Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth - Post #1179 - 29th November, 2017

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your pinkest, twirliest space traveller. I’m writing to you from planet Earth, back after another adventure! It’s always a delight to be back amongst the humans, breathing in the fresh air, watching the sun rise, and yes, I did just grab a massive pink croissant from the local bakery on my way here, It really is the simple pleasures that make life delicious!

You know I love to dance. I mean, obviously. Tutu clad space travel comes with its own brand of choreographic fun. So you can imagine my delight when I was invited to be a guest ballerina at the International Ballet Congress on planet Earth. You could call it a kind of interstellar “Swan Lake” gathering! There were dancers from literally EVERYWHERE: Cygnus Alpha, Zeta Reticuli, Alpha Centauri - the list goes on.

Now, let's talk tutus. Oh my goodness, tutus! I’m absolutely giddy thinking about the outfits they brought to Earth. One sparkly lilac, gravity defying number, with holographic butterflies, could rival any catwalk masterpiece, even from back home. One fellow ballerina even arrived on Earth with a massive tutu shaped spaceship! You wouldn't believe the lengths people go to in the name of dance and fashion, I tells ya! But, don't get me wrong, it was truly exquisite! I do think a bit of competition brought out everyone's most elaborate fashion creativity! I think everyone was very pleased with how fabulous it was on Earth! This planet just has the best stage lighting, the humans really know what they are doing when it comes to getting a ballet performance ready for the world.

One thing I'm definitely bringing back with me is Earth's appreciation of a classic. The International Ballet Congress opened with the most beautiful rendition of Swan Lake I have ever seen. My favourite scene was still, as always, the Black Swan pas de deux, with those impossibly strong leg kicks, graceful twirls and oh-so dramatic expressive storytelling... breathtaking!

Let's talk about performances. My dance piece, “Pink Tutu Paradise,” focused on celebrating the beauty of movement and showcasing the wonderful outfits of planet Earth - let's be honest, they are just so divine - there's nothing else like them in the whole galaxy! I even integrated a little bit of Earth's famous tap-dancing and included the signature Earth pose: “throwing your hands in the air to feel the freedom” - it really resonates with this planet's human culture. It certainly got everyone smiling!

I don't just bring back dance moves from Earth; I’m inspired by so much! The Humans are constantly reminding me of the simple pleasures - hot chocolate with marshmallows, walks in the forest (well, on my little space scooter!) - there is truly something very peaceful and rejuvenating about spending time with nature. I mean, don't get me wrong, there is nothing I love more than cruising the galaxy in my space ship, but occasionally there is nothing like an Earth sunset on a comfy sofa to relax in and remember all that you are thankful for in this crazy beautiful universe!

One of my favourite discoveries on this trip was finding a local artisan who makes custom-designed ballet shoes in every colour imaginable! It was pure heaven walking through the shelves, each shoe beautifully painted, each style a unique little piece of art! I snagged a pair in a gorgeous pink with celestial stars, a definite addition to my "On Stage" space closet.

Shopping, dancing, new experiences... what else could a girl ask for? Ah! There's one thing I almost forgot! As I walked through the Earth market, I stumbled across the most beautiful handmade tutus, delicate and airy. A beautiful white one with delicate blue embroidery just whispered, “Buy me, buy me!” My cosmic self could not resist! I do have a rule you know - Never buy less than 3 tutus at a time. A good wardrobe should always have the best choices to suit any situation!

So until next time, Earth, I'll be dancing my way back to my home galaxy, filled with new inspiration and memories, a handful of pink delights, and that beautifully crafted tutu. Be sure to join me on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday! Keep dancing, and remember: anything is possible if you wear a pink tutu!
