Greetings from Planet Earth, darling dears! It's your girl, Emma, back from a totally whirlwind intergalactic adventure! This week, we're heading back to planet Earth, leaving the star dust and cosmic sparkle behind (though I do have some truly divine holographic nail polish to share from my travels!) I have to confess, dear readers, I've been on the go so much lately, that even I, your always stylish and ever so organised queen of pink tutus, need a little time to catch up. I have the most fab photos from my adventures to show you, but for now, I thought I'd share a little bit about the delightful time I had here on good old Planet Earth.
First of all, can we just talk about how absolutely fabulous this week's date is? 2020-05-27! The date reads like a fashion icon's birthdate! It's got those sleek and simple numbers, with a subtle hint of daring seven. It's the perfect time to bring out those ultra-feminine pastel shades, and a touch of silver sparkles! I've even got my pink tutu all prepped and ready for tonight's ballet performance, and let me tell you, my loves, it's going to be an absolute dream.
This week I managed to squeeze in a whole heap of fabulous Earthly fun. I'm still beaming from a heavenly shopping spree! Think: new pastel pink pumps with glittery detailing, a divine floral print blouse perfect for afternoon tea, and a statement necklace with delicate feathers - a total must-have, darling dears! I simply couldn't resist. I'm always on the hunt for new finds for my Pink Tutu World wardrobe, after all!
Speaking of must-haves let's not forget a quick trip to the ballet! There's nothing quite like a good ballet show, is there? You can just feel the sheer elegance radiating from the dancers, those perfectly pointed toes, the beautiful music – it just fills you with pure joy, you know? I even managed to snag a front-row seat, just close enough to admire those stunning diamond encrusted tutus.
The Story Behind the Tutu
I know many of you adore ballet like I do, so I couldn't possibly skip the chance to chat a little bit about its rich history. Believe it or not, the humble tutu, a must-have for every ballerina, actually had quite humble beginnings! It all started in the early 1800s when the romantic ballets like La Sylphide became hugely popular. The ballerinas in those times loved wearing full length skirts which swished about in every move - quite the showstopper. However, as the dancing evolved and became more dramatic, those bulky skirts just weren't practical! That’s where the iconic tutu we know today popped onto the scene!
* * From Romantic Ballet to the 'Tutu as We Know It' - To make it easier for ballerinas to showcase their dazzling movements, the skirt had to be shorter and lighter. Initially, they had this beautifully romantic look - think layers and layers of soft fabric billowing out, oh so beautifully. * * But Wait! - Those romantics soon moved on to a more elegant and practical form. Over time, ballerinas started experimenting with shorter and tighter skirts - which perfectly displayed their sleek and beautiful lines. By the mid-1800s, that now iconic short and tutu-tastic look came into fashion, made of layers of fine tulle or net that create the beautiful shape we know and love. * *Oh my! What about the 'Tutu' Word? * - Did you know that the 'tutu' word isn't really English? In French it’s a little more down to earth- ‘tulle’, meaning ‘fine gauze or netting’. Perhaps we could call it a ‘net-skirt’, it does make more sense logically doesn’t it? But hey, the 'tutu' sound is simply irresistibly chic , isn’t it?!
Fashion Inspiration from My Travels
Talking of elegance and fashion, I couldn't possibly let the week pass without sharing some of the incredible styles I came across during my space travels. There was this planet, with all its shimmering lavender sunsets - absolutely heavenly, by the way! I picked up some utterly divine space-age inspired pieces there – holographic dresses, neon pink space suits (yes, they look incredible!), and even some sparkly metallic footwear! It’s totally not for everyone, darling, but I had to bring some of those cosmic goodies home!
Here's what else was on my fabulous Earthly itinerary:
* * I treated myself to a fabulous picnic lunch at my favourite English rose garden - all pink blossoms and deliciously fresh sandwiches! And, oh! Of course I couldn't leave without some snaps for the gram. It’s simply dreamy darling! * * This week’s planet earth news saw the launch of Earth-themed products by a well-known skincare brand – inspired by Mother Nature! They even included a blush-coloured facial serum that gives your skin that healthy rosy glow – absolutely divine for that youthful radiant look! * * I met the fabulous designer of my new, totally unique, pink tutu which is going to make its premiere this weekend at a ‘vintage tutu’ show - you can’t imagine how much it makes me smile! I’ll be sharing lots of snaps on social media – don’t forget to follow my page if you’ve not done so already.
It’s Time to Embrace the Pink!
You see, darling dears, fashion is a beautiful journey! It's about expressing yourself, having fun, and discovering what truly makes you feel like the divine goddess you are! You don't have to be on a space voyage to explore the world of fashion. Just put on a beautiful pink tutu and you’ll be ready to take on the world, dancing your way into the ultimate joy and creativity! Don’t forget, the universe is waiting to see you in your most fabulous pink tutu - now go on and be your very best pink-tutu-clad self!
Stay glamorous, my lovelies, and keep that sparkle alive! Until next Wednesday, I’ll be floating on clouds, pink tutu forever!
Emma
