Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth (Post #1200)

Hello my darling space bunnies! It's Emma here, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger from Planet Earth! As you know, my aim in life is to get everyone in the universe wearing a pink tutu and sharing the love of ballet. This week, I've got some truly exciting news to share! You're not going to believe where I've been! I know, I know, every week I tell you how this week is the most amazing yet - but believe me, this time really is the best so far. This time, I'm writing to you from Planet Earth, yes, Planet Earth, that's right! You heard that correctly.

My Trip to Earth!

It’s always an adventure travelling between planets. This time, I opted for the sparkly rainbow spaceship from Glitter Galaxy Travel. Honestly, it was divine! Just the thing to set me in the mood for my Earthly explorations. My little spaceship pilot – yes, I do have my own little space-ship pilot to help me out with travel, his name's Sid, he's pretty good, he makes a really good cup of cosmic tea too. Where was I? Yes, Earth. You may be wondering how a girl who's dedicated her life to making everyone wear a pink tutu ends up on Planet Earth, well… Let's just say I felt slightly homesick this week.

And what better time to come home than during my favourite month - April! It's ballet month for me, that’s how I decide my travel schedule; it always ties in with a big performance, and of course, the big ballet season is the biggest one in April. I like the cooler weather – perfect for ballet - and what cooler weather we have been having - and the Earth's sky is looking extra sparkly too - perfect for taking photos! You wouldn’t believe the celestial views on my Cosmic Pink Tutu Blog! They’re practically out of this world, but maybe you can't judge the celestial sky as they're actually taken from Planet Earth, oh no, that is the ironic thing … or is it. Hmmm… this reminds me of that dance by Martha Graham where there are three completely different versions… one version uses a solo with three identical dancers….

But let me not distract you from my blog! I was telling you how excited I am to be home, back in my favourite corner of the Derbyshire sky. Yes, it really is nice to be home, I really miss all those little touches from home, like, for instance… the ballet school! I love the little cobbled streets - you could say I am practically raised on them! - my old dance school, my first ballet class - yes, my mother and father *insisted that I would do a ballet class, before I could even tie my shoelaces!, it *really made me love dancing...

And the Fashion!

When I visited London a couple of years ago (Yes, I can travel around this planet very easily and pretty quickly too!) I was truly stunned at the clothes… all that style, fashion… it’s very different here on the Earth! Don't get me wrong, the aliens in the cosmos can dress beautifully (it's important to wear a pink tutu to every galactic gathering). But here on Earth, people seem to dress differently based on where they are from. My trip to Derbyshire gave me the most lovely, heartwarming feeling – people here, as you all know, take immense pride in wearing a lovely tutu… and as you also know, it really doesn't matter which brand of tutu… or which colours…. If you look and feel great - then you just know it’s a good day! And to add a personal touch – for me - well, a pink tutu just makes my heart sing!

But London is completely different. Oh my goodness, there are so many designers – they are truly inspirational. Their fashion style is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in my travels. I do get the urge to dance whenever I see a particular pair of sparkly pink shoes though, there is always so much sparkly fashion – they really have embraced that bling factor... just like us galactic gals… Oh, gosh I really miss London. There’s something so electric and special about the atmosphere. It's so inspiring… I feel as though there’s no limit to the creativity to be found in that wonderful place.

Earth Ballet

While in Earthly paradise, I made sure to watch some ballets in the theatres. The ones I attended, all with Pink Tutus (of course!) were breathtaking! Earth has so much artistic history, especially with Ballet. One of my favourites, "Swan Lake", was performed beautifully in Covent Garden – that building has such fantastic character. They do still have their royal box (I think?)... I wouldn’t say ‘no’ to a proper royal event… it is, of course, a must to keep your etiquette and posture immaculate during royal occasions… you must bow… or curtsy for them. Even during ballet classes… always maintain that ballerina dignity! It all goes back to the 15th century. There’s a story behind the ballet position and how you stand, in case you haven't had a history of ballet lesson yet – if you haven’t… then please take note. Every position… yes, even the Fifth Position, tells a story, a story about the time period the steps came from…they are even written down as code in our books… Yes, ballet does go back in time…. way back … you could say… back to those dancing days! Well, those times before time. As a child, I learned from all the ballet classics, especially in a ballet class led by a world-famous prima ballerina, in fact she trained some of the dancers performing in Swan Lake… I adore stories. And in a ballet class… what stories the stories of the past are, they are stories for us to embrace today… it is about the tutu and about the art, it’s an inspiration, that you cannot explain. That's just a ballet secret! It's not written down, it's part of the *DNA in every dancer's being.*

I feel as though Planet Earth has really embraced its ballerina past, the theatres here really appreciate ballet! When I returned to the ship this week… and… well I… really didn't want to leave! It made me really homesick for home. The energy I received while exploring Derbyshire was, well…… let’s just say I really needed it. And as for the rest of you? *Are you ready for me to inspire your ballet world?

What’s to come?
