Greetings, dear fellow Tutu-thusiasts! It's your favourite Derbyshire lass, Emma, and boy, have I got a treat for you today!
It’s Wednesday, the day I usually whisk you away on a journey to some fabulous corner of the universe (with my trusty pink tutu in tow, naturally!), and I can’t wait to tell you all about my amazing trip to Planet Earth last week, on 7th September, to be precise.
Oh my, where do I even start? The sheer wonder, the fabulous costumes, the intoxicating air of creativity… I think I might just have fallen in love with Earth all over again!
Now, before you accuse me of forgetting my Pink Tutu Mission - to dress the entire universe in pink tutus, my dears - let me assure you, it was front and centre on this trip! I wouldn’t dream of letting down the cause!
The purpose of this particular trip, however, was a little different. You see, as I am on this eternal quest for everything tutu-tastic, it wouldn’t do for me to only focus on the universe at large. Sometimes, even an interstellar traveller like me needs to ground themselves in the very roots of our shared love of tutus - Earth, the planet that birthed the glorious garment itself!
A Pink-tastic Dance Adventure in London
As soon as my spaceship touched down at London’s Heathrow, I found myself in a world of fashion. London is a fabulous melting pot of style, where high-street chic blends with avant-garde fashion. Of course, I had my pink tutu ready - in this case, a luxuriously soft, layered tulle design adorned with glittering pink sequins that shimmered under the city lights - and as soon as I stepped onto the cobbled streets, I was instantly whisked away to the fabulous shops of Bond Street. Shopping with a pink tutu on? Definitely a first in London. I can only imagine the bewildered stares - but who needs a map, when you're rocking a pink tutu, right?
But before I indulged in the retail therapy of a lifetime, it was time to embrace the heart and soul of the tutu – ballet! The Royal Opera House was the stage for my first taste of the night. As the curtain rose on the captivating ‘Sleeping Beauty’, my senses were transported to a magical realm. The precision, the grace, the breathtaking beauty of each move - it was pure poetry in motion, my dears. The ballerinas twirled and leapt across the stage, their costumes swirling like ethereal clouds of tulle - every movement infused with passion and elegance. And oh, those tutus - so many fabulous designs, both classic and modern! My eyes literally bulged as I witnessed firsthand the evolution of the tutu through the ages, each one adding a unique thread to the grand tapestry of ballet history.
Now, my heart knew this couldn't just be about ballet classics. I craved the raw energy and passion of a contemporary street ballet show - the fusion of dance styles and a raw, authentic experience. I spent a glorious evening at the 'Roundhouse' in Camden, completely mesmerized by the raw, vibrant energy of the performance, the mix of ballet, breakdance and hip hop - utterly fabulous! This modern street ballet showcased the versatility of tutus and ballet itself in a whole new light! You see, my dears, it’s not just about the grandeur of traditional ballets – it’s about finding the magic of the tutu, whether it’s in the elegance of a classical piece or the bold audacity of modern dance.
The London Ballet was the final act of my dance-filled adventure. I couldn't resist spending an evening in this breathtaking theatre - what a historical treasure. It's almost as if the history of the tutu was painted on every brick of the building. As I stepped inside the theatre, I could feel a certain magic in the air.
But you know me, there was so much more than dance in this wonderful trip to Earth! I simply had to indulge in a little London fashion. The vibrant, diverse styles of London truly stole my heart, and as you know, fashion is not a crime when you have a pink tutu! My first stop was Harrods, a shopper’s paradise! From haute couture to trendy street fashion, the styles just seemed to jump right out at me.
Of course, no trip to London is complete without a little afternoon tea, an iconic tradition that’s both luxurious and charming. I found myself in the opulent surroundings of The Ritz Hotel. I sipped delicate cups of Earl Grey tea, indulging in dainty sandwiches and freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam. What better way to end a fabulous day?
The very best part about this particular trip was sharing it all with a few lovely fellow ballet enthusiasts from Derbyshire. My blog post just wouldn’t be complete without sharing my fun with other members of my ‘Pink Tutu World’ community. We all got dressed up in our tutus for a ‘Pink Tutu Tea’ party - imagine! Our pink tutu outfits truly transformed a rather mundane hotel room into a haven of girly charm. And the photo shoot? It was absolute magic, you just have to imagine it! Pink tulle, sequins, giggles and a whole lot of tea – what more could a tutu-loving soul ask for?
I’m constantly being asked what I do with my ‘Pink Tutu’ fund, my lovely blog readers. Well, I like to share the joy and spread the word about all things tutu. As you know, my travels to each corner of the universe are funded by my ballet performances, you see, and all the joy that comes with dancing and performing! It’s all in service of the pink tutu mission! I've held workshops and even donated tutus to a charity that supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds – a chance to empower girls from every corner of Earth, to encourage them to follow their dreams and express their individuality. It makes me happy to spread a little pink tutu magic and joy across the globe!
I’m already planning my next big pink-tutu adventure, but let’s just say that Planet Earth will definitely be high up on my list! You’ll all have to join me in another wonderful blog post to see just what amazing things will happen next!
And remember, my lovely readers - embrace the beauty of tutus. Be creative, be bold, and don't be afraid to shine in a fabulous pink tutu! It’s not just a piece of clothing – it's a symbol of grace, beauty, and self-expression. Let's keep spreading the pink tutu love – together!
Until next week, keep those twirls high!
XOXO, Emma
