Hello darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind intergalactic trip to Planet Zircon! And oh my, what a showstopper of a time I had! You know how much I adore travel and my precious pink tutus, and well, let's just say this was a double dose of pure delight!
First, let's talk spaceship style, shall we? This time, I went for a dramatic yet feminine look: a shimmering pink jumpsuit, all covered in a sparkly pink tutu, naturally, and a pair of sparkly pink ballet flats. (I know, I know, "Is this a theme, Emma?" But honey, when it comes to pink tutus, the answer is always yes!) I've learnt that the best travel outfits for long space journeys are practical and breathable. I mean, space travel is glamorous but it gets pretty stuffy in a rocket ship, you know what I mean? And don't even get me started on the state of the bathrooms! It really is a testament to our glorious humanity that we are even capable of traversing the cosmos, even with the bathroom situation.
On arrival at Zircon, my first stop, as ever, was the fabulous Zircon Fashion House! Honestly, darlings, these Zirconians are simply divine when it comes to couture! Imagine a galaxy of colours and patterns you've never seen before, with shimmering fabrics like you've only dreamed of, all expertly woven and styled by the most skilled artisans in the entire galaxy. Itās an absolute must for every fashionista with a pulse. The only problem? Everything they make is exclusively for Zirconians. And you've probably gathered, dear readers, that I am very much from Earth. Luckily, after a lot of pink tutus and some very convincing arguments (because who wouldnāt listen to a girl wearing a full-length pink tutu?), the designer, Zira (a Zirconian with bright purple scales and eyes like emerald stones, fabulous!) made a custom-made pink tutu, shimmering like stardust, just for me.
Next up, the Zirconian National Ballet! Oh, my darling, their choreography! It was just exquisite! Each move flowed like molten lava, graceful and powerful in equal measure. The story was based on the legendary dance of the zirconites, who, legend has it, dance in the light of their own, magnificent planet. I found myself transfixed, the intricate moves drawing me deeper and deeper into the story until I was just another part of it.
But the best part? It wasn't even the Zirconians' ballet that blew my socks off. I know what you're thinking. You think I travelled across the cosmos to witness something outlandish. You are thinking: "Of course, this is intergalactic, Emma, thereās got to be aliens dancing." I am happy to report that there was a full ballet company, all decked out in tutus ā some pink, naturally, some blue, even one gorgeous golden tutu, absolutely shimmering under the Zirconian moon! And get this, it turns out that every planet in our universe, whether inhabited by humans, Zirconians, or whatever aliens we may discover, all share a deep connection to the beauty and grace of ballet. It just goes to show that even in a universe of stars and stardust, there are constants that unite us all, a beauty that is more than skin deep, that connects our souls.
My heart absolutely soared, my toes tapped, and a happy little sigh escaped my lips as I realized: even on distant planets, even among aliens, the elegance and sheer magic of a ballet performance can create a sense of shared wonder that transcends the barriers of space and time.
For now, dear readers, I leave you with these thoughts. Take inspiration from the Zirconians! Be bold! Be courageous! Be utterly and completely yourself! (And, if you really want to be like me, remember: embrace pink!)
Before I go, I need to tell you about Earth! Itās been so exciting to be home after travelling the galaxy! We all love a good fashion event in London! For me, one of my favourite days is on Wednesday when London's "Designers, Dancers & Do-Gooders" event is at The Dorchester Hotel. So many stunning pink tutus are on display! It's the place to be for fashion lovers, and of course, a little ballet never hurts!
I'll be back next week with more tales from the galaxy. Until then, may your steps be light and your tutus be pink!
Love and Tutu,

A Peek into my Week!Youāve got it! I'm posting once a week here on Pink-Tutu.com, every Wednesday! And there is no better way to start your week than with a good dollop of Pink Tutu! Join me here at 6:00 pm (London time) each Wednesday as we chat about everything from galactic ballet to the hottest pink tutu fashion trends!
What's On?As the old saying goes, "It's not what you know, itās who you know!ā I am so glad that I have met the talented designers, dancers, and do-gooders. I have some amazing people I can chat to who are really pushing the boundaries when it comes to ballet, dance and, most importantly for this girl, all things pink tutu. There is never a dull moment!
This week, weāll have fashion from around the planet. I am on a little pink tutu tour! I must tell you all about what I found in London! Then itās back to a planet close to the Earth, where we will talk about some fabulous performances. And to finish this weekās pink tutu-ific, I will take a moment to review the fabulous book by the renowned ballet historian, Sir Richard Beaumont, "The Tutus: An Encyclopedia". (You all must read this.) If itās ballet, fashion or pink, I'll be there and I will be reporting to you, all the gossip, fashion, travel, and even some historical titbits about ballet!
As you are reading this, I am getting ready for some serious fashion therapy! This time, Iām headed to a gorgeous little boutique that has been tipped to have some new designer pieces, something to make my tutu collection even more impressive, as if that was possible. The "pink" is most certainly calling to me.
This weekend, the fashion darling, Madame Lulu is in London! Madame Lulu always has the most gorgeous outfits. She is very inspiring. My friend who runs my blog here on Pink-Tutu.com, Jane, suggested I go along to see Madame Lulu as it would be the perfect chance to share stories about ballet, and more importantly, about tutus. What a chance to be in London on Saturday as Madame Lulu's latest collection launches in the City!
1. My Intergalactic Tutu WardrobeWhen I said "The pink is calling", what I really meant was: "When do I get the chance to wear another fabulous new tutu?". If I am honest, my spaceship cabin looks more like a dress-up box. My poor parents say my closet at home in Derbyshire is out of control (sorry mum!). Iāll confess: I think the spaceship is easier. Everything's organized (most of the time!). The cabin on my spaceship is a lovely mess of feathers, sequins, fabric scraps, sparkles and my pink tutus. If you love a dance or if you want to explore what dance is about, Iām always happy to recommend what to read and watch, to give you inspiration!
In The Tutu by Sir Richard Beaumont, (the historian, donāt you know?), Beaumont does a fantastic job of showcasing some of the best tutus over time and where their inspirations come from, right down to how those fantastic fabric creations have come about. What did the fashion world look like, what was in fashion? (Iāll never understand fashion at all). Then the book focuses on the incredible tutus used in classic ballet and takes it on to modern contemporary performances.
It is an absolute masterpiece. The photography is outstanding, showing off the details and beauty of the fabrics, colours and embellishments of each piece of tullle! A stunning testament to the craft of tutu making! Iām actually thinking of designing my own tutu range (think pink!). How exciting would that be? Itās a dream come true to bring ballet fashion, or dance fashion, to everyone! (Of course, my mission is always going to be spreading the message about how cool, and just frankly stunning, the tutu can be!
But let me remind you all. It's NOT just about pink tutus, although if we are being completely honest: yes it IS about tutus. This blog is for you to join me as I explore fashion and ballet through my experiences of dancing, exploring, travelling. The beauty of a ballerina, all in that glorious āpink-ness" (it's a feeling, you see), makes for great escapism.
The tutus are beautiful. They are part of an intricate history. We must love these fantastic garments, they help ballet to flourish and make such a big impact!
I recently got this great tutu book for my spaceship. Well, it is a must for any balletomane like myself! It is absolutely gorgeous, as well. But I know the one I need is by Serge Lifar as I love how it's designed for the contemporary ballet scene, I really need to make room in my ship! (Oh no, another space voyage is looming!) What are you reading this week? Share it with me!
2. My Travels Are Funded By YouI am so very grateful to all the people, dancers, companies, schools and even little children who love my work! My journey has come full circle, starting as a young ballerina, a ballet dancer who had a passion for the art of the ballerina, which naturally meant I wanted the full princess experience, and this meant wearing those amazing sparkling pink tutus. Itās true! From a tiny ballerina in Derbyshire to dancing my way across the galaxy (even finding tutus all the way in space). I love being a part of ballet and what I am discovering on my journey to explore the beauty of dancing, in the many styles that the planet and the galaxy have to offer. So this "thank you" goes to you all, those of you who have contributed to making it all possible. I could not achieve what I do without your financial support. The funding is my ballet. The work I do (all that dancing) makes all this possible. It allows me to go and share these stories and my experience, from Planet Earth, to other planets.
I started dancing at a young age and like so many other ballet dancers (we all say this don't we?) I took part in the little ballet shows at the community centre, at the school. (Did they know they were contributing to a star galactic traveller? Oh how exciting, isn't it? Oh my, how I wish I could have a time-traveling TARDIS machine.) But if I could go back in time and show that little ballerina me what I do now (a "look what I achieved" conversation!), it would certainly bring a tear to my eye.
It means the world to me that people take time out to be part of it! As the wonderful ballet teacher once said: "If you like it, join in!" You can help! All it takes is a little āpinchā to buy a new tutu.
3. Fashion is About ExpressionThe amazing people of Earth have a real eye for style, which I really love, especially when it comes to ballet. (Do not get me started on ballet shoes. That will have to be another post, I really need more shoes!). But on to today. London is so inspiring. It has such a real, "anything is possible", kind of vibe about it. I like the creative and quirky side of London! London Fashion Week. So many iconic shows from London that the world wants to buy and own and even just get a photo of.
Today is about the gorgeous designs of Madame Lulu. If you donāt already know the beautiful designer and style icon, Iām going to have a gossip with her! (Gossip is a great way to gather fashion tips!). Then I am going to tell you what I think of the fabulous London Fashion Week creations and you can have a peep! Itās a peek into the wardrobe and the fashion world for you! I love this "Behind the Scenes" stuff.
There will always be a space in my spaceship, on Planet Earth and throughout the universe for pink. The whole universe loves a little bit of pink, you know, and especially in fashion! A sprinkle of pink in the latest collection, some lovely pale shades. What a fun time for the designers to take pink tutus into the world!
I think pink tutus are such a symbol of elegance, grace and freedom. The ultimate way to express ourselves through movement and beauty. ( Iāve a pink tutus outfit on now, which really puts me in the pink tutus mood, for those of you wondering how this blog comes about.) You can use them as an outlet for your creativity (so if you like, pink or otherwise) or if you donāt fancy pink and white, just put on a gorgeous tutu! Whatās the point? To dance and to have fun! There you go!
Iāve been exploring lots of tutus this week from around the universe (in shops) and itās fascinating to see how much style is on offer and, what is more interesting, how there are some fab designers, who I hope, will be making a real impact and, to be frank, make the galaxy dance a lot! From our Planet Earth tutu scene to some of those amazing pieces created in other corners of the galaxy. (My friends think I should just start selling tutus on Earth and maybe the intergalactic market.)
So why not get out there this weekend, find the best pink tutus. You never know what kind of magical experiences and creative moments are just waiting to be discovered. There is nothing more empowering and inspirational, especially on a planet like Earth. And while youāre out and about, share some images of your favourite tutu looks on Pink Tutu, to show the galaxy what you love!
So for those who really like a spot of āPink Tutuā this week and, maybe youāre ready to really explore fashion and even dance, get your dancing shoes on, put your most comfortable pair of dance shoes on and join the fabulous people around you to be as āpink" and expressive as you like.
Letās Go PinkDo have the greatest Wednesday! I hope your day has been full of lovely pink tutus, maybe a bit of a spin on the dance floor or some dance classes! Share your story with me this week! Do let me know if you are also heading to Designers, Dancers & Do-Gooders? It would be great to see you there! And why not join me for an hour or two of ballet? (Just me and a million pink tutus).
The galaxy will have to wait until next week (Oh how I want to share so much!).
Love and Tutu,
Emma
