Pink Tutu World: Post #1111 - Ballet on Planet Earth (2016-08-10)

Hello, darling dears! Emma here, reporting live from the dusty, delightful, yet decidedly pink-deficient, planet Earth! Yes, my lovelies, it’s been another week of traversing the cosmos, and while my spaceship’s pink trim is a beacon of glorious colour against the midnight blue backdrop of space, there’s something deeply missing… a pink tutu, of course!

This week, my journey brought me to the planet you know as Earth. A place of fascinating history and vibrant, if somewhat subdued, culture! Yes, you can believe it, even on Earth there’s ballet – I discovered some particularly engaging shows!

This week I saw…

The Royal Ballet at Covent Garden, London: Absolutely divine! Such a majestic setting! The story they were telling was utterly thrilling, all about love and heartbreak and triumph! Even though my darling pink tutu was at home, carefully stored in my spaceship’s wardrobe (where it's ALWAYS kept fresh and free of cosmic dust, thank you very much!), the dancers at the Royal Ballet were captivating in their traditional costumes. And there was so much dramatic twirling – it felt positively interstellar!

A performance by the English National Ballet in Manchester: Now, Manchester’s not known for its elegance, but let me tell you, darling, they definitely brought their A-game to the stage! A little more modern, a little more edgy, this performance reminded me of my own days in the dance studio back in my beloved Derbyshire, England! The dancers were phenomenal, and even though it wasn’t quite the classic ballet, it was wonderfully expressive. I must admit, it felt quite… ā€œstreet-tasticā€! They did an amazing job bringing their love of ballet to the heart of a modern metropolis!

A performance of ā€œSwan Lakeā€ by the Birmingham Royal Ballet: A true classic! And believe me, dears, I saw everything as a ballerina in my travels: ballets, ballets, everywhere! From traditional fairy tales to contemporary interpretations, you name it, I've danced (or sat front-row and applauded to) it all! Anyway, "Swan Lake" is one of those enduring classics, a breathtaking tale of passion and sorrow… all set to a hauntingly beautiful score! Honestly, I cried a bit… just thinking about those tragic swans! But it was stunning and reminded me of the very essence of dance and the way it connects with us on a soul level.

Exploring the Ballet Shops of London’s West End: Of course, dear readers, no visit to Earth would be complete without some truly fabulous shopping! I made my way to London, specifically to Oxford Street, the home of one of the biggest fashion districts on Earth. Oh, the glorious window displays! A plethora of colours and patterns that nearly sent my pink-loving heart into a frenzy! The problem is, of course, they weren't entirely pink, and you know how obsessed I am with pink! Especially when it comes to tutus! So, while I managed to purchase some spectacular sequins for my newest pink tutu, I’ll have to leave the search for a proper pink tutu for a later date, or possibly… design one! Yes, perhaps I’ll set up my very own atelier here! My very own tutu factory… ā€œThe Pink Tutu Palace.ā€ Think about it, darling… how divine! I could even design one specifically for each of you! Yes, we need a more sparkly world!

Visiting the Victoria & Albert Museum: Of course, no exploration of Earth’s culture would be complete without visiting the world-renowned Victoria & Albert Museum in London! While it wasn't exclusively about dance, this museum contains the most glorious displays of art, fashion and design from all over the planet! A stunning journey through time… not only a joy for the eyes, but a window into the history of beauty, and of course… fashion! Did I spot any tutus in the collection? Naturally, and so many beautiful pieces, a bit of a historical dream come true! Seeing these older garments brought to life really underscored the importance of maintaining traditional values and the delicate skill required for each unique piece of fashion art! It’s an important thing, dears! Because when I create new things, I’m inspired by those who came before! And I know you love seeing historical references as much as I do! It's the cycle of beauty, evolution and creativity!

Taking a Ballet Class on the South Bank, London: You know how I love taking classes! Not just to make my movements beautiful, but also to explore different styles and broaden my artistic horizons. And this week’s trip to London was no different! Yes, darlings, this time I signed up for a ballet class on the South Bank, which, by the way, is an absolute treasure! All that pink-hued sunset reflected off the River Thames? Simply magical! I can see why everyone comes here!

You’ve got to try it, dears! A dance class can be truly magical and wonderfully energising… And oh so empowering!

Thoughts from my travels: What I’ve discovered on this trip is that Earth is a bit behind when it comes to embracing the beauty and versatility of the pink tutu! I mean, how much more perfect is pink really?!

The colour, darling! A beacon of confidence and feminine power! The softness, the grace, the sheer joy of it! It says: ā€œWe're all sparkly and happy. And why not? We’re gorgeous and we're ready to dance our hearts out!"

This journey has given me an even greater passion to spread the gospel of pink tutus across the universe! So, I challenge you, darlings! Don’t just dream it. Do it! Find a local ballet class and go! Grab some friends! Grab your favourite tutus, darling! Let’s turn Earth pink…one twirl at a time!

See you next week, dears!
