Pink Tutu World: Post Number 1197 - Ballet on Planet Earth! (4th April, 2018)

Hello my gorgeous little lovelies! Welcome back to my little corner of the internet! It’s me, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, intergalactic ballerina extraordinaire, Emma! Today is Wednesday, which means it’s time for another exciting update from Planet Earth! I’ve missed you all so much! I have just returned from a whirlwind trip to the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, Japan, a city that literally vibrates with colour, life, and of course, an abundance of breathtaking tutus! (Naturally, I bought enough pink ones to rival the entire Sakura blossom season!)

So, where have my sparkly slippers been taking me lately, you ask? Well, you see, I had the absolute joy of performing for the opening of the Tokyo Ballet’s spring season! The auditorium was spectacular, bursting with vibrant pinks and blues, reminding me so much of the stunning Milky Way. I had to remind myself to concentrate on my arabesques and grand jetés and not get distracted by the absolutely gorgeous light show reflecting onto the stage. Of course, my tutu twirled in a perfect spiral, my shoes clickety-clacked across the stage in rhythmic harmony, and the audience was spellbound! After all, everyone knows pink tutus are like magical magnets! 🧲

After the curtain call and a flurry of applause, I received an exquisite bouquet of white lilies and some fabulous, delicate little kawaii pink and white cookies that I’m afraid disappeared rather quickly (I’m definitely not known for my culinary self-control!) But let me tell you, that sugary burst was absolutely worth it after a rigorous evening performance. Speaking of rigorous, can we talk about how my amazing costume was hand-stitched with millions of sparkling crystals that reflected every shade of the rainbow? (That’s right, a rainbow! I didn't even have to conjure it myself with my pink-tutu powers this time. Imagine a whole outfit glittering like the northern lights!) Oh, how I love a beautiful pink tutu that makes an entrance.

I spent a glorious few days soaking in Tokyo's vibrant culture and style - oh, did you see my new pink kimono? (Naturally, it has the most beautiful hand-painted sakura flowers embroidered around the bottom!) The Tokyo ballet company was very gracious and kind enough to give me some local dance recommendations. One afternoon I took a delightful trip to a hidden, tiny dance school in the backstreets, so cute it felt like stepping inside a storybook! I managed to squeeze in a quick practice session, just to get a taste of how Japanese ballet differs from the style I’m accustomed to back in the UK. It was amazing. You see, you can never have too much ballet in your life, and I believe in being a true, passionate global ballerina ambassador!

After I packed my bags (pink luggage, naturally!), I hitched a ride on my spaceship, the Pink Ballerina, back to planet earth. (Just imagine a cosmic rocket adorned with bows and sparkles and shimmering pink neon lights - my absolute dream!) The planet earth's atmosphere looks positively divine at sunset from up above. A blend of orange, gold and purple! I always like to snap a few pictures from my travels, but remember you can find even more on my Pink Tutu instagram account, too. Follow along with the hashtag #pinktutuworld!

Speaking of planet earth... this Saturday (the 7th of April, 2018) I am attending a ballet gala in the magnificent Royal Opera House, just down the road in Covent Garden. Oh, I just adore going to Covent Garden! So much history, beauty and elegance! For my little London interlude, I've been working on a little special something... a new pink tutu that I think will blow everyone away! Let’s just say there might be some celestial sequins involved, a dash of glitter and an added sprinkle of celestial magic… (Shhh, don’t tell anyone!)

Of course, this also means shopping is a must, as it always is. London is brimming with exquisite shops and ateliers full of all the pink glittery gowns and tutus a girl could ever need! Did you know that tutus were originally inspired by Romantic ballet? (Remember Giselle? That was one of my very first favourite ballets back when I was only a young pink tutu ballerina!) So much has changed, of course. We now have these incredible modern materials, from silky chiffons to metallics, making the modern tutus not just practical, but artistic. A tutu should never be overlooked! Just like a fabulous dress, the right pink tutu really makes an event.

While I'm back on planet Earth this week, you can expect some truly epic outfit updates. It’s amazing to see the different trends of each planet, whether it’s the galactic sparkle trends of Proxima Centauri or the elegant tailoring of Saturn's Rings, I never forget to keep my pink tutu game strong wherever I go. (I believe in always pushing the boundaries of tutu fashion, darling!) Of course, I love to show you my fabulous finds from planet earth - there is so much great vintage shopping and so many interesting independent designers making amazing tutu creations.

You see, one of the things I adore about this job is spreading my pink tutu love across the universe, inspiring everyone to put their own pink spin on life! Imagine a whole planet rocking a fabulous pink tutu, maybe even a pink space suit - wouldn't that be divine? Because it’s not just about the fashion, my lovelies! It’s about how it makes you feel, empowering you to embrace your inner twirling ballerina. You’re not just wearing pink, you’re putting on a statement!

Don’t forget to tune in next week for more pink tutu adventures, straight from Planet Earth! Until then, let’s get out there and make our Pink Tutu Dreams come true. (Don’t forget to tag your pictures on social media with #pinktutuworld! )

With a final pirouette, Emma
