Welcome back to Pink Tutu World, darlings!
It's Wednesday, 30th June 2021, and you know what that means - a brand new blog post, just for you! This week, I'm bursting with excitement to tell you all about my recent trip to... Planet Earth! Yes, that's right, I've been back amongst the humans, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast. π
As you know, I'm always eager to share the joy of ballet and all things pink tutu-ific, so I decided to hit up the Earthly realm to see what all the fuss was about. After all, I'd only been here once before for a ballet class back in the early days of my space travels. This time, however, I was determined to really immerse myself in all things ballet-related on this gorgeous, blue planet.
And believe me, there was so much going on. This visit really had me whirling with excitement! π©°
The Perfect Outfit for an Earthly Adventure
First things first, what does a stylish space ballerina pack for a visit to Earth? Well, darling, it wouldn't be a trip of mine without a touch of sparkle and a whole lot of pink, naturally! For my journey, I selected a blush-toned tutu, a sequined bodice that glistened with every twirl, and a pair of feather-light pink ballet shoes that twinkled with every hop.
Of course, I had to complete the look with a pair of shimmering pink platform heels for when I was strutting my stuff on the streets. The whole outfit had a bit of a 'retro futuristic' feel - perfect for a galactic explorer venturing to a planet known for its history and love of the flamboyant!
Ballet in London: A Whirlwind of Talent and Fashion
The first stop on my Earthly itinerary was London - a city known for its amazing museums, incredible shopping, and of course, its breathtaking ballet scene! I was completely giddy with anticipation to catch a performance by the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House. Let me tell you, those dancers are truly something else! Such incredible grace and poise. The way they made every movement look so effortless was simply divine. β¨
And the costumes, darling! I was particularly mesmerized by the tutus - so fluffy and grand, it was almost like seeing a vision from a fairy tale! Each outfit seemed to have a story, and the intricate detailing on those beautiful gowns simply had me captivated.
The whole atmosphere in the Royal Opera House was absolutely magical. You could feel the passion for dance swirling in the air. Afterwards, I had the most delightful time strolling around Covent Garden, soaking in the buzzing energy of the city. Of course, no trip to London is complete without a bit of shopping. ποΈ
And oh my, London truly didn't disappoint! I picked up a vintage lace tutu in the most stunning shade of coral, a dazzling gold headband, and a pair of the cutest pink ballerina flats I've ever seen. All for my personal collection, naturally! π
A Bit of Ballet History on the Derbyshire Moors
After London's whirlwind, it was time to return to my home planet. But not without a visit to my roots, my beloved Derbyshire! There's something about the rolling hills, the fresh air, and the charming little villages that makes me feel grounded. It's a lovely place for a little wander, particularly if you're a fan of the picturesque. π³
But this time, I was looking for a little history. It's no secret that I'm absolutely mad about the history of both ballet and tutus. I always love to learn more about the origins of these incredible art forms, and what better place to do that than my home county? So I ventured out to the National Trust's Chatsworth House and had a wonderful time learning all about its beautiful grounds and fascinating connections to both fashion and the performing arts.
Chatsworth was owned by the Cavendish family for centuries. Did you know, one of the Dukes was actually a keen dancer and performer in his time? That really sparked my imagination - all those Dukes, some more stylish than others, but always so connected to dance and the arts. It reminded me of the connection between ballet and the aristocracy and all the glamorous and opulent costumes of those eras!
I finished my day with a delightful picnic on the rolling hills, reflecting on the rich history of the region.
*Back to Planet Earth (Eventually) *
My visit to Earth was simply extraordinary. From the dazzling performance at the Royal Opera House, to the captivating ballet and fashion history of Chatsworth, this planet had a little something for every pink tutu enthusiast! β¨ And with a trip to London to indulge my shopping whims, what more could a girl ask for?
This little adventure on Planet Earth has been so inspirational. Thereβs still so much to see and experience out there in the universe - so much to explore and to learn! As always, I hope you enjoyed my ramblings.
Next week, darling, Iβm planning to finally catch the latest intergalactic cruise to Neptune. I heard the underwater ballet shows there are absolutely out of this world! But don't forget to check back next Wednesday, 7th July for all the details, on Pink Tutu World! β¨
Remember, life is always more fabulous in a pink tutu!
With love and glitter,
Emma ππ©°
