Ciao, darlings!
This week, the pink tutu has landed in Milan, the fashion capital of the world! And let me tell you, it's a real whirlwind of style and inspiration. I've been flitting around the city in my favourite bubblegum-pink tutu, soaking up the Italian sunshine and embracing all things beautiful.
It all started with a rather charming train journey from Derbyshire. Yes, believe it or not, this little ballerina sometimes needs to leave her beloved county to chase her dreams! As always, I travelled in my tutu – there’s no better outfit for a journey filled with wonder and anticipation. The train journey gave me ample time to admire the scenery and to scribble away in my little notebook, collecting my thoughts and ideas for the week ahead. I’m always inspired when I'm on the move, you know. The sights, the sounds, the whispers of possibility – all of it helps me find my flow.
My first stop was, naturally, a ballet studio. Milan has a vibrant dance scene, with a plethora of world-renowned studios, and I was desperate to try out one of their classes. The studio was bustling with passionate dancers, all beautifully attired in leotards and tutus (of course!). We spent a delightful hour practicing barre work and pirouettes, all under the watchful eye of a strict but kindly instructor.
Afterward, feeling thoroughly stretched and invigorated, I wandered through the bustling streets, taking in the sights, the sounds, and, of course, the fabulous fashion! Milan truly lives up to its reputation for style, with an effortlessly chic atmosphere on every corner.
Speaking of style, let's talk about pink. Yes, you guessed it, this fashionista was drawn to all things pink. From pastel pink to vibrant fuchsia, there was pink galore. There were even pink tutus on sale at one boutique, though, admittedly, they weren't nearly as stylish as mine.
And of course, a visit to Milan wouldn't be complete without a trip to the La Scala Opera House, one of the world’s most iconic opera houses. As you can imagine, I simply had to witness this place for myself! It was like stepping into a time capsule of opulent beauty. The grand interior was a feast for the eyes, with ornate decorations and breathtaking chandeliers that would make any ballerina swoon.
I've always been a sucker for the theatricality of ballet and opera, so it’s no wonder I feel most at home in this Italian city. I love the drama, the glamour, the sheer magic of it all. It reminds me why I do what I do. My ultimate aim is to get the whole world wearing pink tutus – but let’s start with Milan, shall we? A little pink goes a long way!

Oh, what a day! I managed to snag a last-minute ticket for a ballet performance at La Scala. I made sure my pink tutu was extra dazzling for this special occasion.
It wasn’t just the magnificent dancing that blew me away. The sheer beauty of La Scala left me speechless! Think intricate, gilded carvings, opulent velvet seating, and a grand chandelier that seems to float above you in a cloud of twinkling lights. And then there's the energy – it's electrifying! From the hushed anticipation as the lights dim to the thunderous applause at the finale, every moment is a pure delight.
My heart throbbed along with the music as I witnessed these incredible ballerinas take flight across the stage. Each movement seemed to express an untold story, with every leap, every twirl conveying a whole universe of emotions.
Exploring Milan’s Chic Side:
I love that you can simply wander around Milan and stumble upon little pockets of wonder, and it’s in these moments I feel like a proper adventurer! One such discovery was a charming boutique tucked away on a quiet street. This little shop had a collection of vintage tutus and accessories – an absolute treasure trove for a ballerina like me. They had everything from dainty tulle to sparkly embellishments, enough to inspire a thousand pink tutu dreams!
Another amazing experience was exploring the Duomo Cathedral, which simply captivated me! This architectural marvel, adorned with elaborate carvings and delicate spires, really embodies the grand beauty of Milan. It's a place that exudes a sense of wonder, making it truly enchanting.

The people! Oh, the people of Milan! I'm a big fan of the Milanese, even though I might find their sophisticated elegance a little intimidating! There's a real appreciation for style in Milan – it's a city where every corner holds a potential runway. Every cafe table is filled with sartorial enthusiasts, while streets teem with street style influencers, all meticulously showcasing their latest outfits. It’s all a bit dazzling, even for a seasoned tutu wearer like myself.
The best part is that this passion for fashion extends to everyday life. Whether it's a simple coffee run or an evening at the opera, Milanese women exude a refined confidence. I can't help but feel inspired by this spirit, and it’s something I aim to embrace back in Derbyshire.

I'm a girl who knows how to find her fun! One of my favourite ways to experience a city is through its local food. Of course, my tastebuds have been indulged with authentic Italian treats! Pasta with creamy pesto sauce, fragrant pizzas, decadent tiramisu, and melt-in-your-mouth gelato - each mouthful a celebration of taste! And, naturally, each one makes me want to pirouette in celebration.
