the story of Romeo and Juliet come to life before my eyes. The costumes, the music, the sheer grace and elegance of the dancers... it just filled my heart with joy! It was everything I dreamed of and so much more. The energy was just captivating. And what about those final scenes? Well, let's just say, I shed a happy tear (or two!) - it was absolutely perfect.

You know, the Royal Opera House is such an iconic venue, just brimming with history and tradition. I loved exploring it backstage. There were portraits of past ballerinas everywhere, and even some of the original costumes used in past performances! Imagine how many ballerina's footsteps those steps have heard! It truly felt magical!

Of course, I couldn't resist having a spin on the stage myself. It was incredible! The perfect dance floor to show off a little of my own 'pink-tutu-fied' moves. Perhaps a future intergalactic performance at the Royal Opera House? Now there's a dream! Just you wait and see!

Before I wrap up my post, darling, there was something else I simply had to see while I was on Planet Earth - The Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. Again, steeped in history, a stunning and grand architectural feat. Oh, to be standing on the stage at The Bolshoi, the birthplace of countless ballet stars! I'll have to pop by again and try to squeeze in a visit to their ballet academy - maybe even a spot of impromptu ballet class with the budding ballerina stars of tomorrow! Who knows what exciting things they might be working on - we may just find a future global superstar in their midst!

My little intergalactic adventure had to come to an end, and so it was back to my spaceship, ready for the journey home. But before I say goodbye, I want to remind you, darlings: you never know where you'll find the perfect tutu - whether in London's chic boutiques or in the cosmic depths of space! I certainly do have a habit of finding myself in extraordinary tutus, everywhere I travel!

Don't forget to tune in next Wednesday for another intergalactic adventure with Pink Tutu World. And until then, remember to dream big, to shine bright, and always wear your tutu with pride!

Keep it pink and sparkling, darlings!

Lots of love,

Emma xoxoxo
