Buongiorno from Milano, darling! ☀️
This week's #PinkTutuMilan post takes us straight into the heart of Italy's fashion capital. I'm absolutely besotted with this vibrant city, where style meets history at every turn. From the elegant architecture to the chic boutiques, there's a sense of sophistication that just gets my heart fluttering.
As you know, I adore a good old fashioned Italian tram ride, with the melodic jingle of the bells announcing the stop. This morning I boarded a vintage tram with its iconic red exterior and wood-paneled interior – a delightful throwback to a time gone by. And wouldn't you know it, I met a delightful chap who even complimented my tutu! I may have blushingly declared my love for pink – pink is life, darling!
Let’s talk about Ballet
This week, the highlight of my Milanese adventure was an enchanting evening at the Teatro alla Scala. The iconic opera house is simply breathtaking. The rich history, the velvet plush seating, and the sheer grandeur made my heart swell. The show was "Swan Lake" – what could be more magical, darling? I wore a blush pink tutu, perfectly in tune with the romance of the evening.
After the show, I simply had to indulge in some gelato – a mandatory stop for any fashion-forward foodie. And let's be honest, you can't leave Milan without a shopping spree! My wardrobe is overflowing with beautiful new additions, from flowing silk scarves to classic leather handbags.
Milan - More than a fashion destination
Milan isn't all fashion, darling! I discovered the charming Brera district, a maze of cobblestone streets, hidden galleries, and charming cafes. I sat outside, enjoying the sun and sipping espresso – it was bliss! And there's the stunning Duomo, that magnificent gothic cathedral that never fails to inspire awe.
This vibrant city is a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and experiences. The food is incredible – pasta dishes that sing, pizzas that make your tastebuds do a little dance, and wines that truly set the mood. Every corner reveals a new adventure, and every interaction with the friendly Milanese locals is a joy.
From Derbyshire to Milano
And of course, a pink tutu goes wherever I go, right? 😉 You can imagine, turning heads as I traipse through the cobbled streets of Milan. This darling little number is a real head-turner, adding a touch of whimsy to even the most chic of ensembles. People smile, take photos, and ask about my blog. It's so lovely to be able to spread the love for pink tutus all across the world.
I truly believe that everyone can find joy in a tutu, regardless of age, style, or location. They add a dash of sparkle to every occasion. After all, life's too short to be dull!
Life on the train and what I do
Speaking of joy, let's talk about my train journey to and from Milan. There's something incredibly romantic about traveling by train – a world of possibilities just out the window.
I spent the journey enjoying the rolling hills, sleepy villages, and vineyards that passed by. It was a calming journey, allowing my creative juices to flow freely. And guess what? I started planning my next ballet performance, my main way of funding all my fabulous adventures. Every performance brings joy and allows me to continue chasing my dreams of seeing the world through a tutu-tinted lens!
What’s coming up this week?
- This week I’m going to try and explore more of the hidden corners of Milan - those off-the-beaten-track gems that only locals know about.
- Of course, more shopping – who can resist a good sale? Milan’s shopping streets are a temptation I cannot resist!
- A delicious Italian feast at a traditional trattoria.
- Perhaps I’ll learn a new dance routine! Every opportunity is a chance to move gracefully through life, and Milan is definitely inspiring me.
What can I do in Milan?
Well, there's never a dull moment! Milan is teeming with cultural attractions. The Pinacoteca di Brera museum is a must-see, and so is the Castello Sforzesco. This majestic castle is the home to stunning works of art. And of course, the Duomo! No trip to Milan is complete without marvelling at this architectural masterpiece.
Milan on Wednesdays
Wednesdays in Milan are absolutely buzzing. I find it a fantastic day for people-watching and street fashion spotting. Every corner seems to be filled with style-savvy locals and tourists alike, creating a wonderful melting pot of elegance. And don't forget the street performers. There are incredible artists and musicians everywhere you look! It truly adds to the city's unique and infectious energy.
