Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, back from another intergalactic adventure and absolutely bursting to tell you all about it. Today’s post is all about the incredible planet I recently visited – Planet Earth! It's so exciting for me to bring you my “Ballet on Planet Earth” post. Did you know? Wednesday, 1st June 2022 is the day the universe was first touched by a Pink Tutu on Earth! I just had to go see what was going on. You might say, “Emma, you were already on Planet Earth!”, and yes, I did visit in the past. I hail from Derbyshire, England. It’s truly lovely there, the air smells so green and I swear I hear the fairies talking in the flowers! But, it’s been a while since I had a proper wander about and with all this "global ballet scene" talk going around, it was the perfect excuse to get the spaceship up and running and visit my roots again!
First, though, let’s get this post into the right “tutu” vibe. The colour pink just goes with everything! I mean, you don’t want to be going on adventures looking dull now, do you? So, without further ado, let’s have a proper girly girly pink moment and get that lovely pink feeling…
Think about your absolute favourite pink thing. Is it that gorgeous blush silk dress that makes you feel like a princess, a sugary-pink marshmallow treat, or maybe even your beloved cat's whiskers - in the most gloriously delicate pink tone? Yes! All those glorious pinks are swirling through my head! I absolutely love the color pink and the soft, bouncy vibes of my favorite tutu!
Here I am, looking like a perfectly pink ballerina fairy at this fantastic show… (Click here to see picture of Emma in pink tutu outside a theatre, she's smiling).
This was a perfect introduction to Planet Earth. I arrived a few days early and wandered through a glorious town I knew so well. Oh my, all the pink blossoms on the trees were so beautiful and vibrant – even better in person, darling, like magic! It's easy to understand why artists spend their lives trying to capture that shade of pink with paint. Pink perfection is just everywhere!
Now, on to the real reason for my journey - the Planet Earth's ballet scene! I headed over to see a fabulous show called “Swan Lake” (very iconic, right?) – and let me tell you, the dancing was heavenly! These ballerinas had the most gorgeous pink-toned tights, like the skin of a newborn swan, but… sparkling! It was magical! And don’t even get me started on their ballet shoes! Those beautiful satin slippers are the only kind of shoe I can really condone!
But don't think for a moment it's all about pink shoes. There are so many types of shoes and looks that truly reflect a dancer's story and performance! Like en pointe ballet, where a ballerina elevates the artistry with stunning moves, a graceful lightness, and an ethereal beauty… There’s just a magic about those incredible moments – you can truly feel the power of graceful storytelling, and all I want is to show everyone how stunning and strong it all is!
I took notes of the show, too. These dancers, they really know their ballet! The classic routines, the perfect transitions between leaps and twirls, they had it all. Even their faces - expressions that convey everything - you know, like, love, despair, fear… and they really drew me into their story! So incredible, and of course I just had to meet them afterwards! Oh, they were lovely. They loved hearing about my Pink Tutu mission – I had them practicing a “pink tutu” curtsey, they found it very humorous! Ha-ha!
It’s all about spreading the love for ballet – it's like an ethereal journey, like looking through a prism – you’re always finding new light and colours, and new ways to tell stories – always! I can't wait to share some more pink-tastic photos of the dance troupe, and the pink dresses, from the “Swan Lake” party with you all! Stay tuned for my next blog post with these gorgeous shots!
Now, it’s not just ballet shows that I visited. Remember that “ballet street” concept we talked about in previous blogs? Well, the earth has a really interesting scene. I spent a while wandering about London, and even got a couple of photos of the beautiful dancers. London's a real mecca for all kinds of dance performances, you really never know what’s around the corner, and the energy of a performance… Well, it really takes you somewhere else… Don't forget the shops! A ballet fan needs her gear – ballet slippers, ribbons, and outfits for classes!
Speaking of gear… There's a ton of tutu history on this planet, believe me! There are shops here that even sell tutus to everyday people, they call it "fashion”! It’s not uncommon for people to buy a pretty tutu for… a birthday? A picnic? Or even just… because! They wear them to weddings, birthday parties, sometimes even casual gatherings! This Planet Earth, with its "casual tutu", is really going somewhere! Maybe one day everyone here will be twirling about in pink, right?!
*My new planet earth ballet friends are a great example of “balletical-evolution”, darling! * So exciting!
I’ve also started working with this super cool fashion stylist! He calls it "style” which means … clothing for ordinary things, just for looks! What do you think, darling, is there really too much style?! Maybe, with all the great designs in my wardrobe… maybe I could… bring him around to the pink-tutu concept, eh?!
Now, onto something more historical. I wanted to delve into Earth’s ballet history, and the Royal Opera House – it was magnificent! A huge, iconic place. It's said that it’s “The Place to be” on Planet Earth for opera, ballet and culture in general. So I felt like I just had to see it for myself, didn't I? Of course I did! I was able to visit the beautiful Covent Garden where the Royal Opera House is located – absolutely stunning! The whole area is so elegant and beautiful, just picture perfect with street performances and flowers – you can just imagine your ballet slippers on the cobblestones! * It’s even close to my *old favorite place to visit when I lived in Derbyshire - The London Palladium – It’s really wonderful. If you find yourself in this neighborhood, do go have a little wander.
And you can’t miss the Royal Ballet performance itself! It's a tradition! From "Swan Lake" to "Cinderella", you’ll be surprised by the depth of their performance, a story so classic, but somehow… so fresh! You can just feel the historical significance of the stage itself – I took many, many photographs so you could see for yourself. There's even an enormous chandelier, like a glorious, pink crystal crown over everyone in the audience. Just picture it! This kind of performance has tradition that’s hundreds of years old! Oh darling, you're not going to want to miss out on this.
This Planet Earth - full of ballet history, performance styles, and even an everyday kind of ballerina, well... It's a beautiful thing!
To tell you the truth… It feels like there's a lot to share with the other planets, about how Planet Earth got so invested in this incredible dance, you know?
It’s time for my flight back now, but I’m already planning my next Earth adventure, maybe for London's "The Festival of Dance"? Of course! Why not? Planet Earth is going to become a ballerina paradise.
So darling, this one’s just a glimpse of Planet Earth. I can't wait to share more with you about all the ballerina magic here.
See you all on the next Wednesday post!
