Hello, darlings! It's Emma here, and this week I'm positively bursting with excitement to share an absolutely fabulous experience with you! Buckle up your ballerina buns, grab your favourite sparkly tiara, and prepare for a trip that's going to whisk you right out of your ordinary Wednesday!
We're off to… space!
That's right, darlings, I've swapped the cobbled streets of my Derbyshire home for the vast emptiness of the cosmos, all in the name of, you guessed it, the ultimate pink tutu mission!
This week, I've taken my twinkling talent to Planet Earth (that's what they call this rather charming place, apparently!), and, my oh my, what an adventure it's been! The colours are dazzling - turquoise skies, fiery red sunsets, and the most vibrantly green meadows! But the most beautiful thing I've discovered here is the ballet.
The people of Earth seem to hold a deep affection for the art form, and I have to say, the local dance companies are just brilliant! It’s like an explosion of passion and movement, and it makes my heart soar higher than any space shuttle could.
On 2015-01-28, the date I landed here, there were actually two incredible performances taking place, both a stone's throw from each other - just another beautiful touch of serendipity from the Universe, I feel.
First, the London Symphony Orchestra was doing a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. They have an absolute legend in the baton department: the wonderful Marin Alsop, leading the symphony. You know she has fantastic taste - after all, we do share a love of pink (although hers isn't quite as intensely vibrant as mine!).
Then there was The Royal Ballet, taking the stage at the Royal Opera House. Their programme was a thrilling mix of old and new: a revival of The Sleeping Beauty, the whimsical Symphonic Variations, and the incredible modern dance work, Woolf Works. Honestly, darlings, just imagining the incredible costumes and swirling movements... My tutu was practically leaping with excitement!
After these fabulous performances, I had to explore the vibrant fashion scene in this earthly haven. This was no mean feat, as every street corner seemed to be bursting with exquisite fabrics, fabulous designers, and a vibrant energy unlike anything I’d encountered before. I snagged a few completely divine silk scarves with intricate patterns and shimmering threads (think twinkling nebulae and a hint of shimmering galaxies!) - and the pinkest, most flamboyant dress you can possibly imagine, which just screams, “Come fly with me to the moon, darlings!”
Speaking of travel, my spaceship landed at a truly incredible spaceport on this planet. It felt just like something out of a film, all sleek metal, bright lights, and humming with activity. It was certainly a much livelier landing than the one on Mercury, where everything felt very… lunar.
As always, darling, I'm fuelled by the joy of bringing the universe closer to a pink tutu embrace. You may think it's silly, but believe me, when you've twirled amongst the nebulae of Orion's Belt wearing a fabulously pink tutu, you’ll understand. It's about celebrating all the magic, beauty, and joy this universe has to offer, and that includes embracing every single pink, sparkly shade of ourselves!
Of course, I couldn’t come all the way to Earth and not take a proper peak at the planet. Imagine my delight at discovering all of the incredible dancing here: the lively ballroom scenes at some fancy palace balls, the bustling street dance performances where a young girl gave the best rendition of a little known Tchaikovsky solo I may have known!
This little trip to Earth has reminded me that our love for ballet is universal! From the celestial bodies spinning in the void to the twinkling streetlights on a quiet, moonlit Derbyshire street, it's a shared passion, a vibrant language that transcends any distance or difference.
And darling, even here, I was so busy dancing that I almost forgot, but one of the best things about being in Planet Earth was getting to taste the local food! It was delicious! From spicy vindaloo curries to sticky toffee puddings, I devoured every bite, convinced I was getting all the energy I need for a tutu-infused cosmic ballet show that would leave every intergalactic audience mesmerised!
That’s it for this week, darlings. I hope you've enjoyed this intergalactic whirlwind of ballet and beauty! Be sure to check back next week for my next blog post, which will be straight from my new digs, my sparkling spaceship. Until then, may your lives be filled with twirls, joy, and lots of beautiful, shimmering pink tutus!
Much love,
Emma x
