Hello, darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-clad space traveller, Emma, back with another blog post from… well, Planet Earth this week, to be precise! It’s been a whirlwind week of swirling skirts and stellar discoveries. Honestly, my head is still spinning from my intergalactic travels. So grab a cuppa, settle in, and let me spill the tea (and perhaps a few glittery sequins too!) on my latest adventures…
As you all know, my life is a magical tapestry of tulle and twinkle. Ballet is my lifeblood, pink is my soul colour, and tutus are my uniform for navigating the cosmos! But when I’m not floating across distant galaxies, I'm back on my home turf, Earth, soaking up all the delights that Derbyshire, England has to offer.
Derbyshire Dreaming:
Speaking of home, let’s talk Derbyshire! This beautiful county has been in the spotlight this week. We’re celebrating the harvest festival at the Chatsworth Estate - talk about a feast for the eyes! Think endless fields of golden wheat, towering sunflowers, and the sweet smell of ripe fruit. This, of course, wouldn’t be complete without a twirl in a flowing pink tulle skirt! A tutu doesn't just belong on stage, darling, it’s for everyday adventure!
The highlight was the harvest supper in the grand ballroom! Can you imagine, darling? An 18th century ballroom overflowing with delicious food, music, and, of course, dancing! I felt like I'd stepped out of a Jane Austen novel, except, well, you know, I was rocking a vibrant pink tutu!
* Ballet Under the Stars: *
After a day of Derbyshire bliss, I decided to venture out for an evening of pure balletic ecstasy! My love of dance knows no bounds. Even when I'm amongst the stars, I still yearn for the elegance of a well-executed pirouette or the dramatic intensity of a powerful grand jeté.
This week's balletic delight took place in the Royal Opera House. Yes, darling! The grand, prestigious venue known for its exquisite ballet and opera productions. They hosted the world-renowned Bolshoi Ballet performing the timeless masterpiece, Swan Lake. It was pure magic, every single move an artistic stroke of brilliance.
It got me thinking about tutu history - those glorious creations! Ever since their debut in the mid-18th century, they've been gracing our stages, evolving with fashion and inspiring dance, even up to today. My little pink tutu is quite possibly the ultimate representation of how a garment can truly tell a story and empower us to dream!
Shop 'til you Drop! (With a Twirl!)
And you know me, darling! I simply couldn't leave London without a little retail therapy! Shopping is an art form, a vital element of the ballerina’s life. Where else can you discover the perfect tutu or find the most delightful shade of pink?
First stop was a little boutique tucked away on King's Road - a veritable haven for vintage fashion. They had the most divine collection of silk scarves, velvet jackets, and - yes, you guessed it - an enchanting array of tutus! Some were made with luxurious satin, others were crafted with a touch of whimsical tulle.
It was pure balletic inspiration! You know how I am, darling - if I can find a tutu with an exquisite shade of pink and some shimmering embroidery - that’s going to be my next masterpiece for the cosmic catwalk!
Next, I headed over to Liberty’s - one of London’s most prestigious department stores. They have a delightful mix of brands, including everything from statement jewellery to classic accessories. I always find something truly unique there - a gorgeous pair of gloves to compliment a dramatic stage entrance, a striking necklace to elevate my look, or perhaps even a touch of dazzling feather boas to add a dash of flamboyant fun!

So what’s new on the tutu front? Darling, it’s simply bursting with sparkle! The ballet world is embracing color like never before!
Tutus come in dazzling neon shades and beautiful earth tones. There are metallic, shimmering creations and designs incorporating unexpected textures – lace, feathers, even bits of shiny embroidery! Honestly, tutu fashion has become a canvas for artistic expression, just as magnificent as the dances they complement!
I was fortunate enough to meet the renowned designer, Antoinette Le Coq, a true visionary in the world of ballet wear! Her exquisite, whimsical designs have captured the imagination of dancers all over the world. We had the most delightful chat, and she was telling me all about her upcoming collection which is all about 'ballet street.' She’s reimagining the tutu, transforming it into a wearable art form that merges classic ballet style with urban streetwear! How exciting, darling! I must have one of her creations for my next space travel adventure!
Interstellar Adventures:
And speaking of adventures… my next adventure is already on the horizon. My spaceships are ready for lift-off! This weekend, I’ll be jetting off to…wait for it! … Mars! Yes, darling!
The Red Planet awaits, beckoning with the promise of crimson landscapes and a whole new galaxy of pink tutus.
