Pink Tutu World: Ballet on Planet Earth (Blog Post #1302)

Hello, darling Tutu lovers! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World.

It's Wednesday again and I'm ready to sprinkle a bit of pink-tutu-fabulousness onto your Wednesday! This week, we're diving into the amazing world of ballet on Planet Earth!

You guys know how much I love ballet, right? Every pirouette, every jetĂ©, every pliĂ© takes me to another planet! And, talking about planets, I’ve just returned from the most extraordinary journey to a truly incredible world!

It all began last Wednesday. My week, of course, started in my favourite pink tutu. It's my "Hello, Earth! Here I am!" statement. After a quick trip to the planet's best shop for all things tutu, I landed my spaceship in London for some ballet bliss. Now, I’m a Derbyshire girl, through and through, but a visit to London, for me, isn’t complete without a visit to the Royal Opera House.

The grandeur, the history, the excitement. It’s all so intoxicating. And to make it even more fantastic, I'd managed to snag some fab front-row tickets for “Giselle.” Oh my, my, my. It’s no secret that I love “Giselle.” I love the music. I love the story. And, of course, I love the costumes.

As I settled into my seat and admired the intricate lace of my pink tutu, I knew it was going to be a truly spectacular show. The orchestra's opening notes of "Adagio" transported me to another world.

As the ballet unfolded, I was swept away. The story of the heartbroken peasant girl, the treacherous lover, the supernatural twist? Pure genius. And as for the dancing? It took my breath away! The ballerinas’ movements were fluid, graceful, and absolutely breathtaking. They made those delicate tutus seem almost like an extension of their own bodies, transforming their legs into wings of the most magical fairy-dust-kissed enchantment.

During the intermission, I made my way over to the bar where I mingled with fellow tutu-enthusiasts and gossiped about everything under the starry night sky! And of course, I managed to spot a few of the performers, sipping on champagne while discussing, of all things, new tutu styles with their dancers and choreographers.

There's nothing I love more than meeting people with the same passion. It's so fun to share our love of everything ballet. The history, the choreography, the music, the tutus - it’s all a fabulous source of inspiration.

The second half of the show didn’t disappoint, with breathtaking beauty and grace from the ballerinas. I had to stop myself from clapping along at certain points!

I left the theatre feeling absolutely energized, with enough inspiration for a million and one new dance routines and costume designs. It was the perfect dose of inspiration before I boarded my spaceship, my pink tutu gleaming under the light of London’s starry night sky.

And you know, on the subject of ballet and the history of tutus, I had a tutu-ific thought - a visit to one of Planet Earth’s museums of ballet is definitely going on my itinerary this week!

I’m a big believer that ballet is more than just a dance form; it’s a time capsule. And who better to teach me the story of the little skirt, which evolved into the fabulous tutu, than a good ol’ museum, where the stories of dance history and tutu- history meet, collide, and create fabulous ballet dreamscapes.

To keep our fabulous pink tutu journey going, I thought I’d share a few of my top spots for the best ballet shows and ballet street dancing and theatre events happening on Planet Earth today - 8th April, 2020 - all designed to inspire, wow, and remind you of why ballet on Planet Earth will never cease to enchant.

Here are just a few events for today, and every Wednesday:

On Wednesday evenings, you can check out "Ballet on the Beach" at the West Wittering Beach:

In case you're ever down by the coast of this little, beautiful planet called Earth, head over to West Wittering Beach on a Wednesday evening! Here, they put on an awe-inspiring performance by a local dance company, showcasing some truly stunning balletic displays on the sand! The sunset against the backdrop of the sea, combined with the beauty of the dancing, creates a magic like no other.

You won’t need a pink tutu for this one, although a little extra colour, from you, would definitely brighten up everyone’s day!

The Birmingham Royal Ballet: You’re bound to fall in love at The Birmingham Royal Ballet:

With their captivating interpretations of classics and contemporary masterpieces, Birmingham’s dance crew will sweep you away to another planet. From traditional favorites, like “Swan Lake,” to newer works exploring contemporary themes, you’re guaranteed an enthralling evening of artistic excellence. Their incredible skill, combined with the captivating story lines, makes the entire experience so moving and so heart-warming. They are a breath of fresh air and they remind you of all that is magical about this beautiful dance form called ballet. If you’re in the West Midlands area of Planet Earth, or even if you are willing to travel a little, I guarantee that a trip to the Birmingham Royal Ballet will bring you an unforgettable ballet experience.

Now, let’s not forget a bit of street dancing

While you may associate the world of ballet with opulent theaters and grand costumes, the beauty of ballet truly knows no bounds! There are loads of places, both in London and in other parts of the United Kingdom, where you can enjoy street ballet! I have so much fun exploring this. It's really something special to find some street dancing, then hang around for a while to mingle with the performers, to chat, and ask a few questions!

For street dancing events in London, the Royal Opera House is a must!

Oh, and did you know they have a ballet street dance crew, the London Ballet? They love a good show and will always be delighted to talk with fellow ballet fans. If you're out and about and hear about an exciting London Ballet event, do drop by! You’ll find that street dance is as magical and captivating as the theatre itself. The choreography, the moves, the atmosphere? It's all so dynamic, exhilarating, and inspiring.

I truly love finding these ballet events tucked away in little corners of the planet. And it’s all thanks to my pink tutu that I spot them, because it attracts other ballet fans from every corner of this planet!

On the planet earth, where the sun never ceases to inspire and to enchant, it’s easy to forget how fortunate we are. The dance world on this planet has so much to offer. And while there are so many different ways to express yourself and to live your most extraordinary life, we all share a common thread - and it’s that little, magnificent pink tutu that keeps on inspiring the world and beyond. That’s why we love ballet - for all it’s wonder and magic, it’s so inclusive and it brings everyone together.

I know I always tell you this - but every Wednesday is a celebration of everything pink and tutu-fabulous on the planet, in our galaxies, and beyond. If you ever feel down, you know you can always turn to Pink Tutu World!

I'll leave you with a little inspiration for next Wednesday - it’s an amazing time for all of us at Pink Tutu World! The month of April marks the end of ballet season in Planet Earth’s theatres and we're about to say goodbye to a truly amazing theatrical year!

Remember, the ballet season is winding down, but remember the amazing history and the legacy that ballets like “Swan Lake,” "Giselle," "Coppelia," and "The Nutcracker," continue to inspire generation after generation, making sure that their tutu-tiful legacy stays alive and well in the world of ballet on this little, vibrant, pink tutu-obsessed planet we call Planet Earth.

So, darling Tutu Lovers, as we’re getting ready for some new adventures, a new ballet season, and, who knows, maybe a few more dance moves and pirouettes across galaxies near and far. Remember what I always say: "Spread some pink, darling Tutu Lovers and spread it everywhere!"

Talk to you next Wednesday, and keep dancing and sparkling! Don't forget to check out the fabulous fashion updates and upcoming planet earth adventures on my pink-tutu.com website - there's always something fabulous happening over there!
