Planet Earth Blog: Pink Tutu World, Post #924

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

Hello my lovely darlings!

It's your girl, Emma, back from another stellar adventure across the cosmos. Oh my, have you been missing my fabulous spacefaring escapades? I can feel the intergalactic airwaves practically vibrating with your excitement for a new blog post!

This week, we're venturing back to our very own, gorgeous, green Planet Earth. Believe it or not, even with all the cosmic wonders out there, there's still plenty of fun to be had right here on our little home planet. After all, a girl can't live on stardust alone, can she?

Now, for those of you who might be just joining us (and you should all come to my dazzling pink tutu workshop after this, darling!), my mission is to spread the joy of the pink tutu to every corner of the universe! You see, I believe that everyone has a little bit of sparkle inside, waiting to come out. A pink tutu just helps us all shine a little brighter, and reminds us of the magic that lives inside all of us.

And guess what, Earthlings? You are all part of my pink tutu universe! You're my faithful followers, and I couldn't dream of a more radiant audience for my cosmic journey!

So, What Have I Been Up To On Planet Earth?

This week, I decided to embrace my roots and do some good old-fashioned Earthly delights. Let's just say it was all about dancing and dipping into history... in a pink tutu of course!

Ballet Bonanza!

First stop? A ballet extravaganza! I took myself down to the London Coliseum. They were putting on "Swan Lake" and I was absolutely floored. This classic tale of a beautiful, pure, and graceful swan caught between a villainous, vengeful sorcerer and a noble prince is just breathtaking. The music, the choreography, the story - it was like watching the stars themselves come alive on stage! I loved all the elaborate tutus in the ballet! Of course, I wore a perfectly lovely pink tutu for the occasion, a beautiful vintage piece from a boutique in the Notting Hill area. My look was very "romantic ballerina" which is my favourite, and I paired it with my cherry red ballet pumps and a delicate little diamond necklace that glittered like stardust. The people I sat near loved my outfit, so much so that I gave them the details of my online shop at the end of the ballet! Oh, they said I reminded them of an enchanting ballerina from a bygone era! blushing

Shopping for Shoes and Ballet History

As always, shopping is a necessary part of any adventure for a ballerina like me! The next morning, I headed to one of my favourite vintage shoe shops in Covent Garden. You can’t be a ballerina if you don’t have the most fabulous dancing shoes, can you? It's truly an experience to walk into a shop filled with shoe after shoe, each more glamorous than the last. You get the most magical twirl around feeling just from looking at all the pretty colours and designs. My personal favorites are the ones with little buckles, they always add an extra sparkle and pop to your outfit!

After a little shopping spree (let's just say my new pair of emerald green satin ballet shoes with a little golden clasp will be a hit when I wear them for my upcoming tour of Neptune!), I took a walk down the beautiful cobbled streets of Covent Garden, all the way to the Victoria and Albert Museum, where they have a gorgeous collection of antique tutus! If there’s one thing that gets me really excited, it’s exploring ballet history! There I was, nose-deep in tutus, admiring the evolution of the iconic garment throughout time! Imagine my delight when I discovered a pink, feathered, and beaded tutu from the 1930s. It was so exquisite! Just thinking about it makes me feel giddy!

It's amazing to see how the pink tutu has taken centre stage throughout history. It's such a powerful symbol of elegance, freedom, and a sprinkle of fairytale magic! Honestly, what's not to love about it?

A Visit to My Favourite Bakery

After all that ballet-fueled activity, it was time to indulge in a little bit of earthly treat! You can't tour planet Earth without indulging in some of their culinary delights, so I headed to the little french bakery on my favourite street in Derbyshire. This little bakery has a wonderful range of decadent treats! It’s truly a Parisian patisserie that would be the envy of every fashion magazine in Paris. My little treat today was their lovely lavender and blackberry macarons. Heavenly! The delicate lavender aroma and juicy blackberry jam filling was perfect with a glass of white wine that I enjoyed from the bakery’s little back terrace. You can’t ask for anything more on a balmy winters day like this, on a planet with beautiful flowers.

Inspiration From Around The Globe

You know, even while I'm back here on Earth, the rest of the universe is never far from my mind! I get inspired by things all the time. Just this morning, I read a magazine article about the vibrant fashion scene in Nairobi. Apparently, their local designers are taking inspiration from traditional Maasai dress and merging it with contemporary style, resulting in some truly magnificent looks! So, just imagine the possibilities when we bring pink tutus into the mix. You guys, Nairobi, watch out! It looks like my latest pink tutu tour might be headed your way soon!

More Pink Tutu Plans!

And just when you thought things couldn't get more exciting, you can be a part of this! It's happening on Saturday 12th January!

It’s a Pink Tutu Performance Spectacular at the Derby Playhouse! I’ve put together a dance extravaganza, incorporating elements of all the best dance styles – ballet, tap, salsa – and then adding that pink tutu sparkle! There will be special performances by dancers from local dance schools, some of whom will be dressed in stunning vintage pink tutus, as well as guest performances from a few famous, very famous, dance professionals, who want to be in on this pink tutu trend that’s taking the universe by storm! This promises to be an amazing celebration of the Pink Tutu World!

Come along for a dazzling afternoon of dance!
