Ciao Bella! It’s your girl Emma from Derbyshire, and I’m back with another exciting post from the heart of Italy! I’ve swapped my quaint countryside cottage for the glamour and glitz of Milan, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to be experiencing this magnificent city.
Milan, as you all know, is the heart of Italian fashion and my heart has truly been set aflutter this week. This place is a dream! Imagine every street you walk down is lined with the most gorgeous shops bursting with beautiful clothes, shoes, handbags… you name it, it’s here! And as if that wasn’t enough, the sheer amount of historical buildings is astounding. From the majestic Duomo to the stunning Palazzo Reale, I feel like I’ve been whisked back in time every time I step out onto the cobbled streets.
Speaking of stepping out, Milan is definitely a city made for strutting. I've already sported several tutus with impeccable fashion combinations this week, each one reflecting the diverse personalities of Milanese women. One day it's a flowing chiffon tutu paired with a sleek, black blazer for a sophisticated chic look. The next, a vibrant bubblegum pink tulle explosion is coupled with chunky trainers for a touch of playful modernity. Milan really does allow you to express yourself through your outfits, and you can be sure I'm taking full advantage of that.
Of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without a touch of ballet. I’ve been fortunate to witness several beautiful ballet performances here this week. On Monday, I went to the Teatro alla Scala, a truly grand theatre with history oozing from its very walls. It was breathtaking, especially when coupled with the incredible grace of the dancers. On Wednesday, I spent the evening with some of the most incredible ballet street dancers in the Piazza della Scala, showcasing their extraordinary talent in the most delightful way. These performers truly inspired me with their raw passion and skill, leaving me with a warm glow of admiration.
Now, about today – it's Wednesday and it’s already time for another ballet class. The studio I've found here is absolutely perfect – with floor-to-ceiling windows offering the most amazing view of the city and a huge dance floor for me to really stretch my limbs. This city seems to be a melting pot of cultures, even when it comes to ballet, and my class today featured everything from classical moves to modern jazz. It's inspiring to see such a diversity of styles all coming together to create such a unique and captivating performance.
Oh, and let’s talk about food. I mean, it’s Italy, what more can you ask for? The fresh pasta, the authentic pizza, the sweet pastries... It’s all simply divine. My inner foodie has definitely been awakened! And I haven't even mentioned the gelato yet!
One of my favourite ways to explore a new city is by taking the tram, especially when it’s an open-air tram! There’s something magical about the way the wind rushes past your hair, letting you fully absorb the city sights and sounds. On my adventures, I found the cutest little boutiques and cafes I wouldn't have found otherwise, all tucked away in charming corners. Every time the tram chimes, I feel like it's ushering me into another exciting adventure. Speaking of adventures, I've planned a trip by train to Venice on the weekend, so be sure to check back next week to hear all about it.
And before I end this blog post, I have a little question for all my fabulous followers! Do you think I should try wearing my pink tutu at the Venice Carnival? It would certainly be a splash of colour and fun! Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
