Hello my lovely pink-tutu-wearing friends! It's your girl, Emma, back from a whirlwind of interstellar adventures and a quick stop on my favourite planet: Earth! Now, before I launch into the exciting news, I just want to say a massive thank you for all the love and support for my latest show. The audience on Alpha Centauri were absolutely divine - their applause was so thunderous, my tutu nearly flew off!
I have to confess, travelling across the galaxy isn't all champagne and starlight. Spaceship travel can be a bit cramped (it's not like flying first-class on the new Space Shuttle 2.0!). I do miss having a cuppa with Mum on a Tuesday afternoon. Oh, and a quick trip to Boots for my usual face mask. But the thrill of seeing new planets, exploring dazzling cultures and most importantly, bringing the joy of ballet to new audiences makes it all worthwhile.
Speaking of new cultures, this week I've landed back on Earth and spent a few delightful days reacquainting myself with the delights of Derbyshire. I even had the time for a cheeky spot of shopping in Bakewell. They say every girl needs a good treat from Bakewell, so you know I had to snaffle myself a delicious Bakewell Tart! It just so happens to be National "Eat a Tart Day" too - how perfect!
This week I felt incredibly nostalgic for Earthly ballet. The sheer joy of watching a graceful performance on a traditional stage is unmatched. My darling old granny once said: "If it makes your heart soar, darling, then you are right where you are meant to be," and you know what, Granny? I feel that in my soul!
Today, however, was a rather unique ballet experience - a ballet street performance, held in the heart of Nottingham's vibrant market square! Now, a traditional ballet on a planet with four times the gravity is impressive. It takes an unbelievable level of control and skill, even with advanced hoverboots (the must-have shoe for any interstellar ballerina)! However, watching dancers on Earth navigate the hustle and bustle of a bustling market with a charming grace and poise was truly captivating.
Not only that, they managed to incorporate elements of the market square into their choreography - there was a beautiful scene where a group of dancers twirled amongst colourful stalls selling handmade jewellery, and the highlight of the show had a beautiful dance set amidst the delicious aroma of fresh fish and chips! Now, who wouldn't fall in love with that?!
It was a wonderful reminder that ballet isn't confined to the stage, and the beauty of dance transcends every form. Honestly, I love how my journeys across the galaxy show me so many new perspectives, even the everyday can be extraordinary.
This week on my website www.pink-tutu.com, you'll find my exclusive "Nottingham Market Ballet Diary" complete with stunning photos and tips for finding those perfect vintage tutus. And of course, I have to mention my beloved, limited edition "Starlight" tutu range, featuring exquisite details inspired by the cosmos!
In between all the dance and travel, I made a trip to the London Victoria and Albert Museum. I've always been a big fan of historical costume design. There's an exhibition called "The Future Starts Now: Fashion for Tomorrow" which featured cutting-edge designers. Honestly, I was so inspired by how they reimagined traditional silhouettes. And wouldn't you know it, there were so many pink tutus! Well, not quite, but let's be honest, anything can be a tutu with a little creativity! I love the way designers are now combining practicality with style. It’s a reminder that fashion should be comfortable and playful, just like ballet!
Speaking of playing, I also spent an evening at the Royal Opera House, taking in "Swan Lake." Oh my stars! There’s nothing like the classical performance of an iconic piece of work, It just warms the cockles of my heart, I do love my planet earth.
Now, it's back to planning for my next intergalactic adventure, But, remember this: Don't be afraid to twirl like nobody's watching and embrace your inner ballerina. This beautiful pink tutu life isn’t just about performance, it’s about sharing joy and bringing some glitz and glamour wherever you go. So, go forth, darling readers, and keep those tutus twirling! Until next Wednesday, keep twirling and don't forget to check out the blog this week!
Lots of love, Emma x
