Hello my darlings!
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu World adventure! Grab your favourite cuppa, settle into your comfiest tutu and let’s dive into this week’s intergalactic escapade!
As you all know, I’m Emma, your very own tutu-clad cosmic ballerina, and today I’m beaming back to you from… Planet Earth! Yes, that’s right! I’m back on my home planet for a brief visit, which is so exciting I could do a grand jeté all the way to the moon!
Honestly, it’s so good to be back! It's always a delightful reminder of the joy and beauty that exists even within the hustle and bustle of daily life on Earth. But of course, it's the ballet that really makes my heart skip a beat. And guess what?! I've been catching up with the world of Earthly ballet since my last visit, and there's so much to tell you.
Before I launch into all the fabulous happenings, let me share my absolute dream day with you: Imagine me waking up in my cosy Derbyshire cottage, sunshine streaming through the window, a perfectly pink and fluffy tutu ready to twirl around the living room in! After a delicious breakfast, I'd whisk myself off to a wonderful dance studio - perhaps the one in Buxton with the stunning views, or maybe The Royal Ballet School, which has so much history behind its beautiful building. The afternoon would be a leisurely afternoon of fashion-forward balletwear shopping in London - oh, imagine all the fabulous tutus and leotards! And to end the day? An exquisite ballet performance - something grand and breathtaking, like a classical Swan Lake, or a captivating new piece at Sadler's Wells Theatre, where you can really see some innovation and creative genius at play! Oh, what a dream day!
Now, onto the reason for my current trip to Earth... You know me and my insatiable love for the performing arts, so I was thrilled to learn that on this very day, January 14th, 2015, there’s a truly exceptional performance happening right here on my home planet: The Royal Ballet will be performing their enchanting ballet, “The Sleeping Beauty," at the Royal Opera House! I've got my tickets, my most fabulous pink tutu is sparkling clean and ready, and I'm absolutely bursting with excitement! The choreography of The Sleeping Beauty is simply stunning; it's a masterpiece, with such lyrical elegance, drama, and heart-warming storytelling! And speaking of grand and exquisite, have you seen the costumes? Those exquisite tutus are almost enough to make me blush (pink!), with layers upon layers of shimmering tulle.
Of course, every trip to Earth wouldn't be complete without a bit of tutu history, so here's a little tidbit for you. The first tutu in the world wasn’t pink, nor did it appear on stage in some dramatic theatrical ballet performance! Did you know that it was made from linen and used for its functionality, allowing for much greater range of movement for dancers? In 1830, the infamous Italian ballet dancer Maria Taglioni made ballet history when she wore her now iconic knee-length version of the tutu. Talk about revolutionary fashion! But as a dedicated advocate of all things pink and pretty, I simply adore how these humble linen dresses have been transformed into the magnificent tutu creations we see on stage today!
Speaking of fashion, I simply must tell you about my most recent spaceship wardrobe addition! A new, limited-edition tutu by my favourite designer – it's made from the softest silk, adorned with hand-sewn sequins, and in my absolute favourite shade of blush pink, naturally. Of course, no wardrobe is complete without a matching accessory, and so I purchased the most gorgeous diamond-studded hair clip – I even wore it when I visited the grand opening of a new ballet studio on another planet just last week! It truly was a spectacle!
Now, I simply must get going – the lights are about to dim and the orchestra is about to begin. I promise to write all about it in next week’s post. But before I sign off, don’t forget, if you want to stay in the loop with all my adventures, you can subscribe to my blog at www.pink-tutu.com, and of course, don’t forget to follow me on all my social media channels. It’s wonderful to have you all on board!
Stay twirling, darlings!
And as always, may your days be filled with twirls, joy and a touch of pink magic!
With a twirl and a sprinkle of fairy dust,
Emma xxx
P.S. Did I mention my spaceship is a blush pink? Naturally! And it comes equipped with its own built-in ballet studio, for those long interstellar trips. After all, a ballerina has to practice even on the most adventurous of intergalactic adventures!
