Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu World! I hope you're all twirling and twirling, and if not, maybe it's time to grab a tutu and get your twirl on!
Today, I'm whisking you away on a whirlwind tour of Planet Earth! I know, I know, we've been here before, but trust me, there's always something new to discover! This week, I'm taking a little break from the cosmic voyages and settling back into my roots. And by roots, I mean, my tutu collection, naturally! š
I'm still utterly giddy about my intergalactic escapade to Neptune last week, though. Imagine: Neptune, all icy blue and swirling, with the most extraordinary ballet company, the Nereid Nebula Ballet, showcasing a breathtaking performance of The Little Mermaid (in space!). The mermaids there were exquisite! Think shimmery blue scales, shimmering tail fin extensions and pointe shoes crafted from glittering ice crystals. I even saw a few starfish twirling along, though the tutus seemed a bit too big for them...
Speaking of tutus, I managed to find a super adorable shop on Neptune, The Galaxy Galleria. Honestly, the whole store was a dazzling delight. I even snagged a few pieces for my new collection back on Earth: a stunning turquoise, shimmering tulle tutu, a galaxy-print leotard (just look at the sequins!), and some sparkling holographic tights. Just dreaming about my next outfit idea!
But for now, it's all about Planet Earth, darlings! This week's Earthly delight? The Royal Opera House, right here in my home city, London! As an earthling, you just can't beat the experience of a proper ballet. They've just announced their Fall Season, and let me tell you, my tutu is practically trembling with excitement! We've got the incredible Royal Ballet performing Romeo & Juliet, a La Bayadere production, and the highly anticipated Giselle! You know, the one with the creepy Wilis who, well, let's just say they don't take "no" for an answer when it comes to men... I mean, that kind of choreography requires a serious, full-on tutu with more than a few layers to protect a ballerina's... errm, emotions, shall we say?
Of course, it wouldn't be a proper Pink Tutu World post without some Earthly tutu history, would it? This week's historical gem? The Tutu Royale, a spectacular garment worn by the famed English ballerina, Dame Margot Fonteyn! Now, I know what you're thinking: pink? Absolutely! Imagine it: this majestic pink tulle, all wispy and shimmering, with little pearls sprinkled across it like a star-studded sky! Dame Margot wore this magnificent tutu in her final performance of Swan Lake. Oh, and the details! Each petal of the swans' headbands and feather decorations for the black swan? It was all made by hand and hand-sewn into place. A real work of art, my lovelies! You see, tutus aren't just for dancing, they are also beautiful expressions of craftsmanship and art!
I think my obsession with tutus has taken root deeply here on Earth. š This week I discovered a new boutique, "Twirling Tales", just down the street from my flat. Imagine! It's the perfect spot to shop for all your tutus and accessories! I have a sneaky feeling this boutique might be a regular destination on my weekly visits to London. There are vintage tutus everywhere, and the shopkeeper is such a sweet, older woman. She tells stories of "ballet days of old," how tutus evolved throughout history. Itās fascinating. Thereās nothing quite like hearing how ballet fashion, especially tutu fashion, has developed over the years! This boutique reminds me a bit of "The Cosmic Conservatory of Tutudom" from my recent trip to Saturn. It seems that love of tutus spans the galaxy.
Of course, I couldnāt leave Planet Earth without mentioning our "Ballet in the Parks" event on Friday! It's going to be an absolute dream, with performances from dancers of all ages, from our local dance academy. The idea is to bring the magic of ballet to everyone, and what better place to do it than amidst the sunshine, flowers, and fresh air of our park? They are having the entire production take place in an old rose garden, which is just adorable!
Let's take a moment to admire some tutu magic. Speaking of parks and gardens, how gorgeous are these vibrant colors and flowers from our little visit to London's Kensington Gardens today? My tutu, naturally, made the perfect companion. I'm a sucker for a pink picnic!

And look at the vibrant purple dress! A new favorite for my wardrobe. Did you know that thereās a huge ballet street scene happening in London? This isn't the only ballet that's thriving in London. There's street ballet! You wouldn't think to see it in an everyday London setting, but when you look at it from the right angle and through the eyes of a dancer, there are a hundred impromptu ballerinas dancing all over London, often within sight of a traditional ballet production! Iām a fan! I actually had a wonderful time just watching some ballet dancers as they worked their way through a crowd. I felt like the entire city was transformed into a ballet!

Speaking of a bustling London scene, this Wednesday is also my favorite night at the local restaurant in my hometown of Derby. Every Wednesday night they hold a "Ballet Supper Club" night! The restaurant puts on a ballet-themed dance show, while guests have supper. Itās all so glamorous and exciting. The dancers from my hometown ballet school take turns performing! It's a delicious and fabulous experience and great entertainment!
Oh, and before I forget, you know I love to shop, especially in a city as stylish as London. One of the highlights this week was checking out a new department store, āThe Ballerinaās Boutiqueā. Itās a store devoted to ballet supplies! They sell every type of tutu imaginable, tights, leotards, dance shoes, costumes, accessories. There was even a section dedicated to pointe shoes. Oh my heavens, so many pretty, fluffy shoes in a million shades of pink! This store had my mind swirling with new wardrobe ideas! Who doesn't love a bit of retail therapy?
Now, my lovelies, you know the drill: get twirling, get fashionable, and let your inner tutu-wearing ballerina shine. Until next Wednesday, may your week be full of sunshine, sequins, and, of course, plenty of pink!
Stay twirly, Emma x
