Hello my beautiful ballerinas and dapper dandies of the universe! It’s your favourite pink-tutu-clad explorer, Emma, back from a dazzling voyage across the cosmos, and I’ve got a story to tell!
Today's date is May 9th, 2018 - a day that will forever be etched in my celestial memory.
Before we delve into the exciting adventures of this past week, a little recap of what went down on Planet Earth! You all know how much I adore the vibrant colours of a bustling city, the hum of activity in Covent Garden, and the thrilling spectacle of a live theatre production. So, naturally, I was in the audience at the Royal Opera House this past Saturday, mesmerised by the beauty of 'La Bayadère' - a ballet so intricate, so full of love and longing, and utterly captivating. There’s nothing quite like being enveloped in the sheer grandeur of the Royal Opera House, surrounded by other theatre fanatics, all swept up in the magical world of the performance. Afterwards, it was off to a delightful vintage clothing boutique near Kensington Palace, where I discovered a glorious pink, feathered shawl that perfectly matched the colour of my latest tutu acquisition.
Speaking of tutus, a dear reader in Derbyshire - my home county, darling! - contacted me about a delightful exhibition of antique tutus that was taking place at the local museum. They're showcasing tutus dating back to the Victorian era, complete with detailed information on the evolving styles and design trends, along with some truly charming photos. A truly fascinating look into the history of the tutu!
Now, onto my out-of-this-world travels!
This week, I hopped on my spaceship (we all have to have a spaceship for intergalactic travels, right? I’ve called mine ‘Tutu Rocket’ - incredibly practical!) and zoomed over to Kepler-186f, a lovely planet just beyond the outskirts of the Andromeda galaxy. Now, I hear you asking: "Emma, why travel so far, to a planet that isn't exactly renowned for its fashionable folk?". And you’d be right! They wear, well, you could say their attire leaves something to be desired! But… gasps dramatically, you’ll never believe the exciting news!
They had a spectacular, utterly magical ballet competition! And who was at the forefront, inspiring these rather dull inhabitants to add a splash of colour to their lives? You guessed it: me, the pink-tutu-clad ballerina ambassador of joy and glitter. They loved it!
Now, Kepler-186f has always had this odd obsession with monochrome. Everything, from the rocks to the plants, are all shades of grey! Can you imagine? Dreadful, isn't it? My little pink tutu was a revelation! These Keplerians have the most beautiful bodies for ballet – so sleek and elegant - and it's not every day you encounter aliens who can pirouette in their gravitational field, a true challenge, especially since gravity works a bit differently on other planets! It was a delight to witness.
What started as a simple ballet class with me, teaching some basic steps and encouraging the Keplarians to get into their tutus and express themselves, became an enchanting journey of self-discovery. There were hesitant smiles and cautious nods as I started with some gentle stretches and graceful movements, the Keplarians clinging to their grey, bland outfits, unsure about this bright newcomer with a love for everything pink!
The real turning point? The waltz! When I explained the elegance, the fluidity, the story the steps tell - a story of love, grace, and the joy of expression – the light finally clicked! It was the spark they were missing! They discovered their own story, told through movement. It was glorious!
One Keplarinan ballerina, let's call her Zelda - a fantastic dancer with an incredible, almost inhuman ability to float, which she used to her advantage in the ballet - she had the most stunning purple outfit. And this is where my "Pink Tutu Ambassador" plan was activated! With a little bit of my "Pink Power" (yes, a special secret formula that adds a dash of shimmer and pink-tinted wonder to anything it touches!) she transformed her grey outfit into the most magical blend of purple and pink, with tiny sparkly details, creating a costume fit for a cosmic ballerina. And wouldn't you know it? Zelda's dazzling new outfit won her the grand prize!
That's the beauty of it, darling: pink is for everyone. It's about adding joy and confidence. A simple tutu, even one splashed with a hint of purple, is all you need to express your true self, to believe in yourself, to simply enjoy the dance of life, in any galaxy!
Now, I am off to an intergalactic ballet conference on Mars, a bit of a hike, even for the "Tutu Rocket" (it’s a bit dusty, isn't it? And did I mention those Martian Marzipans - they're a real delicacy! ). But you know I love a good challenge, and, let's face it, a bit of travel will certainly provide me with ample opportunity to get into my favourite tutu!
So stay tuned, my beloved readers, for another spectacular post about all the fun things going on in the vast expanse of our universe. Remember to subscribe to my website www.pink-tutu.com, follow my social media pages, and of course, let's all get dancing and wear a touch of pink!
With a twinkle and a twirl,
Emma xoxo
