Post #955: Ballet on Planet Earth: Pink Tutu's Adventures in Outer Space!

Hiya lovelies! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another blog post from yours truly, Emma, your favourite intergalactic ballet-loving adventurer, right here on planet Earth! This week, I'm positively bursting with excitement, because this week has been utterly fabulous - a whirl of sequins, swirling tulle and cosmic wonder. As usual, it all began with a performance.

You know how much I love my performances! Not just any performances, of course. Mine have to be extravagant, with a splash of 'Emma' in every turn. Imagine a symphony of tulle, with celestial sparkles shimmering beneath the spotlight! The crowd erupts into applause as I take a bow, my signature pink tutu floating gracefully as the stage lights fade.

Yes, that's me! This week, I graced the stage at The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden (always a highlight!). But, you know, it wasn't just a regular old ballet performance. This time, I had a secret… I had a galactic journey ahead!

You see, for a good reason that I can't tell you yet (it's top secret!), my next ballet destination was out of this world, literally! But, before we launch into intergalactic adventures, let's talk tutus. I'm always on the lookout for the most amazing, enchanting tutus! This time, my wardrobe was a rainbow of shimmering delights:

  • A shimmering, star-strewn celestial pink tutu. It twinkled with millions of tiny crystals, reflecting the spotlights as I pirouetted!
  • A dazzling neon-pink tutu adorned with swirling galaxies of glittering sequins. Imagine a pink sky splashed with nebulas - that's what it looked like when I spun!
  • And my pièce de résistance, my 'Spacetime Tutu' - a magnificent fusion of deep lavender and fuchsia hues, creating a magical swirl that felt like dancing through the cosmic void. It was a true testament to the power of pink, the magic of tutus and the absolute awesomeness of the universe.

After a phenomenal performance at The Royal Opera House, I was ready for adventure! My spaceship was parked neatly on the rooftop, glittering like a giant diamond against the London night sky. (I do enjoy the finer things in life!)

On this particular trip, I decided to visit the spectacular planet of Aurora! You know how much I adore pink, and I'm telling you, Aurora's got the most exquisite shades of rose pink! Think a swirling nebular wonderland. Imagine a kaleidoscope of light shows exploding across the night sky! Oh my goodness, it was absolutely breathtaking!

Aurora, as you can imagine, has some amazing fashion! From the glittering shimmery feathers on the local wildlife to the sheer tulle flowing down the gowns worn by the native Auralorans, it's all absolutely stunning! Even their houses are pink! I absolutely had to buy some new outfits to take home with me – some of them are so lovely I haven’t even started trying them on yet, I'm still so smitten!

However, I must admit, while Aurora is lovely, they had some slightly strange customs... they loved to wear little mini tutus, so teeny! I even bought one for my dear pet bunny, who, it turned out, absolutely loves pink, even more than me, (I must confess!). She twirls around her cage all day! But they did offer me a free spaceship flight to their neighbouring planet. They really are quite generous!

This particular spaceship was actually really quite swanky - complete with a hot tub filled with actual stardust! As you can imagine, the view from Aurora was out of this world! I made sure to spend the whole flight looking out of the window - oh the shimmering planets! So much pink!

My intergalactic journey brought me to 'Planet Ballerina'. Now, this was a special planet. You know what I mean? Not only was everything pink (obviously!) and sparkly but, here, the local inhabitants all knew how to dance. You might call them space ballet dancers, if you like.

However, here is where things get really interesting! Now, I must say, I did feel a tiny bit nervous. Not all ballerinas speak English, and I don't know any intergalactic ballet speak yet, (but it is on my learning plan!) The language barrier, I was warned, was almost a thing of beauty! So I went prepared! My good friend and fellow ballerine from Paris, Mimi (who, as you know, speaks several intergalactic languages, including ‘Cosmic Ballerina-Speak’) joined me for the journey, because of this very reason. Oh, I’m so grateful for Mimi.

The locals welcomed us with open arms. We shared stories, twirled with the most stunning, sequinned ballerinas in the universe, even took a few intergalactic ballet classes (in English, naturally - with Mimi by my side!), and discovered all kinds of incredible ballet styles from around the galaxy. And, what is most amazing, all the dancers and people from every planet, including ours, share my passion for the colour pink! And, get this - tutus. It seems pink tutus are actually the universal sign of fashion-loving ballerinas, so naturally I did what any good ballerina would do – I performed!

On my first night, I gave a small ballet performance at the local Cosmic Ballet Theatre. I took a bow to the cheers of an enormous crowd who clapped and hooted, the air shimmered with so much happiness. I was even invited to join the ‘Cosmic Ballet Council’. So proud!

My mission now is to get everyone on planet earth wearing pink tutus! As we explored this exciting new world, I was determined to make this an official part of my mission to spread pink and sparkle! And here's the thing, even the cosmic ballet council agreed with me! In fact, a pink tutu was already an important symbol of dance across the galaxy! We just need to bring the power of the tutu to Planet Earth!

So, my little pink-tutu-wearing adventurers, I must away again. I have a universe of ballerinas to inspire with my sparkly pink tutus and a world of dance to conquer! Oh, it's going to be glorious. If you see a space ship swirling through the skies, or a flash of shimmering pink in the sky, that’s probably me! I’ll write again next week from my next planetary destination!

Until then, keep your chin up, keep on dancing, and most importantly… remember the power of pink!

Emma xx

The What, Where and Why on 2013-08-14

Let’s recap! Because I am a true champion for detail, just like I champion pink and sparkle! So you know how this amazing week unfolded:

Where: I am on the fabulous planet Earth, where I'll continue to be until I go exploring again, but with a renewed passion for promoting the glory of the tutu and pink – after experiencing the beauty of it in our incredible universe.

Why: Well, for the joy of adventure! My aim is to spread the love for dance and pink! It's simply contagious and magical. It fills our world with happiness. What more reason could there be?
