Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post 1159

Wednesday 12th July 2017

Hello, my darling dears! Emma here, ready to take you on another journey through the celestial tapestry of Pink Tutu World! Today we’re right here on good ol’ Planet Earth, but even here, the fashion, the glamour, and the joy of ballet take me right to the shimmering heavens!

This week, I'm positively bursting with excitement because I just had the most incredible adventure. Buckle up, darlings, because this blog is about to take you on a whirlwind of colour, tutus, and…space travel! Yes, my space-faring friends, you heard that right! Pink Tutu World ventures beyond the earth-bound!

It all began last Friday, with my final performance of The Nutcracker at the stunning Royal Albert Hall in London. I'd been rehearsing non-stop, each performance more thrilling than the last. I love that final Grand Pas de Deux with the Prince – pure magic! It was the perfect way to say farewell to this beloved classic until the next festive season.

Now, here's where the cosmic journey begins…

Right after my bow, I slipped into my sequined top, dusted off my pink tutu (of course, it’s my favourite!), and raced to a secret meeting point – a top-secret hanger on the edge of the airfield, which my spacefaring friends had prepared just for me. There I found my spaceship – a sleek silver number, glistening under the moonlight – ready to whisk me away to my next intergalactic performance. This one? A royal engagement on planet Velluto, a breathtakingly beautiful world known for its shimmering turquoise skies and swirling purple sunsets.

The journey to Velluto was…well, utterly breath-taking. Picture a million constellations twinkling like celestial diamonds, nebulas swirling like galaxies of spun silk, and planets winking with the kaleidoscope hues of a thousand dawnings! As my spaceship hurtled through the void, I gazed at the cosmic panorama, letting my mind wander through a ballet of infinite wonder.

We touched down in a magnificent futuristic palace – silver and gold, with cascading crystals and iridescent columns. The Royal Court of Velluto was as welcoming as can be. Their dress sense, dear dears, absolutely divine. Think shimmering turquoise satin gowns with crystal embroidery – just darling! It turns out, Velluto's royalty are completely enamoured with earthly ballet. This royal engagement? A solo performance of Giselle. Imagine a palace garden blooming under a purple-kissed sky. The choreography, the atmosphere, the music – divine, just divine. And I must tell you, my dears, the Vellutian ballet dancers were incredibly talented. Imagine ballets infused with gravity-defying leaps and gravity-resistant pirouettes – absolute heaven! They wore delicate turquoise tutus, oh, and such beautiful pointe shoes, they twirled like glittering butterflies on stage. And, let's just say the ballet-loving Princess adored my bright pink tutu! She’s planning a visit to Planet Earth in a few months to experience our earthly ballets! The fashion there, you won’t believe. Satin and feathers, sequins and velvet – truly divine. Of course, I gave her some expert advice. A good pink tutu, darling, can do wonders for your celestial style!

Anyway, after three glorious performances for the Royal Court of Velluto (I always perform three times, don't you know!), I hopped back on board my silver spaceship, bid farewell to the Vellutian ballet dancers and their sparkling world, and set course for home. I arrived back to my earthly flat late last night, exhausted but buzzing with inspiration for my new blog post! And let’s not forget, my next earthly performance will be this coming Friday in Derbyshire, so keep an eye out on my Pink Tutu World social media pages, darling dears, for a little peak!

Oh, my darlings, I nearly forgot! I'm bursting to share my recent fashion finds. You see, on the trip back from Velluto, I made a stop at this little celestial marketplace called The Starry Silk Emporium. The shopping was simply heaven-sent. Let's just say, my closet's overflowing with stunning sequined jackets, star-shaped shoes, and several magnificent celestial-patterned tutus – all just divine.

Now, speaking of fashion, my dears…did you know that tutus, those fabulous, frilly creations, have an incredible history that goes back to the very birth of ballet? The story began with La Sylphide in the early 19th century. The famous, diaphanous skirt of tulle – think shimmering cloud, only softer – was initially used as part of the costume, and eventually evolved into what we recognise today as the modern ballet tutu.

The 19th century tutu was long and romantic – like a diaphanous dream swirling across the stage. By the mid 20th century, ballet had grown more dynamic. As ballet dancers began to leap and spin more energetically, the skirt became shorter and fluffed. A glorious, fluffy tutu with the ability to defy gravity and explode with grace. Today’s tutus, well, let’s just say, we’re in the age of spectacular fashion! From bold colours, dazzling embellishments, and ingenious fabric constructions – ballet costumes are a kaleidoscope of imagination and sheer delight!

On that note, darling dears, I’ve got to dash. I’ve a rather full schedule, what with a few performances coming up, some ballet classes to teach, a tutu shopping trip to indulge in (a tutu from The Starry Silk Emporium deserves some companions), and an interview for a new dance reality TV show, 'Ballerinas from Beyond'! I'll update you on everything later this week.

For now, keep dancing, keep smiling, and remember, a touch of pink is always just the ticket, no matter where you find yourself!

Much love, from the celestial realm, Emma
