Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - #1152

Helloooo my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, your weekly dose of tutus, twirls, and everything pink! It's Wednesday, and that means a brand new blog post is here to grace your screens. Grab a cuppa, settle in, and prepare for a fabulous journey.

Today, we're back on dear old Planet Earth! You've probably realised by now, that my love of ballet isn't confined to this little blue orb. Oh no! My little pink tutu heart belongs to the stars, and the galaxies. This past week, I've been flitting about the cosmos, hopping from one celestial performance to another, with only my trusty pink tutu to keep me company (and my emergency pair of sparkly slippers, of course).

I have to tell you, intergalactic travel can be absolutely exhausting. From navigating wormholes to dodging black holes, it takes a true professional (ahem, me) to maintain the right balance between glamour and survival. But all those efforts are completely worth it when you find a galaxy filled with incredible ballet. Last Friday, for instance, I found myself dancing amongst the twinkling stardust of Andromeda, watching the most delightful nebula ballet ever.

And while I love to share stories of my spacefaring adventures, this week, it's all about Earth. And, specifically, today. That's because today, 24th of May, 2017, is a date dear to my pink tutu heart: National Tutu Day! How exciting?! 🎉 It seems the powers that be on Earth have finally realised what we all already knew, that a life without tutus is simply unthinkable. This is a day dedicated to the glorious, billowing, magnificent piece of clothing that makes us feel like ballerinas.

To celebrate this special occasion, I am, of course, hosting a big, fabulous pink tutu bash at my home in Derbyshire! I'm expecting to see the whole village there. All are welcome - from the littlest tutulettes to the most seasoned ballerinas. Think tea, cupcakes, pink decorations, and oh, so many twirls!

Speaking of twirls, this week, I am dedicating this blog to a particularly enchanting Earthly ballet experience that truly made my pink heart skip a beat: The Royal Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty. I know, I know, I know! You might be thinking "Emma, this is a classic". And yes, darling, you are absolutely right! But it never ceases to amaze me with its beautiful choreography, enchanting music, and absolutely phenomenal costumes.

I actually saw Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House last weekend, and it was just divine! Every performance is special, of course, but the energy this time was palpable. You could feel the years of tradition in the theatre itself, and the dedication from the dancers on stage. It was truly a magnificent celebration of ballet's rich heritage.

Let me tell you a little secret - if you really want to feel like you've stepped right into the world of ballet, a trip to the Royal Opera House in London is a must. It's a historic landmark, and stepping into that magnificent auditorium is almost like stepping into a storybook.

If you ever happen to be in London, especially on a day like this, dear National Tutu Day, it would be the perfect time to enjoy a grand theatrical experience - you should definitely pay the Opera House a visit! The air buzzes with a unique blend of anticipation, excitement, and appreciation that can only be found in a true palace of performance.

Of course, the Royal Ballet isn't the only ballet performance happening around the globe today (although I can definitely tell you from personal experience, that they are the best!) - but if you are searching for that "big city" ballet experience, it's worth considering!

And before you scoff, dear reader, I do want to say that, no matter where you live, the spirit of ballet can be found. Maybe it’s at a local dance academy, a theatre, or even in your own home, practicing your pirouettes with your children! No matter where you are or what you're doing, always remember to channel your inner ballerina - she is powerful, graceful, and yes, always ready to twirl!

Speaking of the wonderful local ballet scene, I spent my week back in Derbyshire doing some exploring. We're quite the little cultural hub here! Last week, I popped in to see Derby Theatre performing Romeo and Juliet - an utterly classic and romantic ballet! And you wouldn't believe it, but they even had a "dance workshop" at the theatre for budding dancers after the show! Just another reminder of the diverse offerings that are *right on your doorstep! You never know when you'll discover the perfect ballet for you!

And of course, there’s always room for some ballet inspiration. To help get your tutus twirling, let me give you some inspiration for the rest of this week! 🩰

First stop: a balletshop, naturally! Now, if you are like me, a little ballet trip to see a ballet is not quite complete without indulging in some beautiful ballet-inspired items. After all, we do have National Tutu Day today! 🎁

If you find yourself in the heart of London, and are looking for some incredible costumes to complement your trip to see the Royal Ballet,* you simply must take a trip to *Dancewear Central, nestled in the charming streets of Covent Garden. They have a beautiful selection of *tutus of all colours, shapes, and sizes. From those classic fluffy tulle masterpieces, to sleek and stylish practice tutus - Dancewear Central truly has everything. And if you are on the hunt for new ballet shoes, pointe shoes, and even beautiful dancing tops and accessories for a stylish post-performance outfit, look no further!

However, let’s not forget the rest of the country. I can't leave you hanging if you're not in the capital!

If you're in Derbyshire, like me, we also have a brilliant local store in Derby: Move On Dancewear, which also offers some of the best tutus, ballet shoes, and other accessories - and all with the kindest customer service! So remember, ladies, always take time for yourself!

And speaking of taking time for yourself, I'm already planning my next exciting space adventure - which will include a bit of cosmic shopping! I've got my eye on a couple of new celestial tutus. They are both made of shimmering nebula fabric, and I simply cannot wait to share my fabulous finds with all of you!

But that is all for now! Until next Wednesday! Keep your tutus twirling and your spirits high!

With love, and lots of sparkly pink, Emma xXx
