Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #1155

Wednesday, 14th June 2017

Oh darlings, what a fabulous day it's been! I'm back from a whirlwind intergalactic adventure and my toes are still tingling from all the twirling I've been doing. But before I get into the juicy details, let me tell you what I wore.

This trip I've been rocking my limited edition 'Galaxy Twirl' tutu. It's a majestic concoction of pink silk and shimmering celestial embroidery, a true celestial dream! And to add some galactic glitz, I topped it off with a pair of space-age holographic stilettos that could only be described as cosmic chic!

My adventure took me to...well, where do I even begin?! I've been swirling my way across the universe, popping in on all the most fashionable galaxies and picking up some utterly fabulous dancewear along the way! You wouldn't believe the tutus they have on Mars! Imagine the most vibrant red silks, adorned with twinkling meteor showers โ€“ absolutely divine!

This week, I graced the hallowed halls of Sirius B's Ballet Academy - a space-age institution known for its phenomenal contemporary ballets and strict tutus-only dress code. I just adore how they combine such cutting edge choreography with such classical fashion - absolutely fabulous!

I must admit, even the dance on Sirius B couldn't compare to a little gem I found while browsing through an alien vintage boutique...a tutu so stunning it could only be described as a Cosmic Swan Lake masterpiece. The silk was the colour of the most glorious sunrise I've ever witnessed (which, in fairness, Iโ€™ve seen a fair few as a space traveller!) and the sequins...oh, darlings, they literally sparkled like distant constellations. It's hanging proudly on my tutu wall right now - a little piece of galaxy magic I simply couldn't leave behind!

Of course, every adventure has its own challenges. One little miscalculation in a space-time warp nearly saw me transported to the wrong side of the universe (apparently tututographers aren't a recognised profession on all planets, gasp!). Luckily, I was able to gracefully land on a friendly asteroid belt (no small feat in a cosmic tututography mission!) and hitch a ride on a comet, eventually arriving safe and sound back in our little corner of the cosmos.

The thrill of exploring the unknown is one of the greatest joys in my life, but coming back to planet Earth is always a wonderful welcome.

This week on Earth, I've been totally lost in the world of Victorian dance. Ballet was in its early days, but you could already see the foundations of the form we know and love today. I loved how simple and yet graceful the movement was, and the tutus were absolute dreams - elegant, frilly and utterly charming. They say history is repeating itself, so Iโ€™m off to buy some Victorian-inspired vintage lace tutus - just imagine the looks!

I managed to catch an utterly amazing ballet performance in the Royal Opera House โ€“ such incredible talent and such elegant grace! As I watched those phenomenal ballerinas, I was reminded once again of why I adore ballet.

Speaking of the Royal Opera House, I couldn't resist venturing into their stunning costume archive. They had tutus dating all the way back to the 17th Century! Imagine that, my loves, tutus have been swirling the world for hundreds of years! The stories these tutus could tell - incredible! The curator of the archives, an absolutely delightful woman named Fiona, showed me an intricate and ornate pink tutu (who doesn't love a little pink, right?) that had belonged to none other than Fanny Elssler!

Now, darling, Fanny Elssler was a star of the Victorian stage โ€“ an absolute powerhouse! Just imagining this prima ballerina swirling through the stage in that incredible pink tutu had me practically levitating! The detail, the history, the story...it was absolutely spellbinding.

My Earthly week finished with a beautiful sunset on the Peak District (my dear Derbyshire!) I couldn't resist donning my tutu and getting a few twirls in with the spectacular scenery โ€“ the perfect end to a perfect week.

Now, darlings, I must off! My spaceship is prepped and ready for another intergalactic trip. And trust me, it's going to be spectacular! Next stop...the moon! I hear they're having a celestial fashion show next week, and they need a top-notch tututographer (and who better than yours truly to take on the role, darlings?).

Keep twirling, my darlings! I'll be back next week with all the glamorous news from the moon!

Love,

Emma
