Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink-tutu-fied fun from yours truly, Emma! Buckle up, buttercups, because this week we're taking a little trip back to good ol' Planet Earth - and what a delightful homecoming it's been! After a whirlwind tour of some truly spectacular galaxies (and I do mean spectacular - some of those celestial bodies were practically dripping with diamantes!), I felt a pang in my little ballet heart for home sweet home.
Speaking of home, you know how much I adore a good old-fashioned ballet performance. I just can't get enough of those flowing tutus, those graceful leaps, and the sheer magic of a perfectly executed pirouette. So, imagine my delight when I found out that this very day, 12th December 2029, my very favourite ballet company, the Derbyshire Dance Academy (you just know I had to rep my home county!), was staging a spectacular rendition of Swan Lake.
The whole thing was just⦠magical. I'm talking about feathers that practically floated on air, swan costumes that shimmered like moonlight, and an ending that left me with tears in my eyes and goosebumps all over! (Don't judge, my dear readers, Swan Lake always gets me, no matter how many times I've seen it!)
But honestly, the highlight of the evening wasn't just the stunning performance - although that definitely played a major part. It was the sheer joy I saw on everyone's faces. You know, some folks in this universe seem to think that ballet is just some stuffy, highbrow thing that you can only appreciate if youāre a seasoned artsy-fartsy type. Well, I'm here to tell you, dear readers, that couldn't be further from the truth!
Ballet is for everyone. Itās for the little ones who dream of being princesses and for the oldies who just want to relive the magic of their youth. It's for the ones who just want to sit back and watch the story unfold and for those who like to critique every nuance of technique and choreography.
I love ballet for all the reasons. But mainly, I love it because it reminds me of what's really important in life: passion, expression, and, most of all, a whole lot of sparkle.
Now, about my tripā¦
This time, I'm on Planet Earth for a little while to restock my tutu wardrobe. Shopping for new pink tutus is a must after a cosmic odyssey.
You wouldn't believe the tutus I picked up in the Alpha Centauri galaxy! Seriously, I can't wait to show you guys! But I had to replace a few of my favourite earth-based designs⦠I mean, you just can't get that special handmade silk anywhere else, can you? And you know how much I adore those tiny silk flowers and sparkling gemstones that I love to sew onto the tutus - no planet can beat Earth for these things!
This week, I also took a ballet class at the Derbyshire Dance Academyās newest studio in a new and beautifully designed space, right on the high street in my home town. Now thatās what I call high art and great ballet. They also opened a dance cafĆ© next door ā all coffee, cakes and ballet, what could be more divine? You just know I'll be posting about all of this on my website soon - my Instagram and TikTok accounts are already brimming with sneak peeks!
Of course, my time back on Earth wouldnāt be complete without catching up with the local dance scene. So, after my shopping spree and ballet class, I managed to squeeze in a truly spectacular performance at the local theatre - it's not every day you get to see the latest Broadway sensation arrive on your doorstep. And to make things even more spectacular, I discovered a whole new trend: āballet streetā! Yes, you read that right, dear readers. Apparently, street dancers from all over are incorporating elements of ballet into their routines ā a glorious, graceful fusion of style that had me totally spellbound. You can bet I'm already brainstorming a whole new wardrobe for my street dance routine! Think urban camouflage, pink glitter, and a lot of seriously impressive head-spinning spins. Oh, itās just going to be magnificent.
Now, a little secret about me, my dearest readers⦠my biggest, biggest dream is to get everyone in the universe, from the tiniest, cutest little space creature to the most majestic, sparkly-est intergalactic being, wearing a pink tutu!
Yes, thatās my goal in life - pink tutus for everyone!
I think it would be simply fabulous. Donāt you think? Imagine a whole galaxy of dancing stars, all sporting their very own pink tutus - wouldnāt that be magnificent? Just the sheer thought of it gives me goosebumps!
Itās a tall order, I know. But a girlās gotta dream big, right? I know some of you think it's a little⦠extra. But you know me, I've always loved being a little bit different.
Plus, who knows? Maybe, just maybe, a universe full of pink tutus isn't as farfetched as it sounds⦠After all, this world's a beautiful, crazy, and magical place.
I mean, what else could I be, except the girl who travels the cosmos, preaching the power of pink and advocating for a world where everyone dances in a beautiful pink tutu? Itās my mission to make the world more beautiful. One pink tutu at a time.
