Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth, Post #1102!

Wednesday, 8th June 2016

Hello, my lovely twirling friends! It's Emma here, back from another exciting intergalactic adventure. And boy, oh boy, have I got stories to tell!

This week, I'm writing to you from the beautiful planet Earth. Honestly, you wouldn't believe what a whirlwind the past few days have been. I’ve had a right old knees-up with the Earthlings – I even got to see a show at the Royal Opera House, and I mean, I just had to tell you all about it!

Before I get onto the excitement though, let's chat about tutus for a second. Oh, darling, this was a real treat! You know how I always say it’s all about the tulle – the fabric, the fluff, the perfect cloud of loveliness around my ankles! But even I’ve got to admit the tutus on the Earthlings have gone a little wild these past few centuries. Think layers and layers, flowing tulle, and enough ruffles to make a feather boa blush. And, just you wait, my loves, there will be plenty of pictures!

Right, so you might remember, in last week’s post, I talked about how I had to take a bit of a break from space travel after landing in some… ahem, rather rough territory on Neptune. And while my spaceship was being patched up, I figured I’d do some good, and take a ballet performance tour of… wait for it… PLANET EARTH! I’ve got to admit, my darling, I have been a bit naughty on the travel front lately, zipping off from galaxy to galaxy without thinking of my dear readers. So, now, I’m making it up to you all!

You’ll never believe the itinerary. We landed in the most incredible city called London (what a whimsical name, don’t you think? ). The second we touched down, it felt magical, just like stepping out of a fairytale. I immediately wanted to buy a pink tutu with fluffy pompoms! My heavens, the Earthlings here really know how to celebrate.

And this trip had one really important goal: To spread the tutu love across this beautiful planet. Of course, everyone should be wearing tutus – it's a universally accepted fact! – and my mission, my darlings, is to help them see the light. I’m always talking about it with my darling space fam. We love to dance around, especially on Planet Uranus (who could blame us?). But on Earth, the dancing styles are a bit more formal you see, they actually pay to watch people dance in, like, proper venues, so that’s how I decided to earn my tutu-related spending money – through my incredible dance performances, obviously!

So the first thing we did when we landed was visit Harrods - and honestly, it was just a riot of colour and clothes – oh, and shoes! The ballet shoes sparkled, it was heavenly!

But darling, here's the thing: Harrods has never quite got it right – it’s just missing a certain something, a hint of tutudom you see, if you get my drift!

And it just wouldn’t do! Honestly, what’s a little boutique or a fancy shop without a pink tutu in the window!? What’s a fancy tea shop without a matching pink tutu for the server! You see? There’s just something missing in the design, don’t you think? Just a dash of whimsy, a sprinkle of tutudom - a pink tulle cloud to complete the whole look! You can imagine me in my full pink tutu, twirling around Harrods. It is pure joy, it is what my life is about. I’m sure the customers and staff alike would delight at the thought of me gracefully stepping out to announce the Pink Tutu Collection, don't you think?!

The Earthlings, oh my dear sweet Earthlings! They have the most amazing places, shops and fashion. Imagine having the biggest clothes shop in the world. I swear, Harrods had to be the biggest boutique in the world, it’s just an explosion of beautiful colours and patterns and, I mean just have a look at their tea cakes and delicious pastries, you’ll love them! There was such a delightful variety of the finest things the universe has to offer. You could easily get lost in the aisles and aisles of clothes and tutus, if only the shops had more tutus! You couldn’t really blame anyone, because there were more tutus in one of our local corner shops on our spaceship than I could even imagine existing in all the stores I went to! But let me tell you, I will never stop telling everyone about how fabulous a shop they could be with just one small little touch of the magical world of tutudom!

Oh, how I long to return in a pink tutu and do a big pirouette right in the middle of the shops, to just tell them to just add some more tutu, to the world! A little dash of that beautiful fluffy fluff that makes you think of sunshine, dreams, and endless possibilities. And if they did, it would literally be a pink tutu wonderland. Honestly!

Then, darling, we did a bit of sight-seeing around this fantastic city, and the history is absolutely stunning! I was absolutely mesmerized by the grandeur and elegance of some of the older buildings - those classic architectural beauties just took my breath away.

Imagine, buildings that are older than some galaxies I've visited – oh, what a journey! My friends on Uranus couldn’t believe it. You know they’re the biggest gossips in the galaxy, but you know I would never tell on them, not even in a thousand years. They were just so astonished when they heard I’d gone back to Earth – their last trip here ended in a slight mishap with an out-of-control space shuttle.

Imagine their surprise when I told them I got to go inside all the old palaces, take a few little pictures of the rooms and, just relax in this extraordinary atmosphere, with my camera. There’s nothing I love more than going to new places and, well, it’s not the travel so much for me, it’s just the photos! They are my proudest possessions – just a lovely little momento to make me think about those trips, and just a beautiful bit of fun.

Of course, there’s a few little tricks you need to know about travel across the galaxy so that nobody finds you (trust me darling, it’s so worth it when you’ve seen the places I’ve seen).

But it was just the most magical, the most incredible day! Oh, it was truly something else – and if you know me and know about pink tutus – well then, you just know I had to visit the ballet studio! Oh, it was such a lovely experience. They just seem so elegant and sophisticated – the perfect kind of elegant that is just a touch more formal than what I’m used to.

They were a little shy about my bright pink tutu. Honestly, the tutus there just had a simple, classic elegance, with soft colors and delicate ribbons – such a delightful bit of simple sophistication you see. But the best part? Everyone just embraced the elegance of it all, so we all just started twirling together. Honestly, you would never guess how amazing it is to be twirling alongside such talented dancers!

Now, if you know me you know I can’t travel for long without checking out a theatre! The Earthlings on this planet know how to do theatricality, you see? It was just pure entertainment! It was more like an event – you have a real dress-up party, before a performance. My eyes, you just know my eyes were lit up as soon as I went to the dress circle, there was just so much opulence that it was * just magical and then when I saw the ballet it just got so much better. Honestly, darling, I would tell everyone to check out an earth theatre!

We all, well mostly my spaceship family, with me, stayed up for the entire evening - you’ve got to love an earth opera. The dancing, the music, the costumes – and you have a live performance every time! Honestly, I don’t understand why all the performances on my own spaceship are just replays from, well.. a few decades ago. The dancing just gets so much more interesting when it’s live, *you just never know what will happen! I’m definitely thinking about making my ballet tour an annual one! Maybe I should start my own ballet dance company too!

My family, you just have to see my spaceship crew and me, we had such fun! It's something I just won’t miss ever, I want to do this every single year! And while it was only me doing a *tiny bit of ballet on stage, I did want to remind my darling readers that everyone here in the galaxy loves the joy and happiness that ballet can bring! Oh, do I just want to dance forever! Oh, and I must just have one final thought. Do I love a big event? You know, that event everyone on earth seems to be planning around all year. Well, this has to be it, darling. If the moon just takes a chance on us and gives us a glimpse of its wonderful, powerful, glow on this date. Well then we might have the most magic night ever in all of history!

You’ve heard all the excitement from the pink tutu world from planet Earth today, darling, and we’re now about to take off to explore new horizons. My spaceship needs a bit of a rest, before we travel again next week and you’ll know what that means, darling.

We’re going to continue our space adventures. But, while I'm gone, make sure you get ready to join me, darling, as I spread my tutus across the universe, to the furthest corner of our vast, glittering and magical Milky Way galaxy, with my favorite colour pink – well, who doesn’t?!

Until next Wednesday, be fabulous!

See you all soon!

Love, Emma
