Hello my darlings! Itās Emma here, ready to whisk you away to a galaxy of tutus, sequins and pure, unadulterated joy!
As always, itās a Wednesday, which means a fresh blog post for you all! Iām back on Planet Earth for the week, but my mind is still soaring amongst the stars, reliving my recent intergalactic adventure.
Iām pretty sure that by now, youāre all aware of my lifeās ambition: to get every single soul in the universe rocking a fabulous pink tutu. Now, you might think that this is a rather ambitious dream ā and let me tell you, it definitely is ā but with my trusty spaceship and my unwavering commitment to tutus, I am slowly but surely turning this dream into reality!
This weekās adventures take us to a dazzling new world called āOrionā ā yes, the same Orion that the constellation is named after! Turns out, theyāre a right bunch of swots for astrophysics and everything space related over there, and they love to see things that are 'perfectly aligned' ā and Iām all about perfecting the perfect tutu spin! I told them all that, you know.
Right from the moment I landed my spaceship, I could feel a shift in the atmosphere (sorry, had to make a space pun). The people on Orion were pretty fashion-forward. A lot of metallic jumpsuits, flowing silks and even a few spangly capes that were quite the showstoppers. You could tell they loved a little drama ā just like yours truly!
Now, when I arrive at a new planet, my number one priority is always to find out about their local ballet scene. Luckily, Orion had a rather spectacular āfloating balletā troupe, and they had already heard about my Pink Tutu World adventures! We met in the centre of the largest metropolis, which was, oddly enough, called āTutu Cityā! Coincidence? I think not! Their dancers had adapted ballet techniques to take advantage of zero-gravity, with pirouettes and jumps defying any normal gravity expectations. It was absolutely magical! It was a beautiful ballet show and, thankfully, I was even invited on stage. I may be biased, but I think it was a little ābitā of a Pink Tutu World extravaganza. They even did an improvised routine with a few space cowboys that came in after their show on some kinda big space-y rocket thing that made that funky space laser-y light show - well, let's just say my dance moves reached intergalactic fever pitch! It was utterly divine!
Iāve just got back from Derbyshire and itās safe to say that my hometown is getting ready for its big annual summer fair, so that's my excuse for staying earthside a bit longer. Youāve probably got Derbyshire in your memory banks already, as it's home to the Peak District and it's beautiful and peaceful, but nothing is as peaceful and beautiful as dancing. Anyway, every year, they have a big fete with stalls and rides, which culminates with a fireworks display and a free, public open-air ballet performance, just as the stars are coming out. Youāre gonna need to excuse me here but that open-air performance is actually how I fund my intergalactic travels - and also why I like living at home so much, don't get me wrong, I love space but nothing beats a cuppa and a cuddle with the cat - as I can rehearse and do shows on the side. I find ballet is the most effective form of therapy Iāve found so far, not to mention a brilliant way to see the world - and yes, even out-of-this-world (hehe!) So yes, Iāll be getting back to my usual routine, practicing in the evenings with my Derbyshire Ballet Company and doing the annual open-air show on Saturday July 23rd for a local charity event called the āDerbyshire Hope Fundā and maybe even seeing what the Derbyshire County Ballet group is up to ā it's a really popular school on the side of the road by my old local pub. It is all very special and I must do everything to support them - and help them raise a lot of money for this amazing Derbyshire Hope Fund that my parents got me involved in. They say to be mindful to help out local charity work where you can so, this is my contribution! Anyway, this is the bit I am allowed to talk about when I talk about how I fund my space travel - thatās just my secret little money maker ā not to mention all those local shows. I also help fund it from all the tutus and other merchandise I sell online. You might have already caught that in my blogs - every pink tutu I sell sends a little bit of magic out into the world - just ask one of my customers, who I promise is definitely not me, my secret identity - so let's keep this quiet alright? - well, this little bit at least...
Anyway, back to my Orion adventure. It was a truly dazzling experience, but I do admit, I missed Planet Earth more than I expected. Nothing quite beats the lush green fields, the quaint Derbyshire villages and of course, the incredible dance schools dotted around my hometown. Itās these experiences, this grounding in the Earthly world that fuel my creative fire. My tutus take inspiration from every journey, from every corner of the universe I visit. Each twist and turn of my intergalactic journeys finds its way into the tulle, sequins and bows I adorn myself in.
Of course, I also make time for some shopping, whenever possible. Orion had a bustling āgalactic marketā, a wonderful melting pot of alien trinkets, interstellar gadgets and the most fabulous fashion youāve ever seen. Yes, they even had tutus! Even though Orion's population is made up mainly of spacefaring aliens - you'd be surprised - and Iām here to tell you: they can do amazing outfits. It turns out their fashion is highly sophisticated and influenced by galactic forces, celestial movements and a strong passion for the dramatic - much like ballet itself. A lot of their stuff was inspired by, you know, those crazy galaxy print designs, well, they seemed like them! You wouldn't believe the metallic fabrics and the flowing designs, just the sheer volume and array of fashion choices and the latest style! It's as though these space beings are very good at taking everything beautiful they can find from the universe and making it even more amazing through clothes! It reminded me so much of Derbyshire: the way that fashion, crafts and history inspire everything - especially my love of all things tutus!
One thing I did notice while shopping, though: the prices were ridiculous! You could get an entire wardrobe in Derbyshire for the price of one pair of earrings on Orion! Itās funny to think of it, but you know how people on Planet Earth will spend crazy money on the most ridiculous things - fashion, food, travel and even a couple of Ā£1000 tutus for a ballerina friendās birthday party... Oh dear... Oh well!
But as for me, you won't find me in any extravagant, overpriced Orion boutiques. I have enough of my own tulle! My latest tutu is pink, naturally - how could it not be? ā and is emblazoned with tiny little constellations, representing all the amazing celestial wonders I have witnessed. Each twirl of my tutu reflects the stars that inspired its design. Iāll be taking it with me on my next journey, a little souvenir from my adventure on Orion.
I even bought some pink holographic nail polish, as the local Orion salon had a promotion ā everything half price! It's totally the same as those fancy earth brands. Not even sure if it's legal to be that low priced, even on another planet! Anyway, who's keeping count - they were just dying for me to try out some of their latest fashions.
For the last two weeks, Iāve been sharing all my intergalactic escapades with my friends here in Derbyshire. Everyone has been incredibly curious about my trip. And why wouldn't they be, huh? A dancing intergalactic traveller, who lives in a town called Derbyshire? It is kinda wild. My neighbour, Mr. Brown - oh, heās a good guy, donāt worry! - even brought me his telescope for a day and taught me about all the constellations, although I already know a few since you know, I do spend time dancing amongst the stars, literally! My friend Jane said, that my travels were even more āinspiringā than my daily, average āget-up-early-and-go-to-the-ballet-studioā day-to-day, everyday life in Derbyshire! That's what I like about this town, even when you come back from doing all these mad adventures everyone's so pleased to see you - and maybe get some stories too.
As usual, my adventures across the universe continue, but for now, itās back to reality! I have a lot of practicing and preparation to do for this charity event in my local town, and who knows, maybe, just maybe, I'll have enough time for another interstellar trip to visit the wonderful Orion dancers again!
Donāt forget to check out my website: www.pink-tutu.com where I am also selling a limited edition tutu in all shades of pink! - because every pink tutu that leaves the Pink Tutu World, makes a dream come true, and it can be yours!
Stay fabulous my darlings!
Until next Wednesday!
