Hello my darling tutu twirlers! It's Wednesday, so that means it's time for another Pink Tutu World post! This week, I'm back on good old Planet Earth, taking a well-deserved break from my galactic adventures to share all about a truly fabulous ballet experience I had last Wednesday (yes, it's been a busy week!).
Now, before I tell you all about it, let's get straight to the point. Did you know that on 27th November 2013, the entire world was dancing? Okay, maybe not the entire world, but I guarantee at least 50% were wearing tutus. Or, at least, dreaming about tutus. Because, my lovelies, it was none other than World Tutu Day! You can't say you haven't heard of it, now, can you?
If you're a regular reader, you know my obsession with all things tutu is pretty much at epic levels, so imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon World Tutu Day a couple of years ago. It's practically a holiday made just for me!
Anyway, to celebrate, I booked myself tickets to the Royal Ballet's performance of "The Sleeping Beauty" at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, a bit of a fancy affair, if you ask me! I wore my brand new bubblegum pink tutu, naturally, topped off with a sparkly, silver bodice. Now, who could possibly be a better ambassador for this global occasion than yours truly, a girly-girl extraordinaire from Derbyshire who's never without her tutu?
The Royal Opera House is a sight to behold, a veritable temple of culture in the heart of London. All that neoclassical architecture and that chandelier! Oh, and the gilded, plush red seats, just begging for you to sink in and soak up the ambiance. I practically floated through those grand halls, feeling like a proper ballet princess. I tell you, there's no better way to celebrate World Tutu Day than with a real live ballet. And this was a truly magical performance, too, from the first tinkling piano chords to the final, majestic curtain call. The story of Princess Aurora, the evil fairy, the spinning wheel, the handsome Prince, and of course, the legendary "Rose Adagio," was utterly spellbinding. I swear I saw at least 50 perfect, picture-postcard pirouettes – just the inspiration I needed for my next dance class!
But you know me, I'm always up for a bit of sightseeing. I couldn't possibly resist squeezing in a little shopping spree in London's most fabulous fashion district. That place is just overflowing with amazing clothes – perfect for a girl who loves tutus just as much as she loves stylish, quirky ensembles. I found the most stunning emerald green vintage dress, adorned with a thousand sequins. Honestly, you could see it from outer space! It’s the kind of piece that demands to be twirled in! I can’t wait to wear it on my next trip around the universe. It was the perfect little memento of a brilliant day!
Speaking of the universe… My spaceship is waiting for me, all shiny and new! I have a rendezvous with the galactic fashion show on Kepler-186f. It’s a pretty glamorous affair, featuring all the latest fashions from planets all across the cosmos. I can’t wait to try on some fabulous, intergalactic outfits. There are rumoured to be some amazing iridescent moon-stone tutu dresses and outfits woven from nebulae! The styles out there are out of this world, literally! You can read about that whole exciting experience in next week's blog! Until then, my darlings, keep twirling, keep smiling and keep your tutu dreams alive! Don't forget, we're all tutu twirlers in this grand, beautiful universe.
See you next Wednesday! Lots of love,
Emma
Pink Tutu World - A Peek Behind the Curtain
Do you ever wonder what it takes to get to where I am? What goes into making these Pink Tutu World blogs? Let me share a few secrets about the life of an interstellar tutu-wearing blogger:
*Life as a ballerina: * It’s all hard work. Every single tutu spin, leap and arabesque. It's a constant struggle to stay in shape, to be my best in the theatre and to have enough energy to dance in the galaxy! But it's totally worth it for the look of sheer joy in a child's eyes or the adoring gazes from a planet of enthusiastic dancers.
*Balancing the Universe: * My blog takes a huge amount of time. I love sharing all of these fantastic experiences with you, my wonderful readers! That means, getting up early, finding a little corner in the spaceship, even while it’s hurtling across the Milky Way, and crafting my stories. Sometimes, even when it’s past my bedtime!
Finding those Tutus: I've travelled to more planets than you can imagine to source my tutus! Finding perfect shades of pink isn’t easy, so you can be sure I have a huge collection in every color imaginable, from pale baby pink to blazing magenta! My spaceship always needs extra space for all of my tutus.
*Galactic Performances: * I do spend most of my time travelling, going to dance festivals across the cosmos and putting on performances with other galactic ballerinas! The Milky Way Galaxy's best performances happen at the centre of our galaxy, in a magical realm where the energy of creation itself pulses. But we also go out into the unknown galaxies. We try to give a dance performance in every place in the universe and let the tutus shine through in every single planet we visit.
*Fashion: * I don’t just love dancing, but it goes hand in hand with my love for all things fashion! I spend a good portion of my time in high-end boutiques, especially if I find a planet where they are known for making clothes with a certain style, colour or fabric! There are so many fantastic designs in the universe! My absolute favorite planet is Andromeda! There is this truly exquisite boutique run by these magical space sprites. They can design you a unique outfit out of pretty much any space element! Imagine wearing a gown that’s spun out of a solar nebula, and covered in cosmic stardust. It’s to die for!
It can get a little wild, but there's nothing better than having a little cosmic fun, putting on your favorite tutu, dancing in the glow of a nebula, meeting incredible people, and learning more about the galaxy around us! If you’d love to experience it, too, there is a way. That’s what my next point is all about.
Travel Tips From Your Favourite Space Ballerina
So you want to explore the universe and become the ultimate tutu enthusiast? Good news: it’s totally possible! There are no cosmic age limits and anyone can dance under the stars. Here are a few helpful tips to start your own stellar adventure:
*Save for Your Spacecraft: * Start now, even if it’s a bit of pocket money from your planet earth days. Every bit counts! One day you’ll be able to use it for an intergalactic shopping spree for the perfect cosmic pink tutu. The universe is truly vast. If you save up for years and even if it takes several lifetimes, I bet it's worth the effort. You know how I started out? I saved up for years, performing in every show that would take me, earning each and every stellar credit I needed, until I finally got my own space-capable, hyper-velocity spaceship! It's totally attainable, if you dream big enough! It’s all about positive, optimistic energy.
Join Your Planet’s Ballet School: The sooner you get into dancing, the better. It doesn't have to be the most famous or expensive ballet school on your planet. Your planet's ballet school is the best place to start! Every dance will bring you closer to achieving your space-travel dreams. There’s no feeling quite like dancing and that's the key! You don’t even have to be a ballet superstar, every twirl, every plié and every jeté are all stepping stones on your journey to the stars! The stars are waiting for your sparkly pirouettes and graceful arabesques, and the more practice you get, the better you will become! And then one day you might even be performing at the Milky Way Galaxy’s dance gala or even performing in a nebula for aliens who have never heard of ballet before! It’s all out there, my dearies! The possibilities are truly endless! The biggest thing? To just start dancing! The energy you generate through movement can send your dreams to the far corners of the universe, I promise!
*Take Ballet History Lessons: * History isn’t just boring facts; it’s an opportunity to meet the people who invented tutu dancing in the universe! Learning about their creative thinking and innovative styles, those beautiful, graceful moves, is a fascinating way to learn how far ballet has travelled. From the first ballet ever recorded, by the Ancient Egyptians, all the way to our galaxy’s most talented choreographers, every one is waiting for you to discover! That’s the magic of ballet. You can discover everything, including what we wear for it!
*Tutu Fashion: * Never let your imagination stop! What’s the perfect colour, length, design, embellishment and, dare I say, texture? I can’t wait to see what your future holds! You could start experimenting with designs now. It all goes together! I recommend taking sewing and design lessons. I don’t just perform on my planets, I always look for ways to enhance my tutus, making each one more magical! There are literally thousands of textures in the galaxy. From materials as light as moonlight, to fabrics made from supernovas! When you visit each of the planets in our solar system you will learn a little something about the different materials in space! Every planet gives you something! If you practice enough and gather a team of cosmically-inclined tailors you can eventually even find materials in those other galaxies that make your tutu designs look truly unique, as if it is spun from a shooting star! I have my own team on Andromeda and we constantly collaborate, exchanging the latest trends across the galaxy! Imagine wearing a tutu that glistens and glows and makes you look like a nebula itself!
*Be Positive, and Spread Tutu Love!: * That’s my greatest secret! When you’re positive, it radiates from your fingertips and toes! Always be encouraging and supportive of others’ talents. Let it guide you in your dance journey and your travel journeys. Believe in yourself, dream big, dance until you’ve exhausted your legs, and get ready to embrace the endless universe that’s waiting for you. Spread Tutu Love, that's my main aim in life: getting everyone to wear a pink tutu and then we will be united across the whole universe!
See you on this cosmic adventure. This will be an incredible experience! Just keep dancing! Lots of love!
