Darling readers! As you know, I’m an avid traveller. A passion for exploring the galaxy is just part of my DNA, you see. But this week, it's been so good to be back on Earth! My darling, Derbyshire is calling to me.
And while I’m all about space adventures and stellar tutus, it feels so good to reconnect with my roots. After all, where did my love for tutus even begin? Right here in this sweet spot in the English countryside!
And that brings us to this week's theme, the ultimate expression of all things feminine and delightful: ballet!
You see, ballet is what truly puts the "Pink" into Pink Tutu World. It’s about swirling layers of tulle, exquisite dance steps, and graceful leaps that could make a star-struck angel swoon!
Remembering The Beginning...
My passion for ballet began ages ago, when I was just a little girl twirling in my granny's living room, clutching my favourite fluffy pink teddy and pretending to be a ballerina. (It actually ended with a lot of giggles and the occasional tumble onto the rug, which Granny found endearing but also a tad disruptive, but hey, I was a girl on a mission!)
My first visit to a real ballet was a magical revelation! The costumes, the music, the graceful movements – it filled me with such an electric thrill that I was left speechless! And all I wanted to do was hop on stage and twirl in a pink tutu right there and then!
You know me, right? The girly girl, the dance enthusiast who lives for sequins, shimmer, and tutus that gleam under the spotlight. I wanted to embody all that elegance and beauty!
That was the spark that ignited my love of ballet and eventually, helped set me on my intergalactic journey!
From Derbyshire To The Stars
My journey has been long and winding. It involved lots of training at Derbyshire Dance Academy (wearing a few strategically-chosen, shimmering pink tutus of course!), then several years of dancing in street theatre performances, theatre shows and some rather memorable ballet flash mobs, to boot. These performance ventures enabled me to fund my interstellar ballet adventures, allowing me to hop onto my spaceship and embark on the trip of a lifetime!
My mission? To spread the love of tutus!
I have performed at countless galas across the universe, bringing together some of the most talented dancers from far and wide. And, of course, every single one of them is wearing their finest pink tutus! My vision is that, someday, the whole galaxy will be rocking the ultimate feminine dance accessory – the pink tutu!
It’s not about what you wear, but what you do in it, darling!
A Day Of Delight On Planet Earth
Now, you’d think, with all that travelling, I’d have seen every ballet company under the galaxy, right?
Wrong! There’s always something new to discover in the universe, including right here on good old planet Earth!
Today, I am catching the most enchanting production by the Royal Ballet here in London. A full performance of "Giselle" at the Royal Opera House! Oh, darling, you've never seen anything so beautiful! The sheer artistry, the costumes – I just love that the corsets and skirts are designed to create that ethereal, delicate beauty that really complements the female form!
This show is a perfect example of how dance, especially ballet, celebrates the feminine form in the most exquisite way! No need to show off, darling, just dance, move and let the music move your body and your spirit!
And I'm not just going to watch it, no siree! I’m taking a front-row seat. I'm just a tad obsessed with the tutudrama involved in this show - especially when I get to see it in this exquisite and historical setting! (Did you know this theatre has been around since the late 19th century?! )
Don’t get me wrong, I love discovering new choreographers and dance companies from far-flung planets, but sometimes there's something so utterly charming about a classic like Giselle, done by a world-class company, performed in this glorious venue!
The theatre is bursting with glamorous people. They all seem to be looking fabulous, and honestly, who can blame them? The energy here is positively electrifying – almost as vibrant and colorful as a Pink Tutu World outfit!
Oh darling, my head is spinning! This has been a wonderful day and such a reminder of why I absolutely adore ballet! I've seen an extraordinary ballet, and absorbed some of the beauty, grace, and elegance. Now it's time to slip into something comfortable. * Maybe a shimmering pink tutu? Hmmm...*
