Hello, my darling dears! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, landing back on Planet Earth after an utterly spectacular intergalactic adventure! Oh my stars, this week was truly out of this world!
But before we delve into the cosmic tutu-tastic details, a little catch up on the happenings here in good old Derbyshire, England. As always, Wednesday means ballet class and a cheeky trip to the local vintage shop for a new tutu. Let's face it, every girl needs a fresh addition to her collection every week! And I do mean every girl - it's high time we smashed the pink-tutu-only-for-humans myth! Did you know that the tutu has roots way back to the 1500s, my dears? The original designs were totally different – think elaborate silk skirts for court dancers – but oh, the evolution! Today we have the whimsical, the classical, the flamboyant… and even the space-age, darling!
Speaking of space-age, did you know that my next tutu will be totally out of this world… literally! Yep, you read that right. I'm getting one custom-designed for a cosmic performance. Just picture it – shimmering stardust, a swirling nebula print, and a holographic pink glow that makes the fabric feel like liquid starlight. Oh, darling, the sheer, sheer magic!
But let’s go back to this week, my dears! The Earthly festivities began, as always, with my Wednesday morning ballet class. You simply must be limber, my lovelies, when travelling through the vast expanse of space! A good plie or two helps loosen the legs, especially after spending hours in the spaceship… let me tell you, space-travel is tiring for the legs, even when wearing comfortable ballerina shoes. Speaking of comfy shoes, do have a peek at the stunning pink pair I found this week – my latest vintage acquisition! They're vintage Chanel, my dears, a soft lilac with a tiny, shimmery pink bow! Pure, perfect pink-tutu-world elegance!
After ballet class, it was straight to the theater! The National Ballet were performing "Giselle" - an absolute masterpiece. You see, I do like to ground myself in the classics - and "Giselle" has a special place in my heart, being the quintessential Romantic Ballet. Did you know, dear readers, that in the original "Giselle" ballet, it was not just about a young maiden's love, it also depicted the complexities of female emotion – love, heartbreak, death and, most importantly, power! A powerful tale with a tutu-tastic wardrobe! I always buy souvenirs – this time a beautiful silk fan, beautifully embellished, oh the workmanship! And what colour, you may ask? Pink of course! I did consider a lovely royal blue… but well, pink is my passion!
Later, darling, there was a magical encounter at the theater - a ballet aficionado named Sarah, who told me that "Giselle" inspired her own creative path, that she used to create ballet costumes – oh my stars, we spoke for ages – a perfect cuppa, a beautiful ballet to talk about! I may even be doing a tutu design tutorial, inspired by Sarah.
Now, onto this week's space voyage. You see, dear reader, my mission is to share the joy of ballet across the entire universe - tutu by tutu! This time, it was the Earth-like planet of Venusia - oh, it's so beautiful with a lovely lavender-sky - but that's for a whole separate post, my dear.
So, imagine, darlings - landing on a vibrant purple-toned world and the first thing that greeted me? The Venusphere's Ballet Royale - a gorgeous group of space-ballet dancers! Their tutu design was quite fascinating! Instead of the delicate tulle that we usually find on Earth, they used shimmering silver fabric – reflecting their incredible, vibrant purple sky and making their choreography shine, absolutely sparkle! It's safe to say, it’s on the wishlist for my new out of this world tutu design - it has a magical vibe and the movement... Oh, simply spectacular! I will, of course, do a dedicated post on my design process once it's complete, so keep an eye on the website!
Our evening in Venusphere was spent watching the local "Gliding Venus" performance, a beautiful, mesmerizing blend of celestial grace, cosmic pirouettes and interstellar elegance!
But alas, we must fly on to our next destination! I just had to share this little snapshot of my most recent intergalactic escapades with you. Be sure to follow my next posts and join me for the cosmic tutu journey!
And now, dear readers, do share your out-of-this-world experiences! Is there a ballet or dance you've seen recently that made you wish you could take flight? What are your dream tutus, whether it be classical, whimsical, celestial, or anything in between? Don't forget to drop your comments, darling, I adore your opinions - they help me create even more amazing adventures!
With love and twirls,
Emma
