Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #1054

Welcome back to my little corner of the internet, my darlings! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for a brand new Pink Tutu World blog post. 🩰✨ This week, we’re whisking ourselves back down to Earth after a truly magical intergalactic adventure. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way! The universe is amazing, but there's no place like home (well, maybe apart from Paris. We’ll save that for another post.)

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, my lovelies! We need to rewind a little and go back to July 8th, 2015.

Remember those dazzling ‘galactic garden parties’ that swept through the star systems last month? Oh, the twinkling fairy lights and cosmic cocktails! Well, I decided it was time to bring that celestial glow back down to Earth. After all, my motto is: “Tutu much fun, not enough glitter!”

So, after an impromptu pirouette across the moonlit surface of the second moon of Zog 3, I hopped back into my trusty space chariot, The Pink Pegasus, and zoomed towards our pale blue planet. It’s been such a delight catching up on what the world's been up to!

Speaking of the world, a bit about me for all you newcomers!

If you’re wondering who’s behind this rather flamboyant cosmic blog, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Emma, a true blue ballerina from the picturesque Derbyshire countryside on Earth. Life without my pink tutu is almost as unthinkable as a day without a perfectly brewed cuppa (which I enjoy immensely, thank you very much!).

While most girls my age are obsessing over boys and boy bands, my heart beats to the rhythm of ballet. I live, breathe and dream tutu. (Well, maybe I don’t dream in tutu… unless I'm on stage, of course! 😉)

Since I was a little girl, the magic of dance has completely captivated my imagination. From the swishy, sparkly tulle of tutus, to the grace of a perfectly executed arabesque, ballet is simply pure joy to me. And the history! The grand ladies of ballet – Anna Pavlova, Margot Fonteyn, and the divine Dame Alicia Markova… their lives are nothing short of captivating! And, of course, the evolution of the tutu itself, from the stiff hoops of the romantic era to the ethereal wisps of the 20th century – each step a piece of art, a history lesson, and a style inspiration!

Back to 2015!

And so, here I was, back on Earth, the planet that nurtured my passion for all things ballet, a true haven for the ballerina in all of us. And guess what?! On that very day, 8th July, 2015, I found myself in the bustling heart of London, the ballet capital of England! The perfect place for a pink-tutu-loving girl to immerse herself in a world of dance, fashion, and fabulousity.

As soon as I landed (my chariot's docking station was a little cheeky – a chic rooftop restaurant above Piccadilly!), I hit the ground running, eager to embrace the buzz of this captivating city. Now, if you’re looking for a truly divine ballet experience, let me tell you, London is the place to be. And with the glorious summer season just in full swing, I was spoiled for choice.

My first stop was the Royal Opera House for their magnificent production of Giselle. My darling! You simply HAVE to witness Giselle on stage! It's the ultimate combination of breathtaking technical brilliance, heartbreaking passion, and pure ethereal beauty. I nearly shed a tear when the beautiful young ballerina who was dancing Giselle herself flung herself at the end, sacrificing her heart for her lover. What a perfect dramatic crescendo, my dears! It had me practically glued to my seat! And those ballerinas dancing like wisps of smoke in their delicate tulle tutus, I simply had to clap until my hands went numb. That, my dear readers, was an experience I'll never forget.

After the ballet, I hopped over to the Victoria and Albert Museum, my darling. It's not just a museum for the fashionable among us, no! This one's got history too, and some exquisite pieces of costumes from the world of theatre, opera and, you guessed it, ballet! I simply must show you what I discovered: The most stunning hand-painted designs for sets and costumes - absolutely incredible! If only I had a time machine, I'd go back to meet the brilliant artists who crafted these beautiful garments and stage designs!

That night, I treated myself to an enchanting dinner at The Ivy – you simply can’t go to London without at least one posh supper! The atmosphere is fabulous – just picture plush velvet, dazzling chandeliers, and the hushed murmur of conversations about art, theatre and of course…ballet! (Naturally!). After a delicious meal, I finished off the evening with a glamorous show, Strictly Ballroom. I can’t deny it – my little dance heart was swooning at all the ballroom choreography – so incredibly sophisticated and graceful.

But my trip wouldn't be complete without a little fashion therapy! Now, everyone knows that shopping is a vital part of any trip, don’t you agree? 😜 Well, let me tell you, London did not disappoint. I started my shopping spree at Harrods – they have some exquisite ballgowns there, which are practically begging for their own spaceship trip – if only I had the room! A trip to London, however, wouldn't be complete without a dash to Liberty’s, for all its charming English prints and those darling little boutiques on Carnaby Street where you can find unique and colourful outfits to dance the night away! Oh my dearies, the fashion inspiration was pouring from every corner – enough to fill an entire universe!

Now, don’t worry, my lovelies! I didn’t neglect my mission of spreading the love for pink tutus – and you know I can't go anywhere without wearing one! I even caught some admiring glances on my walk to the Royal Albert Hall, a must-see for all the London fans.

So there you have it – my 7th of July escapade – packed full of fashion, ballet and the glitz and glamor that only London can offer! And as a parting gift, I leave you with a special request, darlings! Do send me your thoughts and stories. Tell me about your favourite London ballet haunts. And what do YOU love about London?

But above all, I encourage you, to put on your tutu (pink is always a good idea, you know!), and let the world be your stage! 💖🩰🌎

Until next Wednesday, my loves!

P.S. Remember, keep your eye on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for another fabulously-pink adventure.

Love, Emma x
