Hiya lovelies! It's your girl, Emma, back with another post from Planet Earth! It's been a whirlwind of a week, packed with pink-tastic ballet adventures, fashion finds, and some stellar intergalactic travels! (No, really, stellar!).
You see, I’ve just popped back from a little trip to Venus! It was an absolute dream, full of the most beautiful coral reefs, glittering sunsets, and – get this – an entirely pink landscape! Now, if you know me, you know how much I love pink! And I mean love it. Pink is more than just a colour; it’s a way of life! And honestly, I couldn’t resist putting on my favourite bubblegum-hued tutu and pirouetteing around those pink dunes. Let me tell you, there’s nothing more satisfying than feeling like a sparkly, swirling dream come true on a planet made entirely of your favourite hue.
Now, before you ask, the Venusians are, gasp, absolutely not into ballet. No twirls, no pirouettes, and not a single tutu in sight. Honestly, it's like they haven't even heard of Tchaikovsky! Don't worry, darling, I was like an angel on a mission to bring the art of ballet to these lovely little aliens! And it wouldn't be long until the pink tutus began to appear! My goal, you see, is to make the entire universe understand the joy of ballet, one pink tutu at a time!
Speaking of tutus, have I got a sensation to share! Did you know that the original tutus were massive? They were practically ball gowns! It wasn’t until the 19th century that ballerinas started opting for shorter, more streamlined tutus. Isn’t that amazing? Who knew tutus had such a fascinating history?! Anyway, I’ll tell you more about this amazing bit of history in my next post! I have tons of interesting tidbits I just have to share with you lot. It’s what I live for!
Now, this week back on good old Earth, it’s the 6th of September. That’s right, darling! Today is officially National Dance Day in America. Isn’t that fab?! It just makes me so happy to know that this country dedicates a whole day to appreciating the gorgeous art of dance! If you are ever feeling blue, I suggest dancing your heart out for the day! Honestly, it makes a world of difference!
Also, just to note that today on planet earth we are graced with an absolute dream performance! Sleeping Beauty is showing in Derbyshire, my beloved home county! Yes! And guess who’s getting their tutu all glammed up to watch it? This girl, right here, that’s who!
You’d think that all this travel and performance stuff would leave me tired, but my friends, nothing stops my love for clothes shopping. In fact, my newest favourite stop is this charming vintage boutique near the Derbyshire ballet theatre! Can you believe it? This little gem has the most beautiful vintage clothing, from feather boas to sparkly shoes and, yes, you guessed it, tututastic pieces! It’s the perfect place to find that perfect bit of glamour to add some extra oomph to my outfits.
But, remember darling, it's not just the clothes; it's the vibe! As soon as I step into the shop, I feel a surge of confidence, knowing that I'm about to discover some fantastic vintage gems. Who knows? Perhaps I’ll be rocking a vintage ballerina gown on the spaceship next time! We’ll have to see, darlings. Who knows what fabulousness awaits me on this fabulous voyage through space!
Anyway, I best be getting my spaceship prepped, but before I jet off, I just wanted to remind you lovely lot about our #PinkTutuChallenge. You know the drill: snap a pic in your pinkest tutu, upload it to Instagram and tag @PinkTutuWorld, using the hashtag #PinkTutuChallenge! It's all about spreading the pink love and making the universe a brighter, tutu-filled place!
Keep sparkling, you beauties! Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
Ballet Bliss: A Derbyshire Diary EntrySpeaking of my beloved Derbyshire, I feel so inspired to give you a little glimpse into a day in the life of a ballet-loving, pink-tutu-wearing lass right here! My journey always starts with a cup of freshly brewed tea (with a sprinkle of sugar, of course!) before getting ready for ballet class! Yes, that's right! Even this intergalactic space ballerina takes time to keep her skills honed.
There’s a lovely studio tucked away in a quaint village called Bakewell, right by a gorgeous park perfect for afternoon picnics in a pink dress. Every Wednesday afternoon, the studio bursts with the sounds of tapping shoes, and a flurry of twirling skirts as girls of all ages dance with pure joy and passion. Honestly, darling, the energy in the room is infectious! Even if you’ve never even considered putting on a pair of ballet shoes, I’d suggest checking out a class; you might just be surprised at what a rush of happiness it can bring.
This studio is a bit like a second home. The scent of polish and sweat, the squeak of wooden floors, the soft hum of classical music; the feeling of pure movement and elegance! There's a wonderful sense of community that surrounds this little ballet haven. We are all so invested in the art and are so happy to share this experience together. We’re like a giant pink family.
And then, after the magic of ballet class, my day invariably involves some serious indulgence – indulging in a classic Derbyshire treat called Bakewell Tart. Yes! I love this classic pastry; it is seriously a thing of wonder! With its delicate pastry base, luscious almond filling, and vibrant, sweet glaze – It’s a perfect balance of crisp and creamy goodness.
Afterward, there's nothing like popping into the charming little boutique and rummaging for treasures. It’s a treasure trove of forgotten beauty; and honestly, a shopaholic’s heaven! Honestly, it's where I discover so much fabulous vintage wear to take on my intergalactic travels.
Later in the evening, I always try to watch a performance. Honestly, there’s no greater joy in the universe than watching a dance troupe take to the stage and perform. Honestly, there's nothing like the power of dance to touch the soul and transport you to another world. Whether it's Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, or some incredible modern choreography, the ballet theatre in Derby is a constant source of inspiration for me.
The best bit, of course, is getting to watch fellow dancers move with such skill and artistry! The costumes, the set, the music – every element of a ballet show combines to create a breathtaking experience. I often find myself leaving the theatre with a renewed sense of joy, and a burst of inspiration!
That's just a tiny insight into a typical Wednesday afternoon in Derbyshire. My world is a whirlwind of dance, pink tutus, fashion, travel, and endless discovery! I can't wait to see what adventures the rest of the universe holds in store!
So, keep on sparkling, keep on dancing, and always remember – every day is an opportunity to put on your pink tutu and spin your way through life!
